Nick chuckled. "Well, we normally talk about our kids and the pack. Sometimes, about Al and how we miss him."

Slowly, Sam let go of Brados and took Nick's hand. "Can you tell me about him? About Al? And about... Ed?" she asked.

Nick nodded and sat down, holding his sister's hand. "Al was our older brother - the 'middle' kid, between us and Ed. Before we came to this pack, Al was a womanizer. He loved flirting with women. That changed the second he laid eyes on Raini. From then on, he spent most of his time either talking to her, or trying to figure out something that she'd like. Ed..." he sighed, not really liking to think about what had happened to Ilane those few years ago, but she wanted to know. "Either you or Raini were in the field with Ilane, getting herbs for food and medicine, when Ed took her without anyone knowing. It took us the rest of the day to find them. Ed had made an advance on Ilane before - so I knew it was him. Whenever we did find them..." he growled at the memory and shook his head. "I swore she was dead..."

"So, Al was the funny one and Ed... not so nice?" she asked softly.

Nick nodded. "Yeah," he said softly.

"What else was Al like?" she asked.

"He was kind and loving. A good brother and a good mate. A good person overall," Nick said, smiling softly at his brother's memory.

"What happened to him?" she felt bad that she didn't remember him.

"Our pack was attacked by Brados' old pack. Al went to help fight them off, but one of them went after Raini. All hurried back and took the attack, but he didn't have time to move to defend himself. He died instantly," he said sadly. "Raini had just told him that morning that she was pregnant. He wanted a girl. He wanted to name her Olivia." He nodded over to Olivia, Conall, Kale, Izzy, Dane, and Zach.

"That's so sad..." she said softly. "Who is Raini with now?" she asked. "And, who is that fox that's around Olivia?"

"Brados' little brother, Kendal, fell in love with her and helped her heart heal, then she realized she loved him when another member of Brados' old back came and hurt Kendal. That was the day before Brados left to go finish the rest of them off so we didn't get attacked again. And the fox's name is Al," he chuckled softly. "Olivia wanted to name him after her real daddy that she never got to meet."

Sam smiled, watching them. "What about you and me? What did we do while we were kids?"

Nick shook his head. "I was raised by Ilane, actually. She used to be human before she joined our pack, and we lived in a human city. I didn't remember anyone - our father took me to Ilane while I was just a pup, and our mom took off with you.

She sighed. "So... We just found each other?" she asked.

"Before you got pregnant with Conall, yes," he nodded.

"So... what do you and I do?" she asked.

"We sit and talk, watch our kids play together."

"I'm not going to lie, that sounds boreing."

He laughed. "We go hunting sometimes, too, though your mate doesn't like you risking yourself."

She smiled. "And now, he's probably going to be even more protective." she said softly. "Though, I don't think it's a bad thing. I need him right now."

Nick chuckled. "I don't think anyone minds," he assured her.

Brados nuzzled her.

Sam smiled slightly, leaning against Brados. "do you know why our mom kept me and not you?" she asked Nick.

He shook his head. "Something about our parents getting in a fight and splitting up or something."

"Are they still alive?" she asked softly.
