| Julian was in a way burdened, but it was part of their life. He couldn't just ignore Mary's family, no matter if her father is a bastard or not. It was obvious that perhaps he was put in his place, hopefully. Laying down in bed, arms crossed behind his head, he looked at the door, staring. He hoped to at least talk with her about it, about the situation they were dealt with. | |

| It was obvious that she couldn't just stay in her own room for the night. Then he would assume the worst, and while she was a little bit worried, it wasn't enough to make a mountain out of. Once she had finished dressing and then blushing her hair, she sighed and walked over to the connecting door and opened it. |

| Julian had already by then fallen asleep. It was a cool night, and very quiet. This would be peaceful to him amongst the racket from Mary's father's muttering. He sighed, turning on his side beneath the covers and continuing to sleep. | |

| She stood there, watching him in the door way for a few minutes. Right from the beginning he had already had to put up with so much because of her. He had helped her sneak out of her home and leave behind a life of poverty that had been taking her no where. Then he had also taken her mother and her mother's maid to a better life as well. And now her father. How did he put up with her? Running a hand through her black hair, she sighed and then walked over to the bed and laid down. Perhaps it would be best to just relax and sleep. |

| in the beginning, they both had to put up with a lot with each other. First was their personalities and morals. Then it was the damn sexual tension! As soon as he had to do that, he couldn't think straight and Mary didn't exactly help him out in that. Then again, they both tortured each other in some small way. Putting up with her thought proved how much he liked her. He sighed, not knowing at all that she was watching him. | |

| What had she done in life that had brought her here? Things like this just didn't happen, not unless it was a fairy tale. In the time that they lived in, a couple was meant to marry for convienience, not love. But then, Mary thought to herself, that was what they had done initially. Sighing softly, she closed her eyes, and let all of her thoughts fade away. |

| They both seemed to lead on with their lives and their own business. But, for a reason, Fate brought them together. They did marry for convenience, at first, but later on, it seemed to now be more focused on love. At least, Julian liked to think they were in love. Still, the night went on and he slept, but with troubling thoughts. | |

| Mary wasn't having much luck falling asleep, herself. How could she? Between her father's unexpected arrival, and Julian's obvious stress, she wasn't sure how to feel. And of course all of this uncertainty was doing nothing but giving her terrible insomnia. |

| Julian did sleep through the night, but hardly a peaceful one. As soon as he woke, he was restless. Not just the fact that his own wife didn't join him later on in bed, but that the reality was still there. Her father, continued to make things worse even with just his presence. Getting up, he dressed, smelling breakfast already being served. With a deep breath, he went downstairs, leaving Mary to at least be by herself and think. | |

| Despite everything, Mary did not want to blame all of the awkwardness on her father. There wasn't any real reason for anyone to feel uncomfortable. Yes, Michael had deffinately stirred up a few things, but no one was hurt or dead. They should try their best to continue on with their lives. |

| As Julian sat down for breakfast, Michael joined in as well. They both had one thing in common, which was to leave their women be at the moment. Sighing, they both said good morning to each other. Eating silently, they prayed their wives would come down soon. | |

| Miriam lay under her warm, wool covers, staring up at the ceiling. Her husband had come for her. She knew that it meant something. If he hadn't cared about her, he wouldn't have come looking. Michael wasn't the sort of man to view women as items. He must have come because he had missed her. Yet, despite knowing this, she wasn't sure how she felt about it. |

| Michael did love Miriam, but he had demons that he hid away from her. Those are what consumed him. He felt terrible, just horrible at how he acted towards his children and his wife. Despicable. "I'm sorry for yesterday, I shouldn't have done that." he mumbled to Julian, whom in turn chuckled and smiled. "It's nothing, I understand totally.." Julian replied, eating his breakfast. The two only smiled again, understanding each other slightly. | |

| Eventually both mother and daughter arose from bed, and prepared for the morning. While the maids made their beds, the women dressed and descended down the staircase. Of course, this was not together, for the two women walked down seperate staircases that lead to the kitchen. |

| But once they sat down, both men felt much better. "Sleep well, Miriam?" Michael asked, smiling weakly. He knew she was probably skeptical about him. Julian only sighed. Poor man was even trying. | |

| Of course Miriam wasn't going to deliberately ignore her husband! For goodness sakes, she had been with him since she had been the tender age of fifteen. Brushing some of her cornsilk blonde hair from her eyes, she offered him a soft smile. " I did, thank you." she said softly, and then added,"Good morning, Michael." |

| Michael nodded, sighing. "And good morning to you, Miriam. You too, Mary." he said, coughing. This was probably the first time in a long while since he was ever this docile. Julian was glad it wasn't that tense this morning. "So, any plans for today, girls?" he asked, smiling. | |

| They hadn't planned doing anything worth fully mentioning. Miriam had properly entered Society a month ago, and normally had a full scheduele planned. But with her husband back, she found that the person that she wanted to spend time with the most was him. Shrugging her shoulders gently, Miriam explained that she was be rewriting her scheduele. |

| Julian nodded, Michael smiled. He would try to redeem himself, but he knew it would take years before all is at least forgiven. Julian would glance at Mary, wondering what she was thinking at the moment. Did she believe that she was a burden as well as her parents? He never thought of it in that way, only that her father was causing so much tension, especially within him with the fear of losing his wife. | |

| Mary didn't know what to feel currently. She was pleased to see her parents finally reconciling after a very long astrangment from eachother, but she was still worried that their prescence was annoying Julian. Of course she knew that Julian was far too good of a man to quick both of her parents out, but it still made her worry if her prescence and their prescence was burdening him and causing him more stress than he needed. |

| Long after breakfast was done, Julian remained at the table, thinking. Michael had already stood and hoped that Miriam would take the hint. He wanted to talk with her, explain why he had done what he had. He soon left, outside where he could breathe and not feel the tension. | |

| Before Miriam could do any talking with Michael, she first needed to send word that she would be dismissing several of her meetings that day. Several teas would be canceled, as well as a nuncheon at twelve. One really needed to pay a hefty price if they wanted to be in the lime light of Society. |

| Michael sighed, waiting outside still. Whether she followed him or not, he wanted to breathe for once. Being inside, it felt stuffy and..way too awkward. Julian rubbed the back of his neck, sighing. "This is calming down at least.." he mumbled, smiling at Mary. Hopefully though, she didn't think this was all a burden. It wasn't. Just a bit of a challenge to get through. | |

| "I wonder what my parents were like when they were our age." she said thoughtfully, almost absentmindedly. She had never seen her father so worried and nervous, especially not for her mother. Had he been like this when he had first started to court her? Or had he been suave and charming? Mary had to bite back some laughter. Somehow, she just could not see her father as suave or charming. He wasn't charming even on his very best of days. At least, not whenever she had seen him. |

| "Well, we might never know. Unless you ask your mother maybe." Julian smiled, chuckling. "Of course, I'm sure that..if we have children, they'll ask the same thing." he grinned. Still, in his better days, Michael was anything but suave. He was stubborn and always clumsy, which was an odd combination. Still, he did fall head over heels for Miriam, until debt began to collect and soon haunt his very dreams. | |
