| Alex raised her eyebrow. What did he mean by 'that girl'? "She's over there, with one of the drummers," she nodded in Jen's direction. "Why the sudden interest? You hardly wanted anything to do with her before." | |

| He rubbed at the back of his neck as he tried to think of something to say. "I just wanted to know whether or not you had come alone." With his sudden bad luck, it was stupid of him to have gotten his hopes up that she had. Hell, with his luck, she'd probably had her iPod with her and had been listening to other musicians during the concert. |

| "Nope," she said. "I prefer country," she said. "So, now you have even more fans. Congrats," she said, a hint of dryness in her voice. | |

| His eye tweeked slightly, and he did his best not to blurt out some smart-ass comment. "Why thank you." How in the world was he attracted to such a cynical woman? He was used to the dumb and stupid who did what he said and when he said it. |

| "Yep," she flashed him a grin and looked back at the women behind him. "I think they might form an angry mob if you don't get back to them soon," she said and smiled at him. "Good luck," she said and looked back down at her book. | |

| "Why aren't you apart of said angry mob?" Russel asked. "Or are you always this crotchety?" he asked before he could stop himself. Damnit it. Damn. Damn. He thought to himself. Honestly. If he weren't so good looking or a rockstar, he really would be screwed in the woman department. And not in the way that he was used to. |

| "Only when people are screaming in my ear," she told him, her eyes flashing to his fans, then up at him. "And when some rock star thinks he rules the world and no one else matters." | |

| "You don't know me." Russel said, staring down at the defiant woman. "I'm just some playboy to you." No one cared to know if he was any bit different from that. He was a rockstar so automatically he probably drank and did drugs. |

| "You didn't take the time to know Jen before you brushed her off," she reminded him. "Feels horrible, doesn't it? I'm surprised she still wanted to come." | |

| He scowled at her. "I apologized, didn't he?" Russel wisely decided to leave out the fact that he also hadn't called security on her when he could have. Somehow he knew that that would have only gotten him into more trouble. "I suppose..." he murmured softly, "That it sucks being judged before being given the chance to prove yourself." |

| She nodded. "Yes, you did apologize. I don't think I thanked you for that. Though she isn't as crazy about you, she's still a fan. You got her to calm down a bit before she got her heart really broken; thank you," she told him sincerely. "And yes, it does suck. Something some of us know much, much better than others. By the way," she said, looking up at his hair. "I like the haircut," she grinned, being honest. It did look much better than that mess of hair he used to have, that's for sure. She looked past him and frowned. "I really think you should get back to your fans... They're starting to foam at the mouth," she chuckled. "I should find Jen anyway." | |

| Russel couldn't help but self consciously touch his hand to his hair. But before he could really thank her, she had pointed out his fangirls, who were indeed practically foaming at the mouth with envy of Alex, a girl who didn't even like his music. Sighing, he watched as she walked off, unsatisfied with the fact that he feelings had gone away. God. He was starting to sound like a frickin' girl. Brushing his hair over her shoulder, he turned back to his fans. "Alright, Ladies." he murmured, grinning. "Who was first in line?" This was a dumb question for the room was soon filled with the screeches of, "ME! ME! ME!" |

| Alex put her book in her pocket and went off to find Jen. Of course, she got practically trampled by some of Russel's fans, and hadn't noticed that her book fell out of her pocket onto the ground, being kicked around by all the women. She finally found Jen and smiled. "Hey. Ready to go? Or you wanna wait a while longer?" | |

| "Ladies, Ladies! Please, calm down!" he cried, sighing when he noticed Alex leaving. Why couldn't she be just a little bit of a fangirl? But then, a part in his head told him that if she was, then he wouldn't be having this whole problem with being attracted to her. Darn him for also wanting what he could never have. Once he had finally fought all of the girls off, he noticed a book crammed underneath a loose floor board. "Hmm." he murmured, picking it up. Familiar. |

| Alex put her hands in her pockets and blinked, looking down. "Oh, no... Where'd my book go!?" She looked around frantically, retracing her steps; even then, she couldn't find it anywhere. "Oh, crap...." | |

| Russel leaned against the wall as he casually flipped through the book. He stopped when he came across a bookmark and took it out to see if there was a name written on the back. No luck. Shaking his head, he tried to think over which one of the girls in the room liked like someone who would be carrying a book around. Obviously it didn't belong to anyone in his band. As if any of them knew how to read. His eyes widened. He remembered who it belonged to. Her. |

| Alex groaned, not finding it anywhere she'd been that evening. "Craaaap, where is it," she whined, going backstage again to see if she could find it anywhere. She then started asking the band members and staff if they'd seen a book lying around, sighing when none of them had seen it. Most of the band members had left to go to after-parties. | |

| Russel couldn't help himself. He watched her grovel. It wasn't as satisfying as he would have hoped though, watching his smart mouthed crush going back and forth between his managers and band mates asking about the paperback novel that she had lost. After another minute or two, he got up from his seat and went to her. "Looking for this?" he asked her. |

| Alex nearly gave up, having no idea where else it could be. But then Russel came up to her, holding up her book. "My book," she exclaimed, relieved. "Thank you so much! Where was it," she looked up at him. | |

| Russel was almost taken back by the fact that she was thanking him and that she was happy with him. It would deffinately be best to never let her find out that he had spent about ten minutes watching her run around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to find it. "I found it shoved underneath one of the heaters." he answered. Partially shoved, anyway. |

| "Really? I could have sworn I looked under all of them..." she thought a moment and shrugged it off, smiling up at him. "Thanks again," she said, sounding happy and relieved. | |

| Of course he had made sure to take it before it had occured to her to go all over the place looking for her book. "I'm glad that I was able to return it to you before he left." he said, offering her one of his trademark 'side smiles'. Well, he didn't feel like such an imbecile, but he was still far from being his old self. "Erm, Alex," he murmured, surprised he still remembered her name. "Since I found your book, I should think it only fair that you have lunch with me tomorrow." He deserved a reward, right? |

| "Lunch? With you? Tomorrow," Alex asked, blinking. Why would he want lunch with her? She wasn't one of his fans at all; she'd told him that. "Uhh... Sure," she said, figuring why not? And she did have to thank him somehow for finding her book. "Just tell me the time and place." | |

| He was surprised to find that she had said yes so easily. Brushing some hair from his eyes, he then started to list off the restaurants name and then location. "How is seven o'clock?" he asked. Russel wasn't sure whether or not to offer for her friend to come as well, lest it seem suspcious that he was asking her out. |

| Alex nodded. "Seven's fine," she said. "Should I meet you there," she asked, suddenly feeling crazy for agreeing to this. The media would be sure to get this, meaning a lot of unwanted attention on her. Da*n! | |
