| She sang along quietly, having heard the song on the radio at least once every hour. It just stuck. | |

| "I wanna be just as close as the Holy Ghost is... And laaaay you down," Russel paused for a minute, the music swaying through his body. As he sang the final line, he seemed to be looking at Alex. "On a bed of roses..." The badn finished their practicing and cheered eachother on. Everyone was pumped for the shpw and began filing to their proper stage directions on stage. |

| Alex thought he was looking at her, and blinked, blushing a bit. Enough for someone about fifty feet away to notice, though barely. The words didn't make her blush - it was the emotion behind the words, and the fact that he looked towards her. | |

| Being an entertainer was in Russel's blood. When the spot light went on him he was no longer the brainless womanizer. He was an artist, a performer. Russel was the paintbrush and the stage was the canvas. His voice filled the hall as the band rocked out and even broke into a few power ballad covers every now and then. Once they reached the end, there seemed to be a dimming of the lights as he started to talk. "I wrote this song a long time ago for someone very special to me. Bed of Roses, everyone!" And throughout the cheering, he began to sing. |

| For someone special to him? Alex' brain began to turn, wondering who it was. He cut his hair for this person, wrote a song... All right after she'd been to the one that Jen had taken her to, it seemed. She thought a moment, biting her lip. She'd wondered why he'd chosen her to come to Italy and deal with advertising. Could he have written the song for her? No... It was impossible. She's never had a guy crush on her. Maybe it was Jen, and he was being nice to Alex to try to make up for his mistake. That had to be it. | |

| "Thank you, everybody! You're a beautiful audience!" As the concert ended and people began to leave the hall to go and buy t-shirt and what not, he sighed contently. He always felt great after a show. He walked backstage and grabbed a water bottle from the mini fridge. Draining half the bottle, he ran a hand through his hair and groaned softly. From the corner of his eye he saw a girl walk up to him. A groupie. Turning, he chuckeled seeing a long haired Italian girl with beautiful eyes and a body to match.
"Ciao." she said, raising a brow.
Russel grinned. "Ciao." |

| Alex furrowed her eyebrows and sighed, trying to figure out who it was. She was stuck on the idea now, though she had no reason why. Could she be jealous of this supposed person? It's true that Russel was turning out to be a close friend of hers, but did she like him like that? Hmm... Did she? She wasn't sure, suddenly. Her mind went back to Jen. If this girl was, in fact, Jen, then he would have tried to contact her by now, wouldn't he? Oh, dear... Maybe she was over thinking things now... She sighed, going to see if she could find one of his bandmates to tell her what was going on, or ask Russel himself. | |

| "I hear in the big magazines that Russel is living the celibate life now for his music." the girl laughed softly, and gently rested a hand on his shoulder. "It doesn't suit you, my darling. You need passion in your life, a passion that your hand cannot give you." she chuckled once more at Russel's flushed face. "The old Russel would never be embarassed by such words. You have changed so much!" she gasped gently, laughing once more. "Let me make you feel better, rock star." And without even giving him the chance to talk, she kissed him.
Russel's eyes widened, and for a moment he thought about Alex. He cared about her, but it didn't seem fair to tell his body not to do something that felt so natural to him. There was no denying that he was a passionate person with a lust for life and that he enjoyed having a partner in bed. So in his moment of weakness he gave in and kissed her back. |

| Alex found ever member of the band busy with either moving equipment, or signing autographs. Sighing, she went to find Russel to ask him directly. She finally found him, and froze midstep when she did. Though part of her expected this, she still found herself hurt. She left without a word, though there was a touch of hurt in her eyes that she wasn't sure he'd paid attention to. She closed the door behind her and went to go find something to do, something to work on. | |

| Russel had thought that maybe he had seen Alex, but the girl was already urging him to go to his dressing room with her before he could really think. He was not a monk, it was hard for him to go on for so long without any physical pleasure. With a soft sigh, he silently apologized to Alex even though he had no reason to apologize. If she was intererested in him, it was her own fault for not telling him. |

| She finally decided to go work on the advertising that she'd been brought here for. She made sure everything was set and ready for their next destination and made sure the banner was done. She made some changes to it, just for something to do, and sighed, folding her arms on the table in front of her and burying her face in her arms. How could she have been so stupid, so blind? She was usually the first one to notice if a guy liked Jen or any other girl. How could she not have seen it with Russel? | |

| An hour or so later, the girl left his room. Russel lay on his couch, zipping up fly to his jeans. He had scratch marks on his back and probably a love bite or two, but he wasn't satisfied. Shaking his head, her pressed his hands to his face and let himself break down. Why was it so hard for him to be happy? Why did she have to change everything when it had been fine before? |

