| A year slowly came and went. Marcus was the most beautifuliest tree in the forest. His branches held beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring and int he summer the leaves were a brilliant emerald green and his leaves were the reddest in the fall. Though through all these changes he went through the most change that had been made was within his heart. Marcus made it snow in the spring all over Jacey with his cherry blossoms and gave her the most beautiful scents from them for perfumes. He sheltered her from summer storms and craddled her under the stary skies as they both fell asleep. In the fall he enjoyed thanksgiving with her and he even got some turkey of course he was released from his tree shape for thanksgiving. Only on special holidays was he allowed to be released to enjoy them with her.
Marcus loved her dearly and was always there for her tree or not. Marcus wanted to give her the best christmas present. He was going to confess to her he loved her. | |

| Jacey was not particularly sure about things in her life. While she had decided to ignore any budding feelings for Marcus that she may have held, this did not really help improve her relationship with Kyle. Eventually as their relationship carried on, they did make love a few times (one time or another Kyle had tried to be spontaneous with her in the forest and she had needed to stop him out of embarassment of Marcus seeing.) Their relationship seemed good on the outside, but on the inside there were several problems. A few months back Jacey had gone through a pregnancy scare, one that she had never even told Kyle about. Honestly, she had confided with Marcus about it, being afraid of the fate of her child.
Luckily enough, she was not pregnant.
As the days were finding by and Christmas was coming up, Jacey felt as if Kyle was planning something. This worried her. On the day of Christmas Eve, after a nice dinner and movie, they walked through the forrest, enjoying the beautiful freshly fallen snow. She chuckled, a bit tipsy from wine, and unknowingly rested against Marcus (his tree form, of course.) Kyle looked at her with an amused look on his face and gently kissed her. "I love you." he said softly. |

| Marcus looked at them quietly. If he pulled a move on her while she was unstable he would attack. Marcus did not like Kyle. Kyle reminded him of his younger self when he was a bastard idiot. | |

| "You're just so beautiful, you know?" Kyle whispered in her ear, nuzzeling her neck affectionately. He chuckled hearing the soft sigh from her lips and gently bite down into her neck. "And you taste delicious, my dear." For a moment there seemed to be a sort of resistance in her before relaxing once more. Kyle just to ignore it, and continued on. "I want to make sure you think about me all through Christmas." he muttered, lapping at the red blotchy mark he had left on her neck. Very gently, he started to hoist her up into his arms, and urged her to wrap her legs around his hips.
Jacey groaned a bit. "No, Kyle, please." she said softly, gently pushing him away. "Tonight was such a nice night and I would like for it to stay like that." While she was sure there must have been a small part of her that adored Kyle, she didn't always like when they were intimate together. It seemed so empty compared to... Her face flushed briefly. "I'd like to go home soon. It's pretty cold." she added.
Kyle rolled his eyes. "Come on, Sweetheart," he urged. "I just want to have some fun with you." |

| Once more, Kyle was spooked by the ominious voice. "Come on, baby." he urged, tugging at her hand. "Why don't we go to my apartment for the fun." He chuckled softly, "I do plan on keeping you up all night." he added. Ignoring the annoyed look on Jacey's face, he started to tug her away from the tree. It was when she actually started to hold on to the tree that he stopped. "What is up with you?" He was deffinately more comprehensive then Jacey, who'd had three glasses of wine to drink. |

| Kyle was annoyed by her disobedience and dropped his hand from Jacey's. "What in the hell is wrong with you? You're my girl, what's so wrong with wanting a little sex?" he asked her, looking defiantly into her eyes. "God, I was already so understanding that you were pretty much close to a virgin the first time we were together. I was even understanding when you wouldn't let me get rough on you, but this is ridiculous. You're a really shitty girlfriend if you won't let muse use my own rights to sleep with you."
Jacey was quiet, unable to talk. What was there really for her to say? They obviously had different views on intimacy. While he wanted it all of the time, she had been holding back. She had vainly been waiting for a spark of true romance and passion... like what she had shared with Marcus. Resting against the tree, she closed her eyes and sighed.
Kyle growled at her. "I fucking want sex!" he blurted out, his body shaking as he said it. "I take you to a movie and buy some nice wine with our food and you won't fucking let me have sex with you?!" |

