| A soft sigh passed from her lips. "But you aren't a tree. Not really. Your soul is trapped inside of this tree." It seemed odd for her to have to explain her own spell. "When the right person comes along, they will be able to see past your form and love you for your soul. There is such a love, you know." What made things worse right about now was that little by little she was starting to question her own love life. |

| How many people pass through this forest. Mostly male lumberjacks, I'm sorry, I'm all in for forbbidden love but I'm not a gay cowboy. Marcus did have a sense of humor. | |

| Jacey rolled her eyes at his comment. "Do you really have no faith in love at all?" Of course, it seemed a bit silly that a girl of twenty-four who'd never really had a meaningful relationship in her life was talking to a twenty-two year old as if she were some sort of guru on the topic. "It will take time and it will be hard but eventually you will find that person. And maybe you'll be really stubborn and she'll talk too much, but maybe then you'll balance eachother out." She sputtering on and on, her cheeks growing to be a flushed pink. "A-and maybe..." But once again she had lost concentration and the curse had broken and she found herself falling to the Earth. |

| Marcus caught her in his arms. " Oh boy. " he sighed gently. " I don't think anyone could find any good in me." | |

| Jacey had clenched her eyes tightly together in the excpectancy of falling to the ground and her death. When she felt a pair of muscular arms around her, she gasped softly and opened her eyes. They widened and her cheeks flushed an incredibly red color. "M-marcus..." she gasped, her voice a bit raspy. She had hardly looked it him the first time she had transformed him into a tree mostly because he had been beaten to a bloody pulp. Her magic had healed him and now he looked every bit as human as he trully was. She didn't enjoy the fact that she was attracted to him. Because of this weakness she was not able to concentrate and bring the curse back up. It would take her a while. "Y-you need to come with me for the time being, or else you'll freeze." |

| She took in a deep breath and tried to get a hold of herself. Why was she acting like a little girl? She was with Kyle and she loved him deeply. Marcus was merely her responsibility until he broke the curse for good. Sighing softly, she began to remove her scarf and leaned up to tie it around his neck. He hardly had enough on to keep him warm. "Come on," she said, walking with him to where she had parked her car. She was surprised and dissapointed to see that Kyle's car was gone. Opening the door on the other side for Marcus, she then got into the driver's side. |

| Marcus was silent, he didn't want to seem like an asshole since he was getting out of the forest. | |

| The drive back to her small apartment was quiet. Marcus was being silent for some reason and she wasn't talking because she was dissapointed in the fact that Kyle hadn;t waited for her. Once they reached her apartment she sighed softly and then got out of the car, waiting for Marcus to get out as well. She locked the door once he had and then walked to her apartment room. "Make yourself at home." she said softly, removing her hat and jacket. Placing them in a thin looking coat rack, she sighed and then went to make something warm to drink. |

| Marcus nodded his head gently as he walked into the living room. He felt like calling Lizzy...just to say sorry. Nothing else. to say sorry for everything. | |

| After putting the kettle on the stove, Jacey went to her small bedroom to change into warmer clothes; the ones that she were wearing were damp from snow. Doubting that Marcus was really wandering around, she didn't bother closing the door all of the way and began to undress. Reaching for her robe, she put it on and then went to pick out some warm clothes to wear. |

| Lizzy had been cuddeling idely with Ryan, it being her first day living with him. When her cellphone went off, with a great reluctance she picked it up, believing that it was Damien's number. However, the number flashing on the screen belonged to Jacey, a drifter whom her father had picked up off of the road a year or so back and had let her live in their spare room for a few months until she got back on her feet. "Hello?" she said, answering it. "How are you, Jacey?"
After picking out her clothes, she placed them neatly on to the bed. She could do with a hot bath. Making sure that Marcus was out of site, she walked out of her bedroom in her robe to the kitchen to turn off the stove. Jacey then started to walk to the bathroom, though she was surprised to see marcus using her phone. What in the world was he doing? |

| "No, Its me Marcus.....listen...Lizzy....I'm sorry for everything. At the moment I am human but I have been cursed. I want you to know that I love Emmett and I don't deserve the title of father of Melody. This is the last time y ou will probably ever hear from me. The forest is my home now. I deserve my curse. I am a tree. If you still hate me which I'm sure you do, cut me down." he said gently. " I don't deserve to live. Let me warm your house for this winter. It is the only thing I probably would ever be good for. I hope Ryan is everything you could ever want. You deserve it. " he said. | |

| "M-marcus..." Lizzy gasped, her voice getting caught in her throat. As he spoke, her mind was on why he was calling from Jacey's apartment. As he continued on with her explanation she was no longer worried for her friend for she realized that Jacey must have been the one to put the curse on him. Once he had finished talking, Lizzy sighed. "I will not cut you down, Marcus." she said softly. Excusing herself from the room, she went to talk in one of the more private rooms of Ryan's apartment. "Even if we are no longer together, you will always mean something to me." She sighed softly when she heard Melody begin to cry ion the background. "I need to go, Melody needs me." she said softly into the phone. "This isn't the last time we'll see eachother, Marcus." she said softly, and then hung up.
Jacey listened to him quietly as he talked to his ex-wife, and realized how much he was still in love with her. She felt guilty and dirty for eavesdropping, and with a sad sigh walked on to the bathroom to get in that hot shower that she had wanted so much before. Closing the door, she let her hands rest on the sash of her robe while she thought for a little bit. What must it be like to live a life like he did? Sighing, she walked over to the clawfoot bathtub and turned the faucet to let it feel for hot water. Pouring in some bubble bath, she stirred the water and then waited for it to finish. Once it had, she stood and undid the sash to her robe, letting it fall to the floor. She then stepped into the warm water and let her problems fade away. |

| " I love you Lizzy" he whispered as he hung up. He sat down ruffling his hair. He curled up on the couch and cried himself to sleep. | |

| Around a half an hour later Jacey finally left the bathroom. She was wearing her bathrobe once more and had wrapped the towel around her head in a manner similar to a turban. As she walked passed the living room, she paused noticing Marcus asleep on the couch. Taking in a breath and sighing, she walked over to him and looked down at him. Her phone was cradled inbeteen his shoulder and his hand, and she carefully reached for it and placing it back in it's holder. Kneeling besides Marcus, she looked softly upon his sleeping face. Sighing, she stood and reached for the blanket hanging on the couch and covered it over Marcus. |

| Marcus was dealing with alot and he was learning that he wasn't the best person in the world. Infact he was worse than when Damien was a teen. | |

| She carefully brushed some of his short brown hair from his eyes and then sighed. "I'm sorry, Marcus." she said softly. He needed this, but at the same time it couldn't have been easy to have to go through it all alone. People shouldn't have to need a crutch, but somehow they still did. "So, so sorry." Resting her face beside his, she closed her eyes and let herself rest. |

| A soft sigh passed from Jacey's lips and she opened her eyes to look at Marcus. "Marcus..." she murmured shyly, blushing and looking gently at him. "I'm with Kyle," she said softly, "And I'm the one who turned you into a tree. But," she liked being close to him, despite everything. "I-I can't be the one the help you break the curse. I know I can't..." she stuttered. |

| She looked at him sadly for a few minutes and then sighed. It was stupid for her to think that she was feeling anything for him at all. Right now she was just overly emotional because her date with Kyle had been cut short and she was overly worried for Marcus, that was all. Looking gently at marcus, she closed her eyes and then gently pressed her lips to his before pulling away. Looking at him once more, she sighed and then stood up. Once she was in her rooml, she dressed and then got into her bed. |
