She blinked and looked down, hiding her blush from him when he fixed her hair. "Thank you," she said in a calm voice, like she hadn't been fazed by it. "Have OCD," she asked, looking back up at him with a chuckle, knowing her blush was gone. At least it felt like it was gone.

Russel laughed. "That noticable?" he teased. While doctors disagreed that he didn't have OCD, Russel knew that he showed some signs of having it. Sure, he didn't color coordinate everything, but he was a stickler for small details. Such as mussed hair, or when certains things were out of place. "And I was working so hard to hide it."

She laughed. "It's alright. I have it bad when it comes to me drawing. Everything has to have the exact same amount of space around it."

"What do you do?" he asked softly, chuckeling. "Tote a little ruler around with you when you're drawing?" They were stalling, he realized. The both of them. They had left the restaurant building nearly ten minutes ago. For some reason it gave him some satisfaction to know that he was monopolizing her time.

She laughed. "Yeah, kinda," she admitted. "For that reason, half of my art projects are a day or two late. But they look better than everyone else's, if I do say so myself," she grinned.

" A little cocky, are we?" he asked, and then chuckled. "But then, I guess I can't really talk until I see these pictures for myself." Very slowly he was easing his way into an excuse to spend more time with her. She seemed to enjoy spending time with him, so surely she wouldn't mind it.

She chuckled. "Sure, why not. Just one condition: no paparazzi. At all. I hate crowds," she shook her head.

(Aww, why thank you Very Happy Actually, Gabe showed me this picture a long time ago. It always makes me smile.)
"Sure. We didn't get caught inside the restaurant, did we?" he reminded her. On the inside he was celebrating his triumph in scoring some more time with her. "Do you want me to drive after you? Or do you want to take my car?" His car was a rental, so in no way could it be traced back to him. Well, unless, of course, someone asked the rental place about who was the last to borrow the car. But then, Russel was sure that there was some customer confidentiallity that was supposed to be followed.

She smiled. "We can take both cars. It'll save some trouble later."

And now he was back to flopping. "True." Russel said thoughtfully, surpressing a sigh and then smiling at her. It would be stupid of them to go and use the same car, he realized now. How would one the one who hadn't brought their car get back here? "I'll see you soon, then?" he said.

"Ah, sure." he said, smiling. "That's nice of you." After saying goodbye, he walked to his car, cursing himself when he got there for not kissing her cheek or at least hugging her. But then, she still thought of his as less than an aqquaintance. Would that have been acceptable behavior?

Russel's mind was swimming as he followed behind her. After today, would there really be a reason for him to want to spend time with her? Not only was he a famous rockstar, but he also happened to live on the opposite side of the country from her. Simply put, it would be difficult to explain why he would be willing to spend hundreds of dollars to come and visit her. She wasn't even a devoted fan.

Alex pulled into her driveway and cut the engine, getting out and smiling as he pulled up, walking to her front door. She couldn't believe she was bringing a rock star into her house. She couldn't believe she was actually starting to... dare she think it... like him. She kept her thoughts to herself, keeping her face in control as she normally did. She partly hoped he'd be able to see through her charade, then cursed herself and pushed the thought out of her mind. It could never happen. No way in a million years.

He was contemplating moving to the quiet town as he parked in the drive way. No doubt that there would be big media coverage if he just uprooted himself from glamorous California. Perhaps if he purchased a vacation home? Sighing to himself, he got out of the car, and walked behind her. Her house was the usual suburbian house. Not too fancy, not hick like. It was quaint, and yet he found that he liked it quite a lot. Sighing softly, he offered her a small smile, and then walked into her house.

She returned the smile, closing the door behind her as she entered. "Make yourself at home. Can I get you anything," she asked, slipping her shoes off and leaving them by the door, hanging her purse on the coat rack. No one else was home, so all was quiet.

"Nah, I'm good." he answered, shedding his jacket and clumsily slinging it over one of the bars of the coat rack. Not even the best if whiskey could have calmed him right then. Perhaps it was knowing that he was alone with the one girl who had ever held any control over him. Russel didn't like to think that he was a bundle of nerves at the moment, even though he so obviously was.

Alex noticed he looked nervous, but didn't mention anything as she walked into the family room. "Should I give you the tour or just show you my art," she asked, leaving it up to him. A drawing that her mom had drawn on a large canvas was on the wall above the couch in the family room. It was a sketch of her when she was little, a happy smile on her face. Her mom had a lot of sketches like that around the house, ones she'd made through the years. Alex couldn't doubt her mother's talent, but she found it embarrassing whenever someone outside (or inside) the family looked at them. She wasn't comfortable at all with being the center of attention.

Russel nodded her head, about to answer. He paused, however, when he noticed the sketch on the wall. His lips lifted up into a crooked smile, and he brushed some of his dirty blonde hair out of his eyes to get a better look. "What a nice picture," he said thoughtfully, and then looked over to her. "Are you an artist because whomever drew this is an artist?" It seemed like an interesting thought. He hadn't met a lot of people in their life who had wanted to do what their parent's did. His dream to be a singer was far from what his father had wanted from him.

Alex followed his gaze to her mother's favorite sketch and felt her cheeks turn pink from embarrassment, looking into the kitchen to avoid his gaze. "Drawing is something my mom and I have in common. Some families scrapbook, some read. We draw. It's a bonding thing," she shrugged.

"You're lucky." Russel said thoughtfully. He didn't have a bonding thing with his father. According to his father he was the heir of the family pest control business. This was not something that he particularly revelled in. "When I told my dad I wanted to be a singer he called me a faggot and beat the crap out of me." he shrugged his shoulders at the memory, as if it had been a normal meeting between any father and son. Not just him and his father.

(I understand completely.)
He shrugged his shoulders. "It's not your fault. He just isn't a very tolerant man. That's why I got emancipated when I turned eighteen." No matter what happened to him in the future, he refused to let his father inherit all of the money and fame that he had worked so hard to recieve. The only person with access to his money would be his aunt who had been like a mother to him after his real mother had died while giving birth to his younger brother.
