My Past Will Not Haunt Me ~Private~

She nodded her head and offered a shy smile as she reached for her coat and slipped it on over her shoulders. It was nice and breezy outside and yet she still felt so incredibly small and flustered right then. "W-well, I'm ready to go..." she stuttered, looking down at her feet as she spoke. God, what geeks they were!

Sam nodded his head. He lead her off the porch.

While it went against the typical date between a guy and a girl Meghan was the one who drove them to the movie they had agreed to go see. It was bright and sunny outside with a nice light breeze as they reached the theater. Getting out Meghan breathed in and decided that the date would only be awkward and uneventful if they let it be that way. They both liked one another and there was no law saying they couldn't enjoy one another's company! Smiling at Sam she took his hand and walked into the theater with him.

It was a first date. Not too much was going to happen in the extreme way. Sam smiled when she took his hand. He held onto hers and gently stroked it with his thumb. There was nothing saying he couldn't be a little affectionate right? It wasn't like he was making out with her in the parking lot.

After buying the popcorn and soda (they had agreed that he would play for the tickets and she would buy the snacks) she walked with him to the room where the movie was playing. Admittedly it was just some lame comedy that she would probably forget years later, but right then what mattered to her was that she was with him. Finally.

" Where would you like to sit? In the middle, up front, or in the back" he asked looking for two seats open for them in all three sections.

"It doesn't really matter." Meghan said, though seconds after she said it she realized that it did. Sitting in the front was the absolute worst spot, whereas the back would probably be the best- that is, providing that they wanted to make out for the entirety of the movie. Shaking her head she shakily mumbled, "T-the middle." and then sat down with him.

" Ok" he smiled. He didn't know the info behind which second they sat in. He found two seats close to the begining of the back but the end of the middle that was all that was left in the middle section. His eyes locked on a couple who wasted no time in making out in the way back. His face flushed a deep red. Why was his embarassed for them? He sat down and then he put the seat down for her so she could sit. He had the napkins and he put them on his lap for easy access for them. Sam cleared his throat before he spoke " is this a good spot? Can you see the screen?" he asked.

Meghan nodded her head, her cheeks flushed. "Yes, it's perfect." Ugh! She had seen the couple two and now she was as equally flustered as he was! And just when they had started to be comfortable around each other! Taking a handful of popcorn she ate quietly, watching as the opening credits started. There had to be something she could do to get rid of the awkwardness between them.

It was the first date things were new and it was all about exploring things.

How could they possibly explore anything when they were so tongue tied around one another? The opening credits for the film began to start and she tried to focus on the opening gag as opposed to the erratic beating of her heart and her sweaty palms. Sighing softly to herself she glanced over at him from the corner of her eye.

Sam wasn't interested in the movie either. His mind was on her. He looked at her and saw she was looking at him. His heart was beating faster as his gut started to feel weird. His gut started doing all sorts of flips and throbs. Like butterflies were practicing gymnastics. Ba-dum Ba-dum, his heart seemed to echo throughout the theatre. He leaned closer to her his eyes searching hers. Would they finally kiss? Would it lead to a huge make out and sparks flying? He didn't know but he couldn't ignore what he felt around her.

Oh, God! He was looking at her! What was she supposed to do?! They had already opted to sit in the middle of the theater (which in unspoken rules meant no making out...) but he was looking at her! Her cheeks flushed and she took a drink from the water bottle to try and calm her nerves.

They were close to the back as well. It being the last row of the middle section and the first row of the back. His throat felt dry. He bit his lip as he leaned in closer.

She could feel his warm breath against her cheek, that's how close he was. Meghan knew that she couldn't play dumb for much longer, that she couldn't pretend that she cared about what was going on in the movie. Sam was certainly making it clear that he didn't care. Breathing in she hesitantly turned to look at him, her cheeks flustered.

Sam wanted to try kissing. It was a pretty bold move for him. His hand gently caressed her cheek gently as he placed his lips gently upon hers. He didn't know how to kiss or if he was good at it but he wanted to try at least make the night a little romantic instead of awkward.

They had kissed once before, even if they had been young and it had been quick. As he kissed her now in the theater she felt flustered, yet also very happy. Pulling back, she smiled softly at him and gently held his hand.

He smiled gently and laced his fingers with hers. He was happy he did it.

Meghan rested her head on his shoulder and breathed in contently. The rest of the movie went on uninterrupted, though there was the brief occasion when kissing seemed just a little more interesting than the movie, though they were never as obnoxious as the couple sitting a few rows away from them.

He didn't like to make out hardcore but they had little ones. Once the movie was over he had her wait before getting up and trailing out with everyone else. He hated getting ran over just because someone in the front of him wasn't walking fast enougb and the person behind him had fire ass. Once the people left he got up and walked out with her. The bright lights hurt his eyes for a slight second but he adjusted pretty quickly.

Truth be told if Meghan's parents were to ask her how the movie was she probably wouldn't be able to say anything more than "It was ok." She didn't remember much of it, having spent most of the time either kissing Sam or just reveling in the fact that she was cuddling with him, that they were on a date! As they walked out of the theater she smiled and then suggested that they got to get some dinner at a local diner.

" Dinner sounds good to me." Sam said. " I'll pick up on the tab." he told her as they made their way to the car. The air had a bit of warmth to it he didn't expect. Spring was coming fast. Good. No more depressing snow. Once they got to the car, Sam kissed her lips gently,

Meghan kissed him back softly and then pulled away with a small smile on her face. "We'll see who it is that will be paying after dinner." she teased, driving off with him. Once they reached the diner she got out with him and walked in. It was mostly empty except for a family that was eating in the corner. Taking a booth, she sat across from him.

Sam sat down from across her and picked up the menu that was infront of him. " What do you like here" he asked

"Hmm," she said in response, her eyes scanning the menu. "I guess whatever looks good and doesn't cost too much." she added, though it was mostly to herself. She still wasn't planning on letting him pay the bill but for the time being she would let him think so if it made him happy. She had a job and had the spare change to spend.
