I Am Not Afraid to Keep on Living ~Private~

" Penguin penguin penguin" he teased his mom. He laughed smiling happily. He looked at Ruby, " Well this is where I grew up. I know its not exciting but my bedroom is worth it. No not like that! " he laughed, " I mean you get to see all the bells. they're beautiful!" he smiled.

The nun once again cuffed his ear, though this time it was for bringing up his room in a suggestive manner to a girl. Once she had given him what she felt was a good punishment (though still not too harsh on her only son) she decided to leave the two alone. They were in the house of God and would not do anything bad. She trusted Dawson and had some faith in Ruby as well.

Ruby blushed when he mentioned his bedroom, but then smiled softly. "I would like to see the bells." She was curious as to why he would have a bedroom in the bell tower. "Don't the bells give you headaches?" she asked curiously, following him up the stairs that lead to his bedroom. "Or, perhaps your room isn't exactly in the bell tower?" she asked him.

" Moomm" he laughed smiling. " I meant she would love to see the bells." he laughed.

" Oh I ring them. So they don't annoy me." he smiled brightly. He took her hand and lead her up a stair case and through the narrow hallways. " Watch your head" he said then he lead her up some wooden stairs.

A soft blush lit Ruby's cheeks when Dawson took her hand and led her up the staircase. Even though they had rather been intimate the night before, she was still shy with all of his touches. Once they reached his bedroom, she looked around quietly in awe. "They're beautiful." she murmured, stepping towards the bells. "How could you ring these when you were a little boy? They must have been almost the same size as you."

" Oh I didn't sleep here when I was little. I moved up here when I turned 13." he explained.

"Where did you sleep before?" Ruby asked, taking a seat on his bed and looking over at him thoughtfully. His room, though it was small, still looked like it had that homey touch to it. It was deffinitely his room. Smiling, she got up and walked over to the small dresser and picked up a picture frame which held a picture of him and all of the nuns. "What a cutie." she cooed.

" Well I shared a room with the nuns when I was little " he said gently.

She looked up from the picture frame and then looked back at him gently. "You were such a sweet little boy, I'm sure." she murmured. Placing down the picture frame she then walked over to Dawson and smiled. "I wish I had known you when I was a little girl. I wish I'd known you longer." Leaning in closer, she gently kissed him.

" Because you feel like you're falling in love but your head is saying it hasn';t been long ernough to fall in love yet." he said gently as he kissed her back putting his arms around her. That was how he was feeling right now. What he just explained.

Ruby kissed him deeply and then pulled back and blushed, smiling shyly at him. While she wanted to kiss him a bit more, she couldn't do it in a church. Besides, in the end she didn't want a relationsip that depended on them stripping off their clothes and acting adult. She wanted Dawson to love her for her, Lord only knew she loved him for him.

Dawson wasn't ready for that kind of stage in a relationship. He smiled at her and stroked her hair gently. " you have very beautiful hair." he admired fondly. He kissed her hand and held onto it smiling.

"I could say the same for you." she commented, caressing his soft corn silk blonde hair. Smiling at him, she gently pressed her lips to his cheek. "I'm sure that when you were little all of the nuns probably fussed over your hair constantly." Ruby teased, cuddling him. She was happy just like this with Dawson, they didn't need any more than this.

" How'd you know" he grinned and laughed. He pulled her to his bed and he had her sit in his lap. He just cuddled her. He smiled, " Oh by the way I love to cuddle."

She laughed, "Because if I had a cute little boy like you I'd do the same thing." Ruby answered, gasping when he grabbed her on to the bed. Blushing, she smiled when he placed her on his lap and rested her head on his shoulder. "I don't mind that at all. I think I'm the same way." she said softly, gently kissing his collarbone.

Dawson bit his lip but he cuddled her and closed his eyes.

As she kissed his neck she could tell that he was tensing up a bit, his pulse quickening. Chuckeling, she pulled away and looked at him thoughtfully. "Now, now," she said thoughtfully, looking at him with a raised brow. "You don't think that I would do something in a holy house, do you?" she teased, her lips close to his ear. "Hmm?" she purred, gently nipping his ear lobe.

" Ah-ahhhh" he blushed, " I-I" he was too shy

Ruby looked down at him with a soft smile and gently nuzzled his neck before letting her ear rest just above where his heart was. "Mmm," she murmured softly, listening to the thump thumping sound. It hadn't been too long ago since she had met Dawson and some might have told her to slow down and re-evaluate things before she opened her mouth, but without fear she whispered, "I love you."

Dawson smiled softly, " I love you too, Ruby."

Ruby looked up at him and smiled softly. It felt so good to love someone and then be loved back by them in return. Kissing him gently on the lips she smiled softly and then closed her eyes and rested her head on his chest. "Thank you." she whispered quietly, her heart beating rapidly beneath her chest.

Dawson smiled softly, "For what" he said cuddling her.

"For loving me." she answered, resting her head on his shoulder. While her parents tried to be there for her and her younger sister they still needed to each work two jobs a piece and then hardly had time for one another as husband and wife. Her sister was in an abusive relationship with a boy who didn't deserve her and she still didn't know any better. Jean was the fortunate one to have found someone who loved her for who she was.

" Will you always love me" Dawson asked softly his thumb rubbing the back of her hand.

Ruby smiled and nodded her head. "Yes," she said softly, looking down at her hand as he stroked the back with his thumb. "I promise." Some might have been critical of her for promising to always love him (mostly because he was her first real love) but she felt it in her heart that he was the one who she was meant to be with.

" As will I." he said gently. " No matter what".
