Trace and Me Only!

"If he'd watch him, that'd be great.", she said and looked down as Chris pulled on her hand.

"But I want to go with you!" he whined.

"I know, but you have to stay here and man down the fortress, keep me clued in, be my little spy alright?" she said lifting him up in her arms, "You could make some new friends...."

"You'll like Gideon," Kade promised him and led them to the command/war room. "Yo, Gid. Can you keep an eye on Chris for a couple hours," he asked the blond vampire with nerd-glasses.

"Sure," Gideon smiled brightly. "But only if he helps me beat the computer at checkers," he winked.

"I don't know how to play...." he said quietly.

Bethany kissed his forehead,"He'll teach you, you'll do fine, I promise."

"Checkers is very easy to learn," Gideon assured him. He pulled up a roll-y chair. "Come have a sit. I'll teach you," he smiled.

Chris climbed in and waved goodbye to Bethany and Kade.

Gideon smiled and waved at both of them and proceeded to slowly show Chris so he'd learn.

Kade held his mate's hand and walked to the garage. "Where are we going again?"

"To my apparmnent, so I can get clothes for Chris and I and...other stuff like that." she reminded him. "Did he hit you a little to hard?"

"I'm fine," Kade assured her. "But with teaching Chris how to play checkers, all his attention won't be on our surroundings. I'll have to concentrate hard to make sure no rogues are near," he said, starting the car and driving to her appartment. He sniffed the air and finding no traces of rogues, helped her out of the car.

She nodded and went up to her apartment opening the door.

He stayed close to her, his senses trained on their surroundings. He went in first, sniffing and examining the apartment before he let her go in further.

She went in looking around, not sure what to grab. She emptied out a couple baskets that had dirty laundry on the floor and started to grab some old photoalbums, her enormous box of clothes, then she grabbed some of Chris's things, some clothes, a few toys and the picture he had framed of the the three of them together, she looked at it and smiled sadly.

Kade came up behind her and wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her cheek softly.

She smiled softly and sighed, putting it in a clothes basket before going through some of his other things.

Kade watched her and tensed, growling as he felt a presence. He stood protectively in front of his mate, backing her against the wall just in case.

She rested her hand on his shoulder worriedly, looking around "What's wrong?"

A rogue came in from the bathroom, snarling and drooling from it's perminently elongated fangs. The girl smelled delightful to him, and he was hungry.

Kade growled menicingly, pulling out his silenced gun.

Bethany was freaking out but tried to remain calm, holding onto her stuff tightly.

Kade shot the beast and killed it, growling as he watched the body decentegrate. Kade looked back at her. "Are you alright," he asked, kissing her forehead and stroking her cheek to try to calm her down a little.

Beth nodded, wide eyed and still visibly frightened. She quickly shoved more things into the hampers and looked at him when she was ready.

He knew he wouldn't be able to calm her down until they got back to the compound so he just kissed her forehead again, kept his arm around her waist and led her back to the van.

She stepped in clutching her things close towards her.

He strapped her in, being gentle with her. He kissed her forehead and quickly got in the driver's seat, driving home in the blink of an eye.

She held onto all their things tightly looking out the window absentmindedly.

He pulled her out of the car and held her close once the garage door was closed. "Are you alright," he murmured softly, holding her protectively and trying to sooth her.

"Yeah, as alright as I can be I suppose.....just....jumpy now." she said trembling slightly.
