Deryk tried to make her as comfortable as possible, holding her close and cradling her with the blanket around her so she didn't get cold.

Kat yawned softly, curling into his chest with a soft smile. "I love you Deryk..."

Deryk stroked her hair softly. "I love you, too, Kitty," he murmured to her.

She smiled and pulled his hand to her lips, kissing his fingers softly.

He stroked her hair and kissed the top of her head. He was tired of the hospital; he wanted to take her home and tuck her into their bed so she could get some restful sleep. He had to go to work, too, he thought to his disappointment. His boss had been giving him a paid vacation while he was in the hospital with Kat, but his boss needed him back at work. Deryk sighed softly, wondering who would take care of Kat while he was gone at work.

Kat sat up, kissing him gently. "You need to go to work.. And I need to go home... I have alot of stuff to sort out..." She was amazed at how well timed the nurses in the hospital were, smiling as they said that everything checked out and she could go home.

"You're going to lay down and get some food and sleep," he told her. "We'll sort everything out later, together."

Kat sighed, nodding. "Okay... I can do that..."

Deryk stroked her cheek and kissed her softly before he took her hand and walked out of the hospital room.

Kat kissed his cheek before sliding out of the bed. She let her stability come back before walking out with Deryk since she'd only gotten out of the bed a few times.

Deryk walked slowly and held onto her, making sure she didn't fall. He'd carry her out of there if he needed to, but he was taking her home-no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Kat smiled gently up at him, holding on to him as he held on to her. She'd get out of there... It was too oppressing otherwise.

He finally reached the door and walked out with her, helping her into his truck and getting into the driver's seat. He'd get her to sleep before he started taking down the crib that was in their room, and putting the baby toys away; all of them somewhere out of sight.

Kat leaned her head back, closing her eyes. She wanted to sleep, but the vision of being able to hold her son smacked her full awake, so she turned the radio on to a rather slow country song. She sang along with it, her eyes locked on the road ahead of them.

Deryk parked the truck in his normal spot and helped her out, then up to their apartment door. Bracing himself mentally and emotionally, he unlocked the door and kept his eyes down, kicking off his shoes. His hands never lost contact with her, always ready to catch her if she fell.

Kat closed her eyes when they got to his apartment door. She didn't want to see the other side. Alot of the kids at school, contrary to what she thought would happen, had done something for them or John. And then she realized that she couldn't keep pressing down the memories. So, she straightened up and opened her eyes, walking with Deryk through the living room: past the piles of blue and white outfits, the box for the crib, all of it.

Deryk walked her to their room and laid her down in bed, kissing her forehead. "Get some sleep, love," he whispered. "I'll take care of everything."

Kat wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him into a close hug. "I love you Deryk..."

He held her close, wanting to take away everything that had ever hurt her and prevent it from ever happening again. "I love you, too, Kitty," he kissed her softly and tucked her in.

Kat smiled gently, laying back on the pillow. She closed her eyes, slow breaths ebbing out of her.

He kissed her forehead softly and went to go pack all the baby things away, putting them into the back of his covered truck so they wouldn't see them; he covered them with a blanket that was never used to ensure that they wouldn't.

Kat fell asleep fast. If Deryk wasn't home when she got up, then she'd go talk to her parents alone... If he was there, she'd still probably go alone as she had no idea what would happen if they both showed up.

Deryk checked the clock once he got back inside and sighed; he had to head to work. He took a quick shower and got dressed, kissing Kat's forehead softly and leaving her a note before he left for work.

Kitty,
I'm sorry, but I had to go to work. I didn't want to wake you up. Make sure you eat something, babe - you gotta get your strength back up.

Kat slept for a few more hours, finally waking up around Deryk's break time. She didn't know if he'd get home for a bit before she left or not, so she didn't hesitate. She changed into her old soccer sweats and a loose football jersey, sliding into her flip-flops. "Back to hell..." She picked up a pen, writing just beneath Deryk's note.

Went to see my parents. Didn't know when to expect you... See you when you get home.

Though he felt horrible for it, Deryk didn't go home for his break - he worked strait through it. He wanted to catch up on the work he'd missed, trying to show his boss that he really wanted to keep his job and didn't want to be fired. He didn't care if he ended up getting sick over it - he had to keep his job. For Kat, if nothing else.
