The last thing that Ruby had expected had been for Dawson to get up and run after her. But he did and before she could even open her mouth she was barraged by the clumsy, shy words of a teenage boy. He asked if she wanted his number and just as she was about to answer he asked if she would like to go out with him (On Saturday.) He was still going on about going out with her and then apologizing for asking when she finally chuckled and placed her hand against his lips. "Enough." Ruby said kindly, looking happily into the shy boys eyes. "A date sounds like fun. I have work on Saturday but my shift ends at 3:00 so you can pick me up at 4:00."

He blushed and nodded" Ok. That sounds great" he said shyly

Ruby smiled kindly at him and the bid him goodbye before walking off to her next class. She felt very light hearted and even excited to have a date arranged for the weekend. Normally she stayed home on the weekends once she was finished with her shift at work. Sighing softly and brushing some of hair from her eyes she stepped into her last class of the day, the only thing on her mind being Dawson.

Dawson was in a simular state of Euphoric happines. He couldn't stop thikning about his date with her. She was just the wonder of his cosmic being right now and not only that she was beautiful and plus he would get to know her better on the date. Everything was great.

Ruby hadn't really taken advantage of her high school years to kick back and enjoy dating. She had mostly spent the past four years studying hard and working to get a scholarship so that she could afford to go to some sort of college. It wasn't very likely that her parents would be able to pay for both her and her sister to go to school.

Dawson wanted to study medical abraod in other countries, mostly medical that dealt with children. Dawson liked kids, they were fun to talk to and work with. He was in alot of science classes and medical classes.

When the day was over a soft yawn passed from Ruby's lips as she walked out of the school and to the bike rack. It was a little embarassing being the only senior who needed to use a bicycle to get to and from places but it couldn't be helped. Her family only had one beat up car and her parents needed that to switch between her mother's morning shifts and her father's night shifts. They both tried really hard. As she unhooked the lock from her bike, she sighed and started to ride off back to her house.

Dawson had a secret. He didn't remember his parents. He was bitten a long time ago and left in a gutter to die till a nun found him. The nun quickly noticed the bite marks of a vampire upon the boy and took him within the church. He was raised there and taught the holy ways in hopes the vampire in him would be controlled.

Ruby rode through the streets quietly, thinking to herself about Dawson and wondering what he was doing right then. A soft sigh passed from her lips as she finally reached her house and walked in. Her house wasn't exactly a ramshackle place. It was decent enough looking with the lawn moved and a decent coat of paint. The only real signs of poverty was the beat up car in the drive way.

Dawson sighed when he walked in the goth cathedral church and was flood with hugs and kisses from all the nuns who greated him. He was thier son.

The days flew by and soon enough it was Saturday morning. Ruby wasn't sure where all of the time had gone, all she knew was that she had a big lump in her throat and she felt as if her whole body were on fire. How was it possible that she was so nervous? She had aced public speaking class and had been in the girl scouts for as long as it had been appropriate. How was she afraid of one little date?

Dawson was dressed up pretty nice, clean shaven and everything. Unfortunatly he had to use the church's spar van....and he looked like a hippie driving it. He stopped infront of her house. It had her address on it...must be it. He got out.

Ruby was waiting patiently for Dawson and her eyes bugged out of her head when she saw the hippie van stop infront of the house. Don't laugh. She thought to herself, slowly walking over to the door. Opening it, she smiled seeing Dawson. "Hello, Dawson." Don't laugh. "... Is that your van out there?" It obviously had to bis his van or else he wouldn't have been driving it.

" Well...its a spar van the church lets me drive....I'm kinda...an orphan. No one wants to adopt a almost adult teen so..well yeah. But I have 24 mothers so its good" he smiled pleasently. " Ready to go?"

She felt bad for wanting to laugh and quickly composed herself. "Of course." she smiled at him. Ruby had put in an honest effort to dress up nicely for her date with Dawson. While she was already quite beautiful (though she would never admit it), she looked even more beautiful now. Her hair was tied back in a romantic looking pony tail and she was wearing a knee length navy blue dress with a cute pair of flats and a sweater.

Dawson tried to look as nice as he could with the clothes he had. He didn't want to look to formal either. He had on some kakhis anda blue and white button down.

Ruby though that he looked pretty cute right then. Brushing some of her hair out of her eyes she took a seat in the seat beside the driver seat. The van seemed spacious and she had been curious enough to look into the back to see a couple of bean bag chairs and lots of blankets. Shrugging this off, she waited patiently for him to drive off and for their date to begin.

" Um so I was thinking of taking you to see two movies at a drive in..." Dawson said as he started up the van. " I have a cooler full of soda and some chips and even candy and premaid popcorn.....I don't really like theatres so...I'm sorry if its not a typical date.... We can do something else if you want......"

Ruby chuckled and found herself attracted to the shyness that he displayed whenever he was talking to her. As he had been before, he was tongue tied and red faced, trying to talk to her in a calm dulcet tone. "That sounds like a great idea. I've always wanted to go to a drive in." Not to mention it would be much cheaper since he had brought food of his own.

He didn't want to seem too cheap....but then again he didn't have alot of money to begin with. Oh he was just so nervious about what she would like. He didn't want to do anything wrong to think he was a looser and not boyfriend material. He was so awkward around girls. Well.. no. He was awkward around her....he really liked her and was just so shy!!

Eventually they were at the drive in and the movie had begun. She had talked Dawson into the two of them sitting in the back of the van with the doors opened so that they could watch the movies while resting back against the comfort of the pillows and blankets. Slowly but surely her head had found it's way to her shoulder and her body was close to his but not in a sensual way.

Dawson blushed shyly but gently put his arm around her resting his head ontop of hers while watching the movie.

It felt very warm and she felt happy being close to him like this. It didn't feel wrong. He wasn't taking advantage of her or trying to grope her. Yawning softly, she closed her eyes for a few minutes. It was the second movie into the double feature and it was getting only a little late, around 9:00. Maybe she was just feeling really cozy in his arms and underneath one of the fleece throws.

He was feeling cozy as well. It was very nice and warm in the back with her.

After another hour or so she ended up falling asleep against the warmth of his body. Later she would be embarassed to find out that she had fallen asleep, but right then it had felt right to let herself relax and be herself around him. She had been tired stiff from work; her shift had been from 7:00 in the morning all the way until 3:00. It was nice to sleep like this in such a warm and cozy area.
