Dawson had to make sure he stayed awake. He would have to be the one to drive her home.

Ruby wouldn't be asleep for the whole time; Before the end of the date she would wake up and apologize profusedly for falling asleep. For the time being, however, she was contently cuddled up to Dawson and didn't have a care in the world. As the movie came to an ending, however, she began to wake up. "Mmm?" she mumbeled, her eyes fluttering opened. Looking around the van quietly, she slowly started to remember that she was on a date. Her cheeks flushed bright red and she quickly sat straight up.

It was 11. So he understood completly. He wasn't mad at all. " I hope you had a nice time" he said gently.

Ruby couldn't shake off her guilt. She felt positively terrible for having fallen asleep on him like that during what was (pretty much) her first date. This also pretty much probably meant that he would want to go out with her on a second date. No one wanted to go out with someone who fell asleep during a date; That was just plain rude of said person. Sighing, she shyly smoothed out her hair and disheveled clothing.

He smiled and shyly and kissed her cheek. He didn't find it rude. He was sleepy himself.

Ruby had been smoothing out a few tangles that were in her hair when he kissed her cheek. Her eyes widened a bit and she found herself likened to a little girl, shy and ready to swoon over the fact that a boy had kissed her (even though it wasn't on the lips.) She dropped her hand from her hair and turned her head to look at him, unable to fight back her smile.

Dawson smiled back, though it was a goofy smile. He had a goofy smile when he was really happy.

Ruby knew by looking at him that he genuinly wasn't angry with her for falling alseep; He even seemed to understand why. Blushing a bit, she dropped her gaze to her hands and took in a few deep breaths to settle her rapidly beating heart. "I think I would like to go out with you again." she murmured softly, her voice quite obviously shy. "U-unless you don't want to..." Although it seemed like he did.

Dawson smiled brightly, " I'd like that very much." he said smiling brightly. " I had a great time tonight." he wish the night didn't have to end. He wish they could just stay here all night together.

While the idea of getting to spend the rest of the night with him was very tempting she knew that neither of them would bring up the offer allowed. None of them were able to ask the question simply because a little kiss on the cheek had already done the both of them in. Whatever kind of relationship that was going on between them would develop slowly. Spending the night together would deffinately be considered as going too fast.

Dawson really wanted to though but he knew not to push it. the kiss on the cheek was enough.

Ruby looked at Dawson softly and then shyly reached out to touch him. Her fingers gently entangled in his soft hair and she let the strands fall through her fingers. His hair was very soft like she had guessed and she was happy that she had allowed herself enough courage to find out. "I'm sorry..." she murmured, her eyes still on his soft cornsilk hair. "But I couldn't help myself. It looked so soft."

" Its fine. I don't mind" he said gently closing his eyes enjoying her touch.

His hair wasn't cropped short like most boys wore it but it also wasn't obnoxiously long like the boys who worshipped heavy metal kept their hair. Overall, Ruby liked his hair and the way that he looked. And that fact that he was a nice guy, a sweet guy even, certainly helped a lot. She smiled softly and let him rest against her lap while she mindlessly stroked his hair.

" I could stay like this forever" he said sofftly.

"I don't think I'd mind that." Ruby answered back, slowly laying down against one of the large pillows. It certainly was peaceful enough. There was touching but there was nothing haughty and sensual about it; they were just enjoying themselves and one another's company. For Ruby it was like God had given them their own piece of Heaven if only for a few hours.

It was innocent first love. Thats what it was. Dawson layed with her and gently stroked her hair.

It was something to be admired when a young couple was able to appreciate one another's company without there being any string attached. Dawson wasn't expecting Ruby to rip her top off and she in return wasn't expecting anything risque from him. As they laid down in the back of his van Ruby felt at peace. His arms were wrapped safely around her and she could feel him as he tenderly stroked her hair.

Dawson was happy and enjoying thier date. It was a perfect first date. Of cours ehe never went on any to compare.

Ruby closed her eyes and enjoyed another thirty minutes with Dawson before finally giving in and telling him that it was about time he take her home. As much as she would have liked to stay like that forever she knew her parents wouldn't approve of her spending all night with a boy even if the guy was as sweety and trustworthy as Dawson.

Dawson drove her home. " I hope you had a good time"

"I did." she answered, blushing when she realized she had answered too quickly. Ruby couldn't help it! She really'd had a great time with Dawson and was looking forward to getting to know him better. Of course it was like Ruby to finally find her first love when half of her senior year in high school was ready and the time was supposed to be meant for studying for exams for colleges and what not.

" um so how about next saturday...for..a 2nd date" he asked.

Ruby looked softly into his eyes and smiled. "Friday is sooner." she told him honestly, her hand never leaving his. She couldn't help it. Whether or not she was being too bold with her words she could not deny the happiness that she felt when she was near him. There was nothing wrong with wanting to spend time with him. He obviously wanted to spend time with her too.

" Friday and Saturday are both nice days to go places' he smiled trying to get in a third date. Why not? he liked spending time with her
