A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.3

She shrugged. "I am not sure. Maybe you just tell her everything you two used to do and she'll remember."

He looked at her, then up at his mom. "Okay..." He crawled over to his mom and sat down next to her. "You and Daddy used to play with me a lot when I was really little... We'd play hide and seek and you'd let me win," he mumbled.

Sam tried to remember but shook her head. "I don't remember..."

"You let me hold Kale when she was a baby. I was really happy that I had a little sister to play with. You and Daddy liked to show us off to everybody. We were all very very happy," he continued, trying to tell her everything so she might remember.

Sami shook her head, trying really hard to remember. "I don't remember!" she said. "Leave me alone! I can't!" she said, freaking out.

Dane went over to Conall, taking his hand. "Come with me. Give her time." she said softly. She wanted to show him something she would do every time her father would get upset and beat her or her mother.

Brados heard Sam freaking out and ran over to them. What's going on, he asked gently.

Conall looked down, tears rolling down his cheeks again. "I was telling her about us..."

Brados nuzzled Conall gently. You didn't do anything wrong. Go play with your sisters, Zach, and Dane. Your mom needs some alone time, okay, he suggested softly.

Conall nodded and followed Dane.

Brados turned back to Sam. It's alright. No one's going to bother you now. Not for a while. Just relax. Your memories will come to you, he pressed his nose to her forehead gently and went back to undigging their dens.

Dane took his hand, gently taking him away. "My mom and I used to climb trees whenever I felt bad. It took my name off of my troubles and I found it fun. We used to race to the top. Would you like to try?" she asked.

Sam had tears rolling freely down her face and she almost clung to brados as he pressed his nose to her forehead but didn't. She didn't want to hurt them anymore.

Conall looked up at the big trees. "I've never climbed a tree before," he admitted, rubbing his runny nose with his sleeve.

"Really?" she asked, a little shocked. "Do you want to try?"

He nodded. "You're sure it isn't scary..." he asked, looking at how tall the tree was.

"It might be if you're not used to it." she shrugged.

"Let's try it..." he mumbled, taking a step towards the tree. "You first..."

She smiled. "Just put your feet and hands were I put them. And don't worry. This is suppose to be fun." she said, finding easy foot holds and started to climb.

Nervously, he followed her lead, holding on tight.

She stopped half way up the tree, sitting on a thick branch. "We can stop if you want." she said. "You don't seem to be enjoying it as I did."

"I-I'm scared," he said, clinging to the tree as hard as he could.

She climbed down to where he was, frowning. "I'm sorry. Let's climb down now."

"How," he asked, afraid to move.

"You're going to have to look down..." she said. "Or should I go get your dad?"

He shook his head. "Get my Daddy, please," he asked, clinging to the tree.

she nodded, climbing down. "I'm sorry Conall..." she said softly. Once on the ground, she went looking for Brados, finially seeing him but a little scared to go anywhere near the rubble until she knew it was safe.

"It's okay," he said, his eyes still closed tight.

Brados noticed Dane come up towards them and stop before she got to the rubble. He went over to her. Something wrong, he asked, seeing she was a little troubled.

"It's all my fault." she said. "Climbing trees helps me feel better after something bad and I thought it would make him feel better also. He's stuck... He's afraid to come down."

He nodded. It's alright. Lead the way, he told her. No need to get angry at her. She was only trying to help, after all.

Nodding, she ran to the spot where Conall was. "He's up there." she pointed.
