Truth be told, both of her parents held their own quirks. Neither came from noble blood, but the blood of poor farmers and tradesmen. From a very young age, Miriam had been frail and had been bed ridden for most of her childhood. It was only when she reached her teenaged years that she had started to blossom. She had been let outside, and it soon changed her for the better. She gained a color to her skin, and a soft curl to her hair from the wind. However, in the past few years, due to depression, every now and then Miriam's frail side would come back.

Depression would bring on the worst in people, even weaken them. Michael even proved how badly depression and anger together would affect a man. His parents, well, he never even remembered them. His own father walked out at the tender age of three, never to be seen or heard from again. Michael was abandoned, with only a mother to be around with. He never learned how to be a true man, a chivalrous man.

Despite everything, Miriam remembered meeting Michael for the first time. They had gone to the same school together, though due to the lack of respect women's education recieved, she wasn't in any of the same classes as his. While she was off to her etiquette lesson, he was off to study arithmetic. Every now and then, though, she would see him in the hallways as she walked to classes. Michael was awakward, as well as easily angered. It had been while he had been spazzing out towards another classmate that they had finally had the chance to talk. He had ended up knocking her books out of her hands while she had been passing him in the hallway, and she had been forced to drop to her knees and start to pick them up. Through all of the laughing, she had been surprised to see that he had kneeled down and was helping her pick him up. It had been then that she had started to see that while he wasn't perfect, he had a really big heart.

Michael really was a jerk at first, hell, he was rebellious when they met. He didn't really know how to deal with his feelings much. He only disliked her for the very fact that she was in better standards than him. Had two parents instead of one like him. Still, once he picked up her books and looked at her up close, that's the first time his heart ever beat so fast.

Perhaps it was silly to have found such a small, clumsy encounter to be romantic. Either way, this did not stop Miriam from growing fascinated with Michael. He was awkward and rebellious and oh-so intriquing. She found herself wondering what color he liked best on a girl and then what colors looked best on her. Did gold bring out the color of her hair? Did blue make her eyes pop? Did he even care? Throughout her awkward adolescent years Miriam had never felt more self doubt in herself. All over a boy. Her mother would have tutted at her and slapped her palm for getting so head over heels for someone like Michael. But even the most severe lashing possible did not change her feelings.

Michael really didn't consider much. He always thought women liked strong and intrusive men. Or at least the kind that knew how to take charge. Still, that was probably his downfall. He realized that as he went over things in his head as he stood outside. He wouldn't blame Miriam for probably resenting him, even a little. He really did act like a bastard.

Love really did have the ability to blind a person's logic. Michael was not always the smartest man and on the day that God was handing out common sense he had obviously been absent. Despite all of these flaws, though, Miriam couldn't bring herself to be ashamed of him or even a little embarassed. Even if he commited the most heinous and ridiculous of all crimes, in the end she would probably still be there beside him. That was just the kind of person that she was; Loyal to a fault.

Yes, but it was her downfall. Michael sighed, sitting by the stoop near the front entrance of the mansion. "When will she come out here?" he mumbled to himself, rubbing his chin despite the thick beard. Hell, cause of all the drinking and regret, guilt included, he could see gray hairs coming in. "Damn I messed up bad..." he added, holding his face with his hands and taking deep breaths.

Was it possible for a person to go on through life without cooking up a little bit if regret? As long as humans remained human that was how it was going to be until the end of time. Miriam sighed softly to herself as she looked into the clean mirror. It seemed like such a long time ago since she had really looked at herself in the mirror. She looked so tired for some reason, tired but not sad. Deep down inside, it was as if she had predicted that things wouldn't be bad forever. She was just tired waiting for things to fix themself.

Well, Michael is willing to put in the work to make up for things he had done. Especially to his wife and kids. He had been so terrible and blind that he hadn't realized he was pushing away those he loved. It was ridiculous, he was ashamed. Even as he waited for Miriam, he just had a feeling she might just go off on him any second if he pushed the wrong buttons.

It was silly to think that Miriam would blow up on him. Miriam just did not have a begruding bone in her body. She didn't hold things against people, always being that one sympathetic shoulder to cry on. With a soft sigh, she eventually left the room. She was a bit surprised to see her usband waiting for her, byt offered him a small smile nonetheless.