| Marcus saw himself in Kyle. He got really angry and lashed out against Kyle and brought him up to his face. " If you ever talk to her like that again I will crush you and break you into a thousan pieces! YOU RESPECT A WOMAN AND HER BODY. YOU LOVE HER WHEN SHE TELLS YOU IT IS TIME TO LOVE HER. YOU LOVE HER EMOTIONALLY BEFORE PHYSCIALLY. SHE IS NOT YOUR HUMPING TOY YOU BASTARD!" | |

| A soft gasp passed from Jacey's lips as she watched the tree branches lash out from behind her and snatch up Kyle. While she was a bit slow from the wine, she quickly realized that it was Marcus and that he was angry with Kyle. Kyle swung back and forth violently, trying to break free. Once he got free from the vice like grip, he fell with a loud thud and made a run for it without even looking back. Jacey watched his retreating form quietly, not saying a word. Slowly the spell faded from Marcus |

| Marcus stood there by her. He was more muscular now since he had grown strong as a tree. " Are you alright, Jacey" he said softly. | |

| Jacey nodded her head, very quiet. She wasn't sure what to think. While she hadn't avoided Marcus throughout all of this, she had tried to avoid them being alone at such a late time when he was in his human form. What confused her was how he had changed back even when she hadn't lost control of the spell. She turned to look at him, her eyes a bit weary. "I'm sorry you had to see that. I know he wasn't the best of guys and, well, I guess we won't be seeing much more of him..." she chattered on nervously, unable to fully look him in the eyes. Nothing was keeping them apart now. |

| " I wasn't going to let him take advantage of you." he said softly, " And what he was saying was cruel and selfish.....I couldn't let him hurt you" he said softly. | |

| Jacey blushed a deep red and looked away from him awkwardly. "I-I'm not yours to look after," she murmured, hardly looking up to meet his eyes. "I'm not some sad little puppy who's been kicked so much that it can't defend itself." At this point she wasn't really sure what she was trying to defend, whether or not she needed defending or if she was trying to, in her own special way, thank him. "T-thank you..." she finally stuttered, her face pink. |

| "But you aren't really a tree..." she whispered, looking softly at him. Jacey felt like there was more that needed to be said, but the words would not come to her lips. Finally she said, "It's getting cold, why don't we go to my apartment? It's nice and warm and decorated for Christmas." Due to all of the drama, she had nearly forgotten it was Christmas Eve. "I'm sure I can make something warm for you to drink and heat up some leftovers." |

| She looked at him with an incredulous expression on her face. "You were born a human. You're a human right now as you stand before me. You aren't a tree." Taking his hand she started to walk with him to where the car had been parked only to realize that Kyle had driven and that they were now out a ride. Sighing, she continued to walk with him. |

| "I guess I lost concentration of the spell." she lied. Honestly, she did not know how the spell had faded. For it to have been broken he'd have needed to have not only fallen in love, but also have gotten someone to fall in love with him. As they reached her apartment, she got out of the car and started to lead him to her room. "I guess we'll be opening presents in my apartment instead of the forest." Jacey murmured softly, opening the door and letting him in. |

| "Your company is enough." she said softly, walking over to the stove to put on the kettle. "It's dreadful to be alone on Christmas." she said softly, turning on the burner and placing the kettle over it. Turning around, she looked at him thoughtfully. "And what is that, Marcus?" she asked. She was afraid yet sure at the same time. |

| "How hard can it be to give someone a present?" she asked softly, and then brushed some hair out of her eyes. "Well, it isn't Christmas yet anyway. So I can wait for my present." Glancing over at the clock, she saw that it would be christmas in ten minutes. Shrugging, she walked over to the small kitchen table in her apartment and then took a seat. |
