Sarah chuckled. "My first master was extremely religious so he had all his slaves read the bible every week. Each night one of us would read a passage or two before he went to sleep..."

"I see," he smiled. "I don't truly mind what my slaves do, as long as they have their chores done for the day, they can do whatever they please. There will be other ladies helping you with the garden. It's much too big to tend by yourself," he told her. "Karen, Jolie, Emily, and Katie are a few of the ladies who will be helping you."

"Karen, Jolie, Emily, and Katie..." Sarah nodded, smiling. "Those names are all very pretty..." She sighed, looking up at the moon. It was full and beautiful and cast the world in a shadow of silver.

He smiled up at the moon. "I prefer the name Sarah," he murmured softly. "I just like the way it sounds."

Sarah blushed, thanking the night for being a dark cloud over her face. "Um yeah, it is... I guess my mom figured it would fit or something... Too bad I never met her..."

He sighed. "It's horrible the way slaves and their children are treated," he shook his head, assuming her mother was a slave, and so she was as well.

Sarah sighed, stopping walking. "My mom was never a slave..."

He blinked and looked at her. "I'm sorry," he apologized, feeling horrible.

Sarah smiled softly. "It's okay.. You didn't do anything to be sorry for..."

He kissed her cheek. "Truly, I am sorry," he murmured.

Sarah blushed, averting her eyes from him to the ground. "Well, it's okay I guess..."

He smiled softly. "Should we get back inside before the mosquitoes eat us alive?"

Sarah blushed, nodding. "Yeah, I think that would be a good idea..."

He smiled and walked her back inside. "Did the ladies show you around," he asked her.

Sarah chuckled. "If they did, I completely forgot..."

He chuckled. "I'll show you, then," he gave her the tour of the house and realized that her bedroom was closest to his.

Sarah smiled, walking along the halls with him. The house really was huge. "This is amazing... It really is..."

He smiled. "I'm glad you like it," he told her truthfully.

Sarah smiled, turning to him. "There's... And.. It's... There's no words to describe it..."

He chuckled. "Well, it's big. And full of people. I don't think I'll take in any more slaves," he chuckled.

Sarah nodded slowly. "Really... Well, that's good for some things, but bad for others ya know?"

"I know... But I only have so much space," he sighed. "Women deserve their privacy. I understand that most get very cranky when they have to share a room."

Sarah nodded, chuckling. "Yes, that's very true... We like our own space, but it's okay when some people come in..."

"but what if you want to get away from that person? Your room is your sanctuary. If you share that sanctuary, you can't lock the other person out, because its' their sanctuary as well."

Sarah smiled, turning towards the room on her right. "I'm not talking about roomates. I'm talking about someone special, like somebody that someone loves... That's the exception... Not even a sanctuary could keep out their love ya know?"
