A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.3

"Mommy! Daddy," Conall yelled, running to help with whatever he could.

Raini followed Kendal, horrified that she might have lost her baby girl. "Olivia!!"

Kendal was already pulling Olivia out of the rubble. Her head was bleeding badly and she was unconscious. He sat her in his lap, holding her close, moving the hair away from her face. "Olivia, baby, wake up... please..." he said.

Al whined and sat next to him, looking at Raini with a sad, apologetic look. He should have pulled her away faster. His foot was beginning to swell, it had been crushed slightly by a falling rock as he tried to get Olivia away.

Kale was right behind Conall and she grabbed his hand. "Mommy...?" she asked softly. She could see her mom's hand from the rocks and dirt but that was it. Sam was under a lot of rubble and smooched between 2 big rocks.

Brados pushed the rocks off of him to give him enough room to get out. "Sam," he called, crawling towards her. He couldn't lose her. He couldn't handle it. He found her hand and started digging through the rocks, pushing them away. "Sam, babe, hold on!"

Raini ran towards them. "Olivia," she cried. "Baby, please wake up." She stroked Al's fur, knowing he was worried and probably blaming himself.

Kendal shook her gently. "Olivia..." Al whined, his ears flat on his head. He limped forward a step and nuzzled Raini. He hated seeing his little girl like this. As slowly as he could, Kendal got up, trying not to jostle the little girl in his arms. "Let's get her cleaned up. I'm going to leave her with you and help dig people out." he said, going to a tree by the river.
Al limped behind them.

"Daddy is mommy okay?" Kale asked, crying. she could see Zach near by, almost on the verge of tears himself. She hugged Conall, crying into his shoulder.

Brados gently eased Sami out of the rubble and held her in his arms. "Sam, Sami. Open your eyes," he said, willing his eyes to stay dry. "Please, Sam. Please open your eyes," he begged.

Conall whimpered. Brados looked at them. "Do you two remember the herbs that are used for healing?" Conall nodded. "How many do you want us to get?" "Get a lot, buddy. As many as you can carry. Help him, Kale. And take your little sister with you," he said. Conall nodded and took his little sister's hand. "Come on, Kale. Let's go get Izzy and get those herbs to help Mommy."

Raini nodded, wiping her face on the back of her sleeve, standing and following them.

Once Raini sat down, Kendal set Olivia in her arms. He kissed Olivia's forehead gently but lovingly then kissed Raini's lips. "Don't worry, okay?" he told her, wiping her tears away. He kissed her again. "I'll be back." he told Al who nodded.

Kale watched Sam for a moment longer and nodded, following Conall. "Do you think Mommy's going to be okay?" she asked him softly, sadly.

Raini swallowed and nodded. "I'll try... Be careful," she told him. She gently scooped up water in her hand and began washing the blood off of her daughter.

Brados gently laid Sam on the ground and forced himself to calm down, checking over her injuries. She had some broken bones, which was expected, but he found she also had a bump on her head. A pretty big one. He took a big breath, forcing himself to calm down again.

Conall nodded. "Daddy won't let Mommy go away," he told her, truly believing that. "But we have to hurry."

Kendal went to help dig other people out. There were lots of broken bones and bumps and bruises but, nothing REALLY bad. Nothing as bad as Olivia or Sam.

Kale nodded, getting arm fulls of herbs. "But Conall... what if he can't keep her here? What if she dies, what will we do then?" she asked, on the verge of breaking down.

Conall shook his head, holding Izzy on his back with her carrier as he got as many herbs as he could carry. "Don't think about that, Kale. Don't let your thoughts go there. We have to hurry to help Mommy."

Raini finished washing Olivia off and gathered her up in her arms gingerly. "Olivia, sweetheart, please wake up..."

Kale nodded, gathering as much as she could then going to her dad again. "Daddy?" she asked softly, her arms full. It was rather cute, but... now was not a time for cute.

Al whined, nuzzling his nose under Olivia's hand. She still wasn't waking up.

Brados took the herbs and kissed his daughter's forehead, then started using the herbs on Sam's injuries. "I'm gonna make Mommy all better," he murmured to them (Conall had come up behind his sister). "Don't worry."

Raini fought back tears, stroking her daughter's hair. "Olivia, sweetheart, please...."

Kale nodded, looking around. She started crying, running away.

Olvia slowly started to move. she moaned and opened her eyes.

Conall set down the herbs by his parents and ran after his sister.

Raini stroked Olivia's forehead. "Hey, sweetheart," she murmured. "How are you feeling?"

Kale ran to Zach. She stopped in front of him for a moment then glomped him, hugging him tightly and crying into his shoulder.

Al started licking at Olivia's hand, his tail wagging. Olivia looked up at the woman holding her, confused. "who are you?"

Zach blinked and looked at her, then up at her brother. Conall took Izzy down and wrapped his arms around her, showing Zach what he should do. Zach looked back at Kale and wrapped his arms around her shyly, seeing Conall nod out of the corner of his eye.

Raini bit her lip, holding back tears. "I'm your Mommy, sweetheart," she said. "And this is Al, your friend," she nodded to the fox.

Franny sighed sadly, rubbing Kale's back.

Olivia shook her head. "No you're not..." she said, getting scared.

Zach held Kale, not liking that she was crying.

"Yes, I am," she said gently. "You got caught in a rockslide and hurt your head," he gently brushed her hair out of her face.

Kale held onto Zach but then slowly let go of him. "I'm sorry..." she said softly.

Olivia shook her head. "I don't remember you..."

Zach shook his head. "It's okay..."

Raini gently sat her up. "What do you remember," she asked softly, making sure her voice didn't quiver like her lip did.

Kale sighed, looking down. She didn't know what to say or do.

Olivia thought for a moment. "I'm not sure...." She said, starting to freak out.

Zach held onto Kale's hand. "It's okay," he told her quietly.

Raini stroked her hair, hugging her gently. "It's alright," she murmured softly. "Relax, sweetheart. Give it a moment, it might come to you."

She sighed and nodded. "I know..."

She slowly started to freak out and started crying.

Zach hugged her.

Raini held her gently, rubbing her back soothingly.

Slowly, Sam opened her eyes, looking around confused.

"Who are you to me?" Olivia asked, looking up at the woman holding her.

Brados breathed. Thank god she was alive. "Hey, baby," he murmured softly, spreading the crushed leaves onto her wounds.

"I'm your Mommy, sweetheart," she murmured softly. "You're my daughter, Olivia."
