'Well, this isn't awkward at all,' she thought sarcastically, looking around the restaurant curiously, mainly at the pictures and decorations on the walls.

When had he gained this sudden rotton luck. He was attracted to a girl who was a goody two shoes, so there was no thong out of the pants, no drinks, and no dirty talking. He sighed, swigging down his drink, and then cleared his drink. "How, um, is the book that you're reading?" he asked.

Alex turned her attention back to him. "It's good. It's got everything; mystery, drama, action, humor, romance. They tie together wonderfully."

He nodded his head. "Maybe... would you mind... lending it to me?" Russel hadn't read a book for fun since... well, the beginning of existence. There was no bookworm bone in his body. But then, it's not like it would hurt him.

"Really," she asked, looking at him with a surprised expression. "Yeah, sure. It's in my car. I'll get it for you once we leave," she promised with a small smile.

"I do know how to read," he pointed out, his lips curving into a slight smile. "You know, I used to read a lot. Particularly about that cat in that hat." Russel teased. Ordering a refill of his whiskey, he was even more pleased when it came back alongside with their food. Everything looked delicious.

She couldn't help but laugh. "That used to be my favorite book when I was little," she chuckled. Mom used to call me Thing Three; I tried to fly a kite in the house using the fan and ended up breaking the glass of her china cabinet," she smiled sheepishly.

She smiled when their food arrived. "Looks great," she smiled and took a bite. "Tastes great, too," she said after she swallowed.

Russel laughed. "Am I to believe that you were a little hellraiser?" The thought made him laugh once more as he tried to picture a younger Alex running around with pig tails, and flushed cheeks, wreaking all sorts of havoc. It was once that this thought went away that he realized he had been thinking it. That had probably been the first time that he had ever pictured a girl as a little girl, just having fun. He normally spent his time visually girls in his bed.

She laughed, too. "Yeah, seems kinda off, doesn't it? You should have seen me when I was with my cousins. We did all kinds of crazy stuff," she smiled unguardedly at the memories.

"Oh, really, now?" he asked, an amused grin on his face. "I assume that there was no arson, at least?" Russel asked, a mock serious expression on his face. He laughed softly once more, finding it enjoyable to know that even Miss Goody Two-Shoes had a bad streak buried deep down. Perhaps he could reawaken it.

She laughed and shook her head. "Oh, no. No arson, I can assure you that," she chuckled. "But we 'tp-ed' our grandpa's Christmas tree one year instead of putting ornaments on it. He didn't mind at all, we just went along with it," she laughed.

"How amusing." Russel said, grinning as he placed down his glass of whiskey. something that not many people believed about Russel was that he had been a geek when he had been younger. Obviously not a bookish sort of geek, but more of a music geek so to speak. For a very long time he had been in a piano class, and had been apart of his church choir. Another aspect of his childhood was that he had wanted to take dance class.

She smiled and took a drink of her tea. "I'm sorry, I keep rambling on," she apologized sheepishly. "What about you? I'm sure you didn't always have this much attention."

"True.." he said, blushing soflty. He normally didn't like to blather on about his days of geekdom mostly because he tended to be self conscious about it. Russel had been a scrawny boy, and for the longest time his father gave him garbage for it, calling him a pansy and a nancy boy. Well, he had certainly showed him. "I was... quiet as a kid." Russel said, running a hand through his hair. "Music was my life," he hesistated. "Dancing, too... I had wanted to be a performer on Broadway."

"Really," she asked with a smile. The smile wasn't a teasing one, but showed she was truly interested. "I like music, too, just not the hard rock stuff. It's too loud for me, personally," she explained.

"Well, it's easier for a person to be a rockstar," he said softly, "Then to be a Broadway singer. I mean, when you're a rock star, you can just scream into the mic and the whole crowd goes nuts. But Broadway? That takes a lot more talent." Talent that he hadn't been able to perfect as a child. He couldn't sing like he had hoped he could have, and he couldn't dance. He certainly wasn't a triple threat. "My dad... he didn't really like the thought of me wanting to be on Broadway."

She nodded as he explained, and frowned when he told her about his dad. "I'm so sorry. I'm sure you would have been great. I would have willingly gone to see you, then," she chuckled, trying to make a joke of it.

He laughed softly. "Thanks." Russel knew that now he wouldn't be able to go on Broadway. Most of the performers on Broadway had been training since a very young age. He didn't hate his career as a rockstar, though sometimes he couldn't help but wonder about what could have been. "But, um, how about you?" he asked. "What did you want to be when you were younger? What do you want to be now?"

Alex thought a moment. "I never really thought about it. I mean, I thought I'd want to be a vet or something. But I started watching those shows on Animal Planet about the abused animals, so I knew what to expect, and I couldn't handle it, so I gave that up. Now I'm going into something with computers and technology. I figure it's a good field since there's always something new," she pointed out.

"I see." Russel said, nodding his head, and starying to work on his lunch. "Music is sort of like that, too." Between all of the new gimmicks for musicians to use, and all of the new forming genres, as well as the techniqual kind of things. There was always something different going. "You would be an interesting techie." he added, chuckeling.

She smiled. "Yeah, I know," she chuckled, too. "Mom thinks I should write a book or something. I only get sporadic inspiration for stories, but I never follow through all the way."

"Nah, I think that you could be cute as a technie." he teased. "Wearing those huge head phones, getting all pale from spending hours infront of the computer. Like a littiel vampire girl." he laughed and then finished off his lunch. Russel was thankful that things were more comfortable now, and not as uptight as they had been before.

She laughed. "Oh, my mother would just love that," she laughed at the vampire comment. "Like I'm not pale enough from reading inside," she chuckled, shaking her head as she ate her last bite.

"Well, at least you don't sparkle." he offered, grinning. Russel personally did not like the Twilight series. Now, this was not because he had read it and hadn't like it. It was because when they had been amking the first movie, his band had been pretty much harassed by the movie makers to use a few of his songs in the movie. He had refused due to their rudeness.

She rolled her eyes. "I don't get why the Twilight vampires sparkle. They're not supposed to turn to 'living stone' once they die," she ranted and shrugged. "Oh, well."
