Me and Steph!

"I didn't do it on purpose. God, I mean, my friend just said he was going to see a movie that day and I didn't exactly plan for him to be there when we were.." Jack said, hopefully pulling off the lie.

"Don't lie to me." she said, shaking her head. "You set this up. Do you honestly not want to try? Is the only interest you hold for me friendship?"

"I'm afraid of losing you because of a relationship. I value our friendship, Lilli." Jack said, looking away and losing his smile.

"It can only get better." She said, looking at him. "If you really don't want to then I'll stay with Kyle. But if you ever want me, you'll know I'll yes."

Jack sighed, looking up at her. "I...I'll try." he said, staring into her eyes.

"You're kindof late... I'm with Kyle now." she said.

Jack chuckled weakly, smiling again. He knew she'd say that. "Then I guess I'll wait. I have a date too, with uh, this one girl, Sunday.." he mumbled, looking down. "But uh, do you like Kyle?"

She smiled, nodding. "I really do. He's nice."

Jack nodded again, smiling. "Good, I hope he's better next time." he grinned, trying to make a joke out of it even if he was aching bad.

she looked confused. "What do you mean?"

"Um, for the next date..?" Jack said, smiling. At least he would have one too, to keep his mind off of Lilli.

She nodded. "I hope so." she said, smiling.

"Yeah so....Uh, wanna come over? We can watch uh, that movie. Drag me to hell?" he asked, grinning. It was a scary movie, but really it was only a thriller and psychological, maybe. Not that extravagant.

"I'll bring the pop corn." she smiled, getting up. She put her hands on the top of her window, about to close it. "Be there soon." she winked, closing it then disappearing. She didn't know if this was right or not. If she should be going to his house but as she walked down the stairs, she knew she'd need to do some drastic things to get Jack. She grabbed some popcorn then went to his house, just walking in.

Jack almost flinched when the window was closed. That was his conscience. What if something happened while watching the movie? Then again, it's horror. What could happen? He sighed, rushing downstairs to get OnDemand and buy the movie, luckily it was one of those two-day rentals. He then bought it, waiting on her with two chilled glasses of coca cola, as always.

"Hey." Lilli said, making him turn. When he did, she tossed the popcorn at him. "think fast."

As soon as the popcorn was thrown at his face, Jack grinned. "Oh you're so dead!" he claimed, jumping over the couch and chasing her through the house. He had picked up a few balls that his dog had chewed and brought into the house, they were still wet, too. "Eat this!" he laughed, throwing two of the balls at her.

She screamed playfully, going up the stairs and ending up in Jack's room before being hit with a ball. She laughed, falling onto his bed. "I give!"

Jack landed beside her, panting. "Aw man, you just wasted popcorn, a handful too...." he said, closing his eyes and calming down his fast heart. He then sat up, looking down at her with a grin. "You always give up too easily." he teased.

She shrugged. "Yeah well... I got tired."

"You're not that competitive, no fun." Jack teased as he got up and stretched, going to the bathroom in the hall to wash his hands. The balls were after all, chewed up by his dog. Afterwards, he went back to his room, smiling. "Come on, let's go down and see the movie."

She was looking at a photostrip of them that they had taken at a mall photobooth. "This was a great day, huh? My 16th birthday. Even last year the two of us were happy, not... not like we now."

Jack sighed, sitting beside Lilli. "Lill...Come on, it's not that bad. We just have to get over this bump, you know? Now we'll both be going out with great people, so, it's settled. Just give it time.." he said, smiling weakly. He didn't even know if he even meant what he said. Honestly, he was just scared to lose her.

"but I want you." she said softly, then sighed, putting the picture away and standing. "Let's watch that movie." she said, a smile on her lips.

Jack felt like he was going to break and tell her to stop, but he stayed silent. Once she mentioned the movie, he smiled and nodded. He tried to ignore the guilt sneaking into his heart. He followed downstairs, playing the movie and sitting on the couch with the bowl of popcorn(whatever was left) inbetween them.