| Alex sighed, running her fingers through her hair as the girl walked past her. Alex paid not attention, though a few foul words played in her mind after her. She sighed again, rolling up the banner as she heard everyone call that they were leaving for the road soon. She'd paint it during the next concert. As she finished gathering her things, she climbed onto the tour bus and put them away, putting a sign on the bathroom door that she was taking a shower. She did so, staying in for about half an hour until she came out, dressed, with a towel on her head. She took the sign down and went to her bunk, drawing the curtain so she could be alone for a little while. | |

| Of cours she would be avoiding him. Russel sighed and felt the same heartbreak and regret that he would feel if- God forbid- they were dating. Shaking his head, he grabbed his guitar and went to go practise in a more private area of the bus. Why was he feeling guilty? He didn't belong to anyone. If he wanted to want sexual fulfillment, it was his own damned business. All of the poor bastards with erectile disfucntion probably got it after chasing the same girl for too long. |

| She scrubbed the towel on her head to dry her hair and laid down, her head on the pillow, facing the wall. He had no reason to apologize - he didn't belong to her, nor did she to him. Therefore, he did nothing wrong. But she couldn't deny the pain in her heart, so she let her tears fall silently into her pillow. | |

| After a half an hour or so, Russel placed down his guitar. Once the tour bus stopped in the next day, he was curious to see what sort of parties might be going on right then. Why not enjoy himself while he was in such a beautiful and exotic country? Sighing contently, he brushed some hair from his eyes and leaned back. It was time to embrace being a man again. |

| Alex woke up early in the morning, around sunrise and pushed the curtain aside, heading to the bathroom. Knocking and hearing no one inside, she went in and locked the door behind her, relieving herself and washing her hands. She got out and sighed, going to see what she could eat while she watched the sunrise. | |

| Russel yawned softly to himself and allowed himself to lie lazily in his bed. While he wasn't too much of a thinker, he did enjoy the idle hours of the morning where he could be alone with the few thoughts that he did have. While at first he had regretted being with the Italian girl at the concert, he was now starting to feel librerated from it. |

| Alex contented herself with a cup of hot chocolate and rested in the booth, looking out the window. There was no denying that this country was beautiful, especially with the sun rising to meet the horizon. She pulled her hair back with her fingers as if to brush it lazily and took the mug back in her hands, sipping the chocolate drink as she gazed out the window, trying to think about something other than Russel. | |

| After a few minutes Russel got out of his bed and stumbeled over to the bathroom. Getting in a quick shower, he walked out of the bathroom with the towel wrapped around his lean hips. He walked passed his sleeping bandmates and to his small room to get changed. Once he was dressed he came back out to grab himself some hot breakfast. |

| Alex looked up to see Russel getting himself some breakfast. "Good morning," she murmured, trying to act like she was fine. She thought she pulled it off fairly well. The hot chocolate helped a little, giving her something to hold onto or give her an excuse to hide her mouth as she did when she was embarrassed or uneasy. | |

| "Morning." he mumbeled, walking over to the cabinet and taking out one of the bowls. Grabbing a box of cornflakes, he poured in the cereal and then then milk. "Checking out the sunrise?" he asked, grabbing his spoon and digging into his breakfast. Russel was doing his best to see what it had been before that had attracted him to her. Perhaps the fact that she was unattainable. Well, he was through with playing around with girls who were too hard to get. |

| She nodded. "It's beautiful," she murmured, feeling awkward. Was he angry with her? He did have a right to be... Should she apologize for walking in on him and that girl? Or should she apologize for not realizing why he'd invited to her to Italy? She really wasn't experienced in the guy area, so she wasn't sure. She asked herself what she would tell Jen, and went with it. "I'm sorry," she murmured, looking down at her mug. "You have a right to be angry with me. I'm blind and stupid and I don't deserve to be here," she murmured quietly, not sure if he could hear. | |

| Russel was quiet for a few seconds before shrugging his shoulders. "Well, whatever." he finally said. "You're not interested in me, it's not like it's never happened before." Although this was the first time that it had happened in six years. "It isn't as if there aren't other girls who are fully interested." he paused to eat some more of his cereal. "I still want you to enjoy your time since you're already here." |

| She blushed, too embarrassed to admit that she was interested. "I'll try my best," she murmured, her lips touching the edge of her mug. How could she have enough courage to apologize, yet not enough to correct him? What a silly thing this feeling was, and completely irrational. | |
