A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.3

Brados made sure Sam and their kids were safe and warm in their den before he went to help Nick. He'd heard him calling out for Briana and went to go help find her.

Kendal went to help also, wanting to find his little niece. He wouldn't want Olivia out there in this storm, and, more eyes the better.

Briana whimpered, shivering more violently as the storm progressed. "Daddy, I give up," she whined, crawling out of the small cave. "Daddy!!!!! Mommy!!!!!," she called, but her voice was lost with the wind.

Ilane didn't hear anything. She went to Nick. "Did you find her?" she asked. She was shivering cold, but couldn't leave. not until she found Bri.

Nick shook his head. Go inside, love. We'll find her, he promised.

She shook her head, falling to her knees. "I have to keep looking for her."

Nick shook his head. You'll hurt our baby, he nudged her stomach very gently. Stay inside. We'll find her. He ran off after Brados, who caught her scent that barely clung to the ground.

Ilane sighed, going back to her den but staying by the door way.

They lost the scent soon, however, and the blizzard grew too horrendous to continue any farther. In low spirits, they had to turn back home.

Briana cried, crawling back in her little cave. She was shivering violently, and the cave offered protection from the horrible wind.

Seeing them come back without her daughter, Ilane sank to the ground, close to tears.

Nick whined, his head drooped to the ground. The storm's too bad to look anymore... I'll go as soon as it lets up. he promised.

She shook her head. "no.. We have to go out, we have to look for her..." she said, scared. "I don't want to loose her."

"And what if she's out there, covered in snow?" she asked, trying to push past Nick. "I have to find her!"

Nick kept her inside. Ilane, you have to calm down, he said gently. We'll find her. I'll sneak past the elders and I'll find her. But you have to stay here.

Ilane shook her head but stopped and looked at him. "I need her in my arms, Nick. She's been out there all day and the storms getting worse. she's only a baby... My baby." she said, starting to cry.

I know, he said sadly and nuzzled her. But you have another baby you need to think about. You stay here and keep warm. I'll be back as soon as I find her. he nuzzled her, licking her tears gently, and ran off, sneaking past the elders in search of his daughter.

Sam went to Ilane, putting a blanket over her shoulders. "It'll be alright." she said softly.

"That's my baby out there Sam." she said softly.

"I know... But Nick's right. You have the baby inside you."

A tear fell down Ilane's cheek and she nodded. "You guys are right, but that still doesn't exclude the fact that Brianna's out there, dieing..."

Raini went to Ilane, too, hugging her. "Nick will find her alive," she said softly. "He wouldn't let anything happen to his little girl, you know that."

Ilane nodded. "I just want to be out there with him..." she put her hand on her belly. "But I can't..."

"I want to be out helping, too. But I can't either," she hugged her. "It'll be alright. They'll both be fine."

Sam got up, getting all of them some tea. Ilane gave her a soft smile of thanks. She sat there, waiting for her mate and daughter.

Nick trudged through the snow, howling for his baby girl.

Bri thought she heard her daddy's howl, and peeked her head out of the cave. "Daddy!!!!!!! Daddy!!!!!!!!" She got out and started heading towards the sound of his howl, but got too cold and sank into the snow, hugging herself and shivering violently.

Ilane couldn't see anything, let alone hear anything. but, she could feel that her baby girl was getting worse, that her life was slipping away.

Nick heard Bri call him several times and followed her voice, which was growing weaker and weaker. He howled for her, telling her to stay awake for him. Finally he found her, buried in the snow. She was unconcious, her lips blue and her skin pale. He shifted into his human form and took off his shirt, wrapping it around her and holding her little frame to his chest to warm her up as he ran home.