Michael stood up quickly, but shifted his glance to the ground. It was almost like he was acting shy, but obviously it was out of guilt that he acted so sketchy. "Hello, Miriam....I'm sorry if I've broken the peace within this house. It's grand, really, I can't complain that Mary certainly met a good man." he mumbled, coughing a bit.

Miriam watched as her husband fumbeled over his words, her smile softening. Her poor, kind husband. She gently rested her hand on his shoulder, her own way of stopping him from talking. "It's alright, my Love," she murmured, her voice soft and sweet like it had always been. "I understand." She gently embraced him and kissed his cheek. He had been through so much.

"You've accepted my faults for way too long. Let me hear your side of the story...please." Michael asked, almost pleading. He knew that she must've had some thoughts she kept to herself. Something. Anything. He hugged her tightly, kissing her face and lips.

That was one of Miriam's biggest faults. While she didn't hold any grudges or complaints towards people this tended to make them feel even worse if they had felt that they had wronged her in one way or another. "I understand that you're hurting," she murmured softly, brushing her lips against his. "That you blame yourself for what happened. But it isn't your fault."

Michael sighed, shaking his head. Even despite his actions in the past, she forgave him. What more could he want?! He smiled weakly, almost tearing up. He couldn't help it. He was lucky. But would his daughter be as forgiving? What about his son? God, he could've torn the family apart! "I love you, I really do, Miriam." he mumbled, kissing her once more.

"I love you too, Michael." she said gently, kissing him back. Miriam may not have been the strongest of people or as bright a scholar, but she did have a big heart. Her biggest part in life was nurturing and tending to the ones that she cared about the most. In the end she could only hope for the best for their whole family. She wanted nothing more for them to all be together.

Michael sighed, loving the feel of her lips against his again. He actually felt and enjoyed himself for once. "I swear I'll make up for my wrong doings..." he promised, hugging her tightly. He sighed as he heard thunder, surprised. "It's going to rain, we should go back inside." he said, holding her hand and kissing it softly as he smiled.

Miriam smiled, "Do things at your own pace, Michael. Everything will be alright soon." She knew that he would make up for the wrong things that he had done in the past. Michael never had been nor would he ever be a bad person. She would give him all of the help that he needed as well as all of the help that she could possibly give. As it began to rain, she took his hand and walked back inside of the mansion with him.

Michael sighed as he walked back inside the mansion. He could still feel the tension but it was lighter. He felt light, too. He didn't think he had the weight of a million boulders on his head and back. "So, did you have to cancel many gatherings?" he asked, feeling a bit bad. But at least this gave them some time together. Julian had been at the stairs, watching a bit. He smiled as he saw the two reconcile.

Miriam laughed softly and shook her head, as if to tell him not to fret or worry over any previous invitations that she'd had to cancel. "I'm not a young girl anymore, Michael," she said thoughtfully. "And I'm not a bluebood either. Deep down, I think it's a bit silly for me to be going out and mingeling with people whom wouldn't give me a look otherwise if I didn't happen to have a rich son-in-law." She paused and carefully brushed some hair out of his eyes. "My place is with you."

Michael sighed, shaking his head. "This is a lifestyle I would love to give you. Money, comfort, and at least better food than what we used to eat. I'm sure you can't help but like this sort of luxury." he mumbled, feeling worse for himself. What kind of man was he?

A gentle laugh passed from Miriam's lips. "Oh, Michael," she murmured, gently placing her hand upon his shoulder. "such a life isn't meant for me. I like our life. Even if it's simple and small, it is still our life." Her voice was very soft and loving. "The life style that I want to continue to live by is the one that involves you and me living together. I've always been happy as long as I can be with you."

He knew he had to stop feeling sorry for himself and actually prove something. But, he was a pathetic man.... "I'm sorry..will you come home with me? So we can work things out?" Michael asked hesitantly. He had at least gathered the courage to ask her, so, he knew he must have the courage to fix his mistakes.

Miriam smiled and nodded her head. "Yes, my dear. Of course." she replied, her voice happy. "Me and Else will return once we get the chance to." She had started to feel bad imposing on Mary and Julian and was pleased that she could now go home with the man that she loved. In the end, it was hard for her to not posess anything but unconditional love for him.
