After those two weeks passed, things were relaxed. No more howls were heard in the forest and Jarred had yet to appear all hot and bothered. Within a day's time, even the townspeople calmed down. Grant had not come back for a while since he had things to do with his own family as he had written to Joseph, but Jarred had come along to visit during the night.

Elizabeth smiled as she saw Jarred approach from her seat in the parlor. She got up and answered the door. "Good evening. Cook is making chicken for dinner," she said, opening the door to let him in.

Jarred smiled, shaking his head. "I'm not just here for eating, geez." he chuckled, walking inside and smiling a little bit more. He was glad to be back to normal, and of course, pup-free. He hadn't given in totally, but he couldn't say that he could stray from females totally. Of course, what they didn't know wouldn't hurt them. "How have you been?"

She chuckled. "I've been good. The townspeople are all calmed down. I think some of the ladies are thinking that we are courting," she chuckled, amused by their assumptions.

Jarred raised a brow and scoffed. "Nah, that wouldn't be possible." he muttered, looking away with red cheeks.

She chuckled. 'That's what I told them," she said, shaking her head. "They're so stubborn. It's quite funny," she laughed.

Jarred then felt a bit playful, to test her. "If I was courting you, by now you'd be mine.." he said, looking over at her with his eyes, his head still turned away as he looked serious.

"Oh, I know," she said, chuckling. "I have no doubt," she looked up at him with a teasing smirk.

Jarred chuckled, rolling his eyes. "What's that supposed to mean? Am I a charming wolf?" he chuckled, teasing.

"Oh, yes," she chuckled. "I can hardly resist you, sir," she teased.

Jarred grinned, shaking his head. "Anyways, besides that, any recent hunts?" he asked as he looked around. It had been a whole month, so, he was out of place at the moment.

"There was one wolf that was too crazed and came into town. That was my first kill," she told him. "The only incident that happened."

"Crazed wolf? Well, I'm glad there isn't anything else out there like us..coming to this small town." Jarred said, shaking his head as he reminded himself that Lycans were even far worse than just the typical wolves like them. "How did that go?"

"I got a few cuts and scratches, but I'm fine. No one else noticed anything. It was successful," she nodded. Actually, one of the cuts she'd gotten was more like a gash on her leg, which was still in the process of healing. It was half as large as it had been, but it still stung from time to time.

Jarred nodded, sighing. "Well, at least Grant taught you well..." he muttered, sitting down in the living room as he stared at the fire burning. He had something to tell them all, just like..that his father wanted him back. He needed him back. He was sick.

"Something wrong," she asked him, offering him a cup of tea.

Jarred took the tea and chugged it down, sighing. "My father, he's sick...I have to take over his pack." he said plainly, obviously not looking forward to it. "My brother is nowhere to be found so, he's presumably missing in action or dead.I would like to think neither. But it goes down to me. I have to go over there and fight him..to gain control."

She frowned. She'd offer to help, but this had to do with wolf laws. She could take no part in any of it. "I'm sorry," she told him, for his father being ill and him having to fight him for control.

Jarred shook his head, sighing. "It's not your fault. It's my own for being the son of a leader of a wolf pack. Hell, for being born at all.." he said, looking over at her. "This is my last night here.."

She looked a little sad, truly she was. "I wish you luck against your father and with your pack," she told him.

Jarred nodded and stared. "Thanks.." he said, looking away and clearing his throat. "So where are your folks?" he asked, wondering why they had yet to be around.

"I think the women whisked mother away for a short while for pre-dinner tea, and Father is off talking business with the mayor about something," she told him.

Jarred twitched. So they were totally alone. "Interesting, so we're all alone?" he said, clearing his throat and blushing a bit. Thank god he wasn't in heat anymore.

"Cook is occupied in the kitchen and finishing laundry," she nodded. Laundry was done right outside the kitchen doors that lead to outside.

"Ah...well, anyways. I'm sure you'll be glad for me to be out of your hair for a while. I caused too much of a stir in your social circle." Jarred said, laughing nervously.
