Darrick blinked, " What in heaven's name is up with her?"

" She thinks you replaced her" Damien said.

"Replaced her?" Carmella asked, surprised by this information. When her mother had been pregnant with her little sister, she had been the happiest in the world. While she couldn't understand why Lizzy was saddened to see Clover, she still gave the baby to Darrick and went to go and check on her oldest daughter. "Lizzy?" she asked, opening her door.

Damien looked at the baby curious.

The red headed little girl looked knowingly at her new brother and giggled happily. Reaching her hand out to him, she gurgled cutely and then yawned sleepily. It took up a lot of energy to be as adorable as she was. Yawning once more, she buried her head against her new father's shoulder. For the time being she was quite relaxed.

" So she odoptoed?" Damien said.

Darrick laughed gently, " She's your mom's actual child but yes I'm gonna adopt her."

Carmella carried a sniffeling Lizzy down the stairs, trying to soothe the little girl. Several times Lizzy would cry, "I don't want to see the baby!" and "Why am I being replaced?". The thing that she seemed to say the most, however, was "Why does Daddy want another little girl? Why aren't I good enough?" Carmella sighed, and looked at Darrick for help.

" Lizzy we didn't plan this. Heck I didn't know about her." he said gently, " Would it be mean of daddy to not let her live here when she has no family of her own?" he said.

She sniffeled. "It would be mean," she agreed. "But now you don't want me anymore." Basically, since she had seen her father holding the new baby and playing with her, Lizzy had assumed that he didn't want her anymore and that he loved the new baby more than he had ever loved her. It was hard going from being the only little girl in your father's life to suddenly having competition.

" Oh Lizzy," he gave clover to carmella and scopped her up in his arms. " You know I'll always love you.

Lizzy sniffled and wrapped her arms around her father's neck, hugging him tightly. She was a Daddy's Girl to the core, and didn't like the thought of having to share him with the new baby. Over time, though, despite herself she would learn to love the baby with all of her heart. That was just the kind of girl that Lizzy was. Stubborn to a fault, yet with a big heart.

Darrick craddled her gently.

"You'll always love me, right?" she asked, looking at her father with sad eyes. As he cradled her, she was soothed, and closed her eyes. For the time being it was like she wasn't a five year old anymore, but the little two year old that had depended on her father for everything. Lizzy couldn't help but enjoy these times when her father was there for her.

" I promise" he said gently

Lizzy sniffled and kissed his cheek. "G-good." she whispered, finally turning around to look at her new baby sister. Admittedly the little girl was cute, though she didn't understand where she got her red hair. She didn't even remember her mother being pregnant at all like most other mommies where when they had babies.

Darrick would tell them when they were older what had happened. Darrick wanted another kid but this wasn't exactly what he meant.

Carmella knew that Darrick would be expecting an explanation later. It was one thing for her to have kept Charles a secret, but for her to have kept her first child a secret was another thing completely. Sighing softly to herself, Carmella wondered if Darrick was concidering leaving her for a woman who was more innocent and trustworthy.

Darrick wouldn't question her. She had a life before him and there wasn't a reason to judge her. She hadn't known he would be coming into her life back then. Heck, she was older than he. He was only alive in the 18th centuary.

Techiqually she was older than him, but physically he was older. When she had been frozen in time she had been seventeen years old; When Darrick had been frozen he had been eighteen, almost nineteen years old. Sighing softly to herself, Carmella craddled Clover against her bosom, taking a seat on the old rocking chair in the corner.

It was a weird concept but it made sense. It was the reason for years to come that she was the matriarch of the family

As the night went on, the chuldren were eventually put to bed. Carmella sighed softly to herself and went to prepare herself a pot of tea. "Would you like something to drink, Sweetheart?" she asked Darrick, looking thoughtfully at him and smiling. "Maybe something to eat, too?" she asked. Even though he wasn't going to question her, she still feared that he would.

" I'm fine love" Darrick said gently.

Carmella looked at him thoughtfully before shrugging her shoulders. "Nothing at all?" She waited patiently for the tea pot to boil, sighing softly to herself when it finally did. Taking a tea bag and placing it into the tea cup, she then started to put in the hot water. Watching as the water filled to the top, she smiled gently and then gently dipped in the tea bag.

" I'm fine" he said nodding.

Carmella sighed softly and then took her cup of tea and walked upstairs to their bedroom to change into her pajamas. Sighing gently once more she then stripped of her clothes and put on her negligee. Darrick wasn't questioning her and for some reason this seemed to make her feel even more guilty. She didn't know what she wanted anymore.

Darrick sighed and layed on the couch.
