| "Leave my estate, now or else." Julian warned, stepping towards Mary's father. Michael however wasn't prepared to back down. "Miriam, tell me this isn't possible. Did our daughter really marry such a brute?" he asked, looking down at his own wife. | |

| Miriam took a deep breath before she finally answered her husband. "Michael, please," she murmured, her voice soft and only slightly chastising. "You are being antagonistic, and in your own way, a brute." she answered. It wasn't fair of him to treat Julian in such a way when he hardly knew the poor fellow. |

| Michael sighed, closing his eyes and looking over at Miriam. He couldn't believe his wife, but he knew that he had to trust her judgment. He stayed silent, sighing again. Julian watched the man, but sighed also. "Mary, would it be best to let your father stay here? Or would it be a grave mistake?" he asked his wife, looking to her. | |

| She knew that all eyes were on her. What she did not know, however, was what to answer with. Of course if she was to refuse to letting her father stay with him, she would be pleasing Julian who did not seem very taken with the man, but she would also be offending her father. Her mother was borderline, hoping that Mary woul let her father stay, but understanding of why she was skeptical about it. "I think..." she murmured, brushing some hair from her eyes. "I think that, despite your first impression on my father, we should let him at least stay the night." It was quite a trip from here to her old home. |

| Julian sighed, nodding. Why ignore his wife's wish? Especially since it was a long drive already from her home to here. "Be grateful that you have such a considerate daughter." he told Michael as a statement whilst he sat back down. Telling a servant to bring another plate for him, he motioned for the man to sit. | |

| Despite every memory that her father stirred in her from the past five years or so, she could not turn him away. It just couldn't be done. Mary shook her head, surprised at how much she was finding, she valued certain morals. Once her husband had asked for the servant to bring another plate, she finally took her seat. |

| The dinner went by silently, Julian however wasn't looking forward to Michael staying the night. Still, he couldn't just dispatch of the man as much as he wanted to. Mary would be displeased and angry probably. "Enjoying the meal?" he asked, clearing his throat. Michael only nodded, coughing and continuing to eat silently. | |

| Nobody felt like breaking the ice. Mary, because the real reason she was letting her father stay lied about the fact that he was her father and that she pitied him. Miriam also did not speak because of her soft spokeness, and her shock towards what was actually playing before them. |

| Soon at the end of dinner, the servants took up everyone's plates. Though, Julian was more tense than in the beginning. He didn't like the atmosphere now that Michael had come into the house itself. "If you'd like a bath, just say so to one of my servants and they'll help you with that. I however have matters to attend to, Mary." he said, kissing his wife on the cheek and leaving the dining room. He couldn't stand it any more. | |

| Mary watched as her husband retreated to the safety of his study. Smart man. If only she could get away with doing the same thing. Though, obviously she couldn't. Shaking her head and sighing, she looked over to her mother and father who just sat there quietly. This was very uncomfortable and awkward. |

| Michael stared at his daughter, sighing. "Well, he's not a bad man so far. At least he had the decency to listen to you." he mumbled, cracking his knuckles and yawning. "Do you plan on staying with him for the rest of your life? Really?" he asked. | |

| Divorce wasn't really something that a person planned. Even Mary and Julian had never really planned on divorcing. They would have still remained married, though they would have lived in seperate parts of the country. Divorcing had never crossed her mind. An anullment hardly had either. "Yes, Father," she answered, " I do." |

| Michael sighed, staring at Miriam. He never thought of divorcing her either, he loved her in his own odd way. He closed his eyes, taking a breath. "Alright then, at least visit your parents every once in a while. Don't think I'm enjoying this. You're too young to be married." he said, shaking his head. | |

| Mary laughed softly. Too young? In the time that they were currently living in, she was lucky that she hadn't been married off the moment she had turned fifteen. That she had been given the time to finish school and to fully grow up. |

| Well, in his eyes, Mary was still the little girl he used to sing to sleep. Michael wasn't always a horrible and greedy man. "Miriam, you actually agree to this marriage?" he asked, blinking and expecting her to agree with his opinion. | |

| A small sigh passed Miriam's mouth, and for the first time in a very long time she spoke what was on her mind. "Michael, my parents did not approve of our marriage. I do not believe it fair for Mary to have to go through the same pain of believing that she has let her family down." And with that, she bid her husband good night and left to go to her own room. |

| Michael stared at Miriam as she left. For once she spoke for herself? That was odd. He gulped, staring at Mary. So...their marriage was looked down upon his own wife's parents? He sighed, closing his eyes. "I apologize, my daughter.." he mumbled quietly. | |

| Mary really didn't know what it was that he wanted her to say back. It would be a flat out lie if she said that she wasn't upset with her father with intruding like this. Not to mention the fact that he had accused her husband of stealing his whole family away with him. A soft sigh passed her lips. Yet she understood how lonely it must have felt. "Good night, Dad." she said softly, pecking him on the cheek and then retreating to her room. |

| Julian had laid in bed, all ready to sleep. Still, he couldn't. Michael's words rung in his head, over and over. Was it his mistake, taking Mary from her home? She was suffering so..it was the right thing to do. He sighed, closing his eyes. "This is a mess.." | |

| Mary had just been about to open the connecting door from her room to Julian's when she heard the slight sound of his voice. This is a mess. Her hand froze on the doorknob, and then went limp and swung down to her side. She stood there for a few minutes, trying to think over logically what it was that he could have been talking about. With a soft sigh, she locked the door, and then went to her closet to change into her night wear. |

| Julian had noticed he heard a click of the doorknob from Mary's room which connected to his. Did she hear him? He sighed, getting up and opening that door. Seeing Mary changing, he chuckled and closed the door once inside her room. "Mary? Are you ok? Why are you changing in here?" he asked, hugging her in the middle of putting on her gown. | |

| She had just been the middle of sliding the gown on over her head when the door opened. Soon Julian's arms were around her, and he was asking her very softly why she was changing in here. Blushing, she moved slightly to get the rest of her night gown down before looking at him thoughtfully. "W-well, this is my room after all.." she said, blushing. |

| "I know....Still, since the day we came back home, I would've thought you'd come into mine from then on." he muttered, nuzzling Mary's neck. Still, privacy was privacy. It's not bad to change in one room and sleep in the other...."Eh, I guess it's alright to leave you alone. I'll be in my room." Julian smiled, kissing her softly and going into his room with a sigh. | |

| Mary waited until she heard the soft click of the door closing before she let out a sigh. It wasn't that she was upset at Julian, it was just that she could not understand what he had heard. From what she had just seen, it was obvious that he didn't regret marrying her. But he did seem burdened now by her family. And this worried her because in a way, she was burdening him. |
