Bloody nights~ Moonangel

Lauren glanced back over at him as he talked, and was about to say something back when she paused. She had thought she saw his eyes go red. But hey, she thought, it was probably just the lighting. "There are plenty of freaks out there, and I'm perfectly okay with them working here, as long as they do their job and do it right" she responded, looking him straight in the eye. There was something strange about him, but she wasn't the type to back down. Which was why she was a boss and not some else's employee.

Darren blinked as he thought to see Lauren look concerned. Still, he would sometimes spook the humans for fun. "So if you find one drinking blood, what would you do?" he asked, leaning forwards more in interest and curiosity in her answer.

"Huh, good question. It would be an odd thing to walk in and find, I'm sure. Well, I'd probably make them pay for the blood they were drinking to replace it. If it was going to be thrown away anyhow, I might just express my concern, tell them it isn't healthy to do, and recommend some kind of therapy.." she replied. Where did he come up with these things? She found herself smiling at the thought of soemone doing smoehting like that. How odd.

Darin could only smile, chuckling at how naive the girl seemed. To be that calm were only words, not actual fact. He doubt that she would simply just get someone to pay her back for the blood and get therapy. Especially if she caught him in the act. "You're very peculiar.."

"So I've been told" she sighed with a bit of a sigh, already almost tired of the conversation. She was sure nothing like that would happen. Who asked questions like that anyhow? He must have one heck of an imagination, she thought. She would be leaving in about 2 hours, which was when his shift ended. She was already a bit tired but was used to the late hours. "Here's a question for you: why would you want a job at a blood bank? And why the night shift?" she questioned, deciding it was time to turn the tables.

Darin chuckled, nodding. Nice retort. "Well, it's a calm work place. No need to deal with unnecessary arguments or questions of profession or harassment. It's a simple job. Plus, I guess I just like working at night....Why do you work the night shift?" he asked, grinning.

She smiled. This was kind of fun, really. She have to keep him around for awhile longer than she had thought to. "Because I love the night, because there's less traffic trying to get home, and because I'm an insomniac and can't ever manage to sleep at a normal time." she replied easily. She had tried the day shift a couple of times and found, also, the people weren't nearly as entertaining as they were on the night shift. Night shift people he met were often there for a good reason or were out of the norm.

An insomniac, that's funny.... "I guess I'm one too because I find myself to be more hyper or I guess active, at night." he said, almost wanting to laugh. Darin shook his head, smiling. "So I guess you love the night life too? Have you gone to clubs and such?" he asked, curious as to what she might do when she doesn't have to work one night.

Robin thought for a moment. What did she do when she wasn't working at night? She wasn't one for doing much other than working or sleeping. But, as she went back in her memory, she realized she had gone to quite a few clubs. "Sometimes I'll go to a club, have a drink or two, and watch people make a fool of themselves" she said with a shrug. She normally never drank enough to get drunk, though she did love her alcohol. She learned at a young age that drinking could screw her life.

"Heh, interesting. Why don't we go to a club after this?" Darin asked, curious. Hell, he might even convince her to get drunk and get a nice little 'sip' from her neck. He looked at his watch, then back at her. The night shift would end soon anyway, two hours. He would have at least two or three to spend out. Then it was off to bed.

"Maybe. I don't make a habit of hanging around my employees after shift. I'll think about it" she said, though she knew it was silly. She just had to think about him for a bit. What was he up to, asking her all these questions? What significance did they have to him? Though she hadn't gone out in several months and it would be nice to do once in a while.

"Eh, it's not like we're closer than co-workers. Trust me, I don't get involved with women at work. It's too messy." he mused, rolling his eyes. However, he asked the questions just of curiosity. All humans were unique in their own way. "So, hopefully you'll accept the invitation." Darin added, winking.

"Maybe for now" she said, and started to get back to work. She had wasted enough time for now. She had some more calls to place and a late delivery was coming in tonight. She took out a stack of paperwork and handed it off to him. "Can you do this for me till I can get to it?" she asked, but left the room before he could respond.

Darin grunted, but sighed. "Might as well.." he mumbled as he started to work on the paper work. Basic stuff. As he wrote, he could still smell the blood. He was glad to be an older vampire or he would've gone into a frenzy by now.

Lauren finished her calls in an hour and the delivery came in. She walked back to where Darin was. "Hey, finished with my calls. I'll handle the rest of these papers. We just got in another delivery. I need you to go sort those like you had the last ones" she told him, plucking the papers out from in fornt of him to see how far he had gotten.

Darren sighed, cracking his fingers. He could've finished them all within minutes, but had to hold back. Obviously it was because then, Lauren would know something was up. "Eh, about half way." he answered, nodding about his task and leaving. It would be a long night tonight.

"Alrighty" she said, and got to work on the rest of them. It was easy stuff, stuff anyone could do. she glanced them over before she started filling them out. Before she knew it there was only 30 minutes left of work.

Darren took his time, sighing. He wasn't hungry but he also was curious as to how the girl's blood must taste. He had only started living off blood bags since a year ago. It was a hard transition to follow through. He shuddered, continuing to put bags away in their specific orders by type.

Lauren finished up and noticed it was just about time to leave work. She walked back to the place they kept the blood and opened the door. "Hey, it's about that time. Shift is up. Any more you need to do you can do tomorrow..." she said as she walked in.

Darren nodded, stretching and yawning. Luckily his fangs were hidden. "Ok then....Uh, wanna get a drink or something?" he asked, despite that he couldn't drink, he could offer to give her a beer or something. Easier way to get blood from a human unsuspectingly.

"Sure" she said with a smile. "Why not?" She began walking towards the exit of the room, and stopped to glance back for a moment. "Where to? And wanna ride together or meet there?" she questioned. It was best to have these things figured out before-hand.

"Eh, I took the bus since my ride's being repaired. So uh, if you don't mind, ride together? It doesn't matter whether we go to a club or bar, just so long as I get some alcohol in me." Darren yawned, walking past her out of the room. Obviously anyone would have to be dumb not to notice that he didn't pass off any heat towards them. He was cold as ice as their skin brushed together.

Lauren noticed how cold he was, and wondered why. Then again, there were many things she didn't understand about him. Either way, she wasn't really the type to pry. There were some things she preferred to find out on her own, if at all possible. "Sure, why not?" she said, her voice a bit distant. She had a lot to think about. She walked out of the place after locking up and met him out at the only car in the parking lot, her car. It was nice car, though she had nicer ones at home. this one was silver and sleek. It wasn't one of her favorites, her Cadillac.

Darren blinked though as he walked outside. She sounded kind of weird. Obviously she must've noticed his cold skin. Still, he could make up an excuse, maybe. "Nice car, by the way." he smiled, waiting for Lauren to unlock the doors.

"Thanks" she said with a smile, unlocking the doors and hopping into the driver's seat. She shut her door and turned on the car. She then put on her seat belt and waited for him to get in. She had what she thought was a pretty good speaker system, but she hadn't turned it on yet.
