Teressa used her 'ability', which was that she was able to control a person's emotional state by focusing on her own. She set herself (and Irene) into a calm, relaxed state. "Have you ever noticed that you don't fit in as well as everyone else?" No Breedmate did fit in as other humans did. It was impossible, for one reason or another.

"Yeah, though I've gotten over it in the past years. Why? What does that have to do with it?" she questioned, calmer than she felt she should be. This was strange, but she could manage to feel much anything but calmness. How odd.

"We have, too. No Breedmate ever fits in, for some reason," she said calmly. "We met our husbands, and thus met each other. We're all sisters now."

"Breedmates?" she questioned calmly. "What do you mean by breedmates?" She had never heard of breedmates before, except with animals maybe. Surely she wasn't implying they were like animals?

"We are the only ones who can bare their children. They are the Breed and we are the Breedmates," she said calmly.

"Huh" she said, not sure what to say to that. She figured that that meant there wwasn't many of them then. "Is there anything else I should know about being a breedmate?"

Teressa shook her head. "No. But know this: Vince will protect you. He will not hurt you. There won't be a need to be afraid of him. Do you understand," she asked calmly.

"I understand" she responded with a nod. Not that she understood why she should be worried about him hurting her. So she did have another question she felt must be asked beore she did anything. "But... what is he? Surely they must be different in some aspect if they can only 'breed' with breedmates." she questioned curiously.

Teressa nodded. "He and our husbands are Breed warriors. Their job is to exterminate the Rogues, which are Breed gone bad. Humans have another term for the Breed. Their word is vampire," she said calmly, focusing on staying calm even more as she said the word.

"Vampires" she said slowly. Now she knew she should be freaked out, but couldn't manage to lose her cool. Maybe it was the shock? "Huh. Blood sucking and all?" she questioned. "Sunlight burns them and sleeping in coffins?"

"They don't sleep in coffins. They sleep in beds down here, as we do. But they will burn in the sun, and they do drink blood. You've no reason to worry, though. They won't drink a Breedmate's blood without her permission. If they do, they will know what we are feeling. The same for us if we drink their blood. But we are very special to them. If a Breedmate is murdered, you can trust that she will be avenged in the most painful of ways."

Heather smiled, watching him go into his room. "I'll remember that Drake... G'night." She bit her lip, waiting for him to close his door before she went into the other room. It was pretty big, and the bed looked beyond comfortable. She'd hate to ruin the sheets, but there wasn't much she could do about that. She slipped under the covers and rested her head on the pillows, falling asleep almost instantly.

Drake stared into the ceiling, sighing. He would have to meet up with the rest of the crew, then deal with their bs right then and there. He had no choice now that he then found another breedmate. Plus, he had to freaking deal with what almost happened! He shook his head, biting his lip. "Being a vamp is a bitch." he mumbled, before watching TV. Tomorrow night, he'd meet up with the guys soon.

Heather slept well into the next day, waking up a little past noon. She yawned and stretched, feeling her back start to hurt horridly again. She grimaced and reached back, feeling the bandages on her back near-seeped through with blood. She sighed, scratching her head in thought. "Obviously I bled through the night, so I probably need to go get something to eat... However, the clothes I wore last night are shredded. How fantastic... So, what to do..."

Of course, by then Drake was asleep. It was the morning and the sunlight didn't break through, it was as dark as a cave would be in his room. Still, he could hear and he knew that Heather was most likely awake now and complaining about her injury. Hopefully she can take care of herself in his absence.

Heather was more than aware that Drake would be asleep, so she slipped out of the room she had been staying in and walked into the small kitchen. She opened the fridge door and smiled gingerly. "Fruit and vegetables. Absolutely amazing." Inside were, to her pretty well trained eye, a concistency of tropical fruits and home-grown vegetables. The foods as a whole had no pesticides, which she admired. She pulled out a stalk of broccolli and set it on the counter, along with some red grapes.

Irene put that to thought. It didn't sound too terribly bad to be a breedmate, she figured. "Okay then" she said with a smile. "I'm sure it'll take me a while to get used to, though. Other than that, I figure I should be fine" she said a little hesitantly. At least she wasn't thinking about leaving him any longer. She'd try to make it work now she figured.

Teressa smile and slowly and gradually let Irene out of her 'control'. "Vince should be back shortly. He's checking in with the boys. Would you like some tea or coffee?"

"Coffee please" she said with a smile and nod. Coffee did sound terribly good. Irene felt a little anxious for Vince to get back, but otherwise felt fine. At least his sisters in law seemed nice enough.

"Cream? Sugar," she asked, pouring her a mug.

"Yes please" she said, and added some herself before taking a sip of the coffee. It was hot, but tastey, and had just the right amount of everything in it. "So, Teressa is it? How long have you lived here?"

Teressa smiled happily. "About two hundred years," she chuckled.

"Two hundred years??" she questioned, startled. "But I thought the guys were only only vampires. How could be around here that long?" She surely remembered aging, so how could Teressa still be around?

Teressa chuckled. "Breedmates also drink their mate's blood. It keeps us healthy and basically stops our aging."

"Oh..." she said slowly. So she might be drinking someone's blod? SEan's in particular? And she couldn't just forget the fact that he was a vampire. This was definitely strange. She couldn't try to think rationally with so many unrational things going on. This is the stuff her patients talked about, not stuff she actually dealt with! Even so, she told herself, she'd try. And there was always the chance she would just wake up any moment and all this would've been a dream. Can't forget that option.

"It's only your choice. Whether you want to become his mate or not. But once you do it, it can't be undone. You'll always sense him. And if he drinks your blood, he'll always sense you and know what you're feeling."
