Trace and Me Only!

"The whole bag? We'd be making nothing but chocolate. Are you sure that's not too much," Kade asked, winking at Beth as he walked out with the boy.

"Just a handful or two! Nothing more than that!!!" Beth called after them as she got up.

"A handful or two sounds about right," Kade chuckled.

Bethany nodded and got up, "Ummm, did you save anything for my besides this dress?" she asked curiously.

"I believe that's the only thing I kept that was yours," he told her and snuck a kiss when Chris wasn't looking. "This is my favorite," he whispered, fixing the collar of it, his fingers lingering on her neck. "We'll go get your other clothes once the sun goes down."

"Could you try and grab some of his t hings as well?" she asked him, "Then this picture by my bed that had a picture of Chris, his mom and I. If thats not too much to ask for?"

"Of course, love," he kissed her forehead. "Now let's feed you," he smiled.

She nodded and held his hand as they walked out.

Kade was still limping a little as they arrived in the kitchen and he pulled out the things to make pancakes. Jess was already there, making herself a bowl of cereal. She smiled at them as they walked in, still looking exhausted. "Morning," she yawned. "Kade, why on earth are you limping," she asked, frowning.

"Tegan went too far with training again," he lied easily, not wanting her to become upset with her mate. "No big deal."

Bethany half smiled as they walked in and went over to sit by her, "Feeling better I hope?"

"Yes, much. Dante wasn't too happy about me being so tired. He seemed angry..."

"I'm sure he's just worried about you," Kade told her. "Didn't want you to get hurt."

"Well, I thank you for giving me Chris back..." she said softly so he couldn't hear her.

Jess smiled and squeezed Beth's hand. "I'm so glad I could do that for you," she whispered back. "I only wish I had the strength right now to wake up his mother," she looked so disappointed in herself.

"You shouldn't..." she said after a moment. "If it took that much to wake up a small boy...how much do you think it would take to wake her up?" she started with tears in her eyes. "She...she died to try and save him, so that he could live. I'm sure she'd do it all over again."

Kade watched his mate and tried to keep Chris' attention from his aunt so he wouldn't see her crying. Jess was enough to comfort her now, he'd do the rest later.

Jess hugged Beth as tight as she could, which wasn't very. "I'm so sorry," she whispered.

Beth just nodded and hugged her back tightly, a few tears running down her cheeks.

Kade had succeeded in keeping Chris' attention away from Beth until her tears had dried and it looked like she hadn't been crying. He set his plate of pancakes down on the table with a glass of milk and kissed his mate's forehead. "What would you like for breakfast," he asked her.

Some of those pancakes." she chuckled taking a bite from Chris's plate.

"Aunty Bethy nooooo!!!" he whined.

Kade chuckled and set some of the leftover ones down on the table for Beth to eat.

"Thank you." she smiled and and started to dig in.

He smiled and watched her eat after getting her a glass of milk. He didn't look up as Dante walked in and practically snarled at seeing Kade walking around with his mate and her nephew. He sat next to Jess, his arm around her protectively. "You shouldn't be up and walking around. You're still weak."

"I'm fine, love," she insisted. "Staying in bed all day won't make me stronger, walking around will. Plus, I was hungry and wanted to eat with my friend."

"Alright," he gave up and watched her eat, glaring up at Kade every now and again.

Bethany sensed the tension in the air, bu tried not to pay attention and just ate.

Kade chose to ignore him, knowing he wouldn't make a scene in front of his weakened mate and a child.

Rio walked in with Lilli, then. "Morning," Lilli chirped and stole the remainder of the pancakes before sitting down next to Chris.

"Good morning," Jess smiled at her.

"Morning." Bethany smiled at Jess.

"Thanks for telling me a story last night Jess." Chris said with his mouth full of pancake.

"Not a problem, sweetie," she smiled happily at the boy.
