Ruby smiled, knowing that she was not alone in wanting to spend more time together. "Right you are." she said, briefly glancing over at her house. She wanted to invite him in but she wasn't sure what would happen. Was it supposed to be like in the movies where there was a lot of touching and kissing and removal of clothing? Ruby didn't feel that way just yet. Her feelings were very pure and innocent at that stage of the relationship.

Dawson was unsure what was right to do. To kiss her or something.

Ruby coughed and then reluctantly began to unfasten her seatbelt. Whether or not they lied it she needed to leave soon and go back inside her parent's house. Shaking her head, she looked back over at Dawson and offered him one last smile. "Thanks. I really did have a lot of fun." Her cheeks flushed as she thought back to the fact that she had fallen asleep. Taking in a deep breath she kissed him on the cheek and then got out of her car and walked into her house.

" Night" he siad softly as he backed out of the drive way and waved to her one last time and drov e off, his heart weas light.

The next day Ruby was up early and was just finishing getting dressed. Already she was apprehensive and excited for her next date with Dawson. Even though Friday was much sooner than Saturday it still felt like a really long time from Sunday. Shaking her head, she smoothed out her shirt and then reached for her brush to her do her hair. Her big concern right then was picking up the family's groceries for the week.

Dawson was busy with church. He had to take care of the church's basement rat problem. Or so the nuns' thought. There was actually just one rat. And HIS name was Archemedes. He was Dawson's pet rat. Dawson even got the rat shots to keep disease from impaling the poor little guy.

Ruby gathered the bags for the grocery shopping and then went out to the garage to get her bike. Seeing that one of the wheels was flat she sighed and then and went to check the city bus scheduele. It was going to be a very, very long day. Her favorite kind. With a sigh she went to get a jacket and put it on before going out to wait at the bus stop.

The rat problem was that Archemedes had found his way into the heater and the nuns didn't want to turn the heat on knowing the rat got in there. He came up from the basement " I got him. Naughty boy, archemedes." he said wagging his finger at the rat in which the rat affectionatly nibbled. Dawson rolled his eyes and cuddled the rat going upstairs to the bell tower where his bedroom was. When he was little he used to play the hunchback of notre dame and rung the bells at the times they needed to be rang. Now it was his job. He got paid 5 cents for that. Of course he had other jobs that paid more. He fixed the church and each time he fixed something he got 100 bucks from the owners who ran other churches and other buldings. He sat Archemedes in his cage and looked around at his room and went over to the window and opened it looking down below. He had the best room of all, he thought. He really felt like the hunchback but rather the vampire of Forest Hill church.

Ruby waited for the bus to roll up, boredly staring out at the street. They lived in a small town, deffinately far dfrom the hustle and bustle of the city. Yawning, she glanced down at her watch and then sighed when the bus stopped. As she got on to the bus she didn't notice a scruffy looking man get on the bus behind her and take a seat that was behind the one she had chosen.

He wondered what Ruby was doing. He missed her.

Currently she was being followed, if anyone cared. As the bus stopped near the grocery store, she got off and paid her fair. Behind her the man followed, keeping a considerable distnace from her so that no one grew suspicious. For an hour or so he left her alone and let her do her grocery shopping. It wasn't until she started to leave that things got bad.

By that time dawson was out getting a slushie from a gas station.

Ruby walked out of the grocery store with several bags about her arms. As she walked over to the bus stop out of the corner of her eye she saw a man walking to the bus stop as well. He was scruffy looking with a stained jacket and chin stubble. Taking a seat on the bench next to the bus stop, she looked down at her hands. A few minutes later he sat down beside her.

He was walking downthe street drinking his slushie.

As the bus pulled infront of the bus stop Ruby got on, the man following behind her. She began to be more aware of her and was also starting to feel rather uncomfortable. It was starting to bother her that the man looked familiar. Eventually she got off of the bus. Behind her she heard footsteps. Within minutes she found herself sprinting, rushing foot steps behind her.

He saw the bus stop and Ruby got out. He wanted to catch up.

Ruby's mind had seemed to have gone blank and she wasn't even focused on getting home (which would have been the smart thing to do) but on getting rid of the stranger behind her. With the grocery bags on her arms, however, it was much harder to run. It eventually came the the point where she was pinned down to the ground by the stranger behind her. "Got you." he grunted in her ear.

He saw someone grab her and he growled and ran fast and punched the guy in the face.

His hands had begun to creep underneath her coat when Jean felt the weight being moved off of her. She gasped and saw that the man was lying in a heap on the street, clutching his face which was red. Looking up she saw Dawson and quickly got to her feet. The groceries that she had purchased were scattered about but at the moment she didn't really care.

Dawson kicked the guy till he was in the gutter. " RAPER PERVERT" he yelled. He turned to Ruby and took he hands " Did he hurt you?"

Ruby watched with wide eyes as Dawson kicked the man until he was in the gutter. He quickly turned to look at her and she felt her cheeks flush a vibrant red. "I'm alright..." she whispered, althrough she felt a little bit bruised on her knees and her hands. "It's only a few scratches...' she answered again as she winced. Just a few scratches.

He kissed her ccheek gently. " Well...least he didn't do too much of harm"

She had never really seen someone like Dawson get angry before. While she was surprised she was also intrigued. He was strong. Brushing some dirt from her sleeve, she offered him a small smile. "I'll be ok. Thank you for helping me." she smiled and kissed his cheek. Looking back down at the scattered groceries she sighed and began to pick them up.

Dawson bent down and helped her with the grocherys.

She paused as he did this and smiled at him. Dawson was so sweet. Once all of her groceries had been rounded back up into the grocery bags she thanked him and kissed him on the cheek. Now to walk the rest of the way home. "Hey, Dawson," she murmured, chuckeling softly. "Would you mind walking home with me? I think I'd feel safer if you were with me ^-^" She wanted to give him a reward, like a dinner or something.
