| "He isn't your's." she said quietly, though it was hardly a protect against what he was saying. It was almost as if she were trying to convince herself. After a few minutes she sighed. "Today is his birthday." she whispered. "He's eight years old today." With a gentle sigh she brushed some of her hair from her eyes. "It was nice seeing you again," Though it wasn't. "Goodbye." |

| " Molly you know he is mine. I see it. There is no one besides my side of the family that has that nose and hair." he said , " Good day. " he walked off. | |

| "He may be yours but you obviously don't want him. And you know what? I'm glad you're leaving then, because he is a good boy and deserves better than that." Sighing gently to herself she then went back to her son and sat beside him on the swing set. "I guess he had to go somewhere." she said softly to Jason. "Do you want to open your present now?" she asked softly. |

| Molly shook her head and looked back to Jason. "Are you alright, Hunny?" He had been so quiet during her exchange with Dom and she wasn't even sure if he had heard what Dom had said. Looking over at her son, she sighed and hoped that for the both of their sake that he hadn't heard anything. Neither of them needed that drama. Obviously Dom didn't and wasn't going to be coming back into their life any time soon. |

| Molly sighed. Sometimes it was really hard to be a single parents. Dawson had tried hard and most of why they had stayed together for so long was because of Jason, but in the end only she really understood Jason and there will still times like this when she couldn't. Shaking her head she sighed and then got up from the swing. "Let's go home. We can unwrap your presents and have cake and then perhaps catch a movie." |

| "Jason..." she watched him walk off to the car and then she sighed before getting up from the swing swet. Things shouldn't have been like this. It was his birthday and she had been willing to do whatever that little bot wanted to make him happy. Walking over to the car she unlocked the door for him and helped him in. She tried to lighten the mood by pointing out he no longer needed to use a car seat. |

| Jason didn't really care. He just looked out the window quietly. | |

| Why in the world was he acting so apathetic? He was still only a child! Why was he acting so like a teenager? It was his birthday! He should have been thrilled to open presents and go to the movies. Just anything other than moping around. Molly's hands tigthened on the steering wheel and she felt in her stomach that Dom had ruined the day for the two of them. |

| "I don't know where your father is, Jason." Molly said tiredly, her hands once again tightening on the steering wheel. She had worked so hard to get him the presents that he had wanted and to even get a day off to celebrate with him and it felt like it was all for naught. Sighing gently, she looked back over Jason. "We've been happy together, haven't we?" |

| Molly sighed softly. She understood her son's curiosity but was afraid to do anything to encourage it. Right then things were still in a gray area, red zone. Obviously Dom didn't care about her anymore and hardly seemed to care that he had a son. How could she let Jason meet someone who didn't even care about his existence? He deserved a better dad than that. |

| Why were all of the men in her life so apathetic? God forbid they actually acted like, you know, men. Pulling into the drive way of their house she turned off the car and sighed. "You never opened this at the park." she said, gesturing to the wrapped package on the back seat. She had gotten him a new skateboard that she was sure he would like. |

| Molly offered her son a small smile and then kept her eyes on the road for the rest of the car ride. Her mind was shifting towards Dom a lot and she could not say that she was enjoying it. Eight years ago she had forfeighted a happy life with him to protect him from being thrown into jail. She had broken him and now he hated her and didn't even want anything to do with Jason. |

Dear Molly.
I know you probably do not want to see hide nor hair from me. But there is alot I want to talk about. I want to know what happened. Enclosed is a check of 600 dollars. Half to you and half to Jason. Concider it as part of some child support.
Best wishes, Dom | |

| When Molly returned home with Jason she took the envelope and placed it in her pocket for later reading. Stepping into the house she told Jason to go wash up before coming back down to unwrap presents. Once he was gone she took out the envelope and sighed softly. "Alright." she whispered to herself, nodding her head. He had a right to ask her any questions that he needed. Jason was his son after all. Looking over the check she made a mental note to desposit $450 into Jason's college fund. |

| Molly looked over at the return address on the back of the envelope. She had an apprehension that she feared would not go away until she saw Dom once more so that she could explain herself. She pondered over whether or not to leave Jason with a baby sitter that night and go and see Dom. Things were starting to go into a legal gray area. |

| Dom wasn't a mean man. It wasn't like he was going after costody or having the courts set up visitation. He was just asking her to talk. That was it. | |
