A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.1

Al stopped on the top of a hill and down below the pack could be seen. "That's it." he said with a smile.

Nick stopped next to Al, looking down. "Wow," he murmured, seeing all of them. "Who's the...alpha," he asked, just wanting to know.

"Ed and I are. We share the duties. We'll make you alpha too later I think. We'll need a third person to settle arguments." Al said simply. "Come on, it's almost dark."

Nick looked at him. "But I don't know anything about the pack's rules," he said, feeling nervous about ruling the pack, even with his brothers' help. He followed his brother, helping Ilane.

"You'll learn quickly. You always have." Al said slowly walking down the hill.

Nick nodded and looked around at the pack curiously and a bit nervously when they arrived at the bottom of the hill.

"Ed!" Al yelled, smiling. "Look who I found! Our little brother!"

Ilane held Nick's hand nervously. She was scared something was going to happen like she wasn't allowed to stay here with them.

Nick held onto Ilane's hand, standing slightly in front of her protectively, as he looked around for whoever had answered to Al yelling.

Ed, who was poking around the pack aimlessly, heard his name and turned. "Nick!? Is that really you!?"

"Yes," Nick answered a bit nervously as Ed ran up to them.

"I just told you I found him..." Al said, a bit annoyed that his brother wasn't really listening, like always.

Ilane stayed slightly behind nick, know he'll protect her.

Ed smiled happily. "It's good to see you safe," he told him. "Who is this," he asked, seeing Ilane behind him.

"Ilane," Nick answered, standing in front of her protectively. "She is my.. human," he still felt awkward saying so, but it was true, he though.

"Do you plan on turning her," Ed asked.

"I..." Nick looked back at Ilane. "Only if she wants me to... Or if we have to..."

Ilane was to shy to say anything, she only held onto Nick tighter and scooted a little more behind him.

Al chuckled. "I got everything you said we needed." He told his brother.

Ed nodded to Al, still looking at Ilane curiously, before he didn't press the issue and motioned for them to follow. "Come on. Let's eat. I'm sure you guys are starving."

Ilane smiled. "Starving." she said simply. She smiled at Nick, she hoped he'd be happy here, it was his family.

Nick nodded and smiled softly at Ilane.

"Come on guys, we've got deer cooking on the fire" al said, moving to the center of the pack.

Nick followed close behind his brother, feeling nervous with everyone staring at him and Ilane. He ignored them, keeping his eyes in front of him.

Ilane however, looked at everyone and everything. She stayed slightly behind Nick and kept a hold of his hand. she wasn't scared, just shy.

Ed handed them each a bit of the meat. "Don't be afraid to ask for more; we've got plenty."

Nick nodded and took some, handing some to Ilane as well. "Thank you."

Ilane took what she was handed and smiled. "This is good."

Al smiled. "It would be, I cooked it."

"As modest as ever," Ed chuckled, shaking his head.

Nick smiled, feeling more comfortable as he ate.

"What?" Al asked his older brother. "I did cook it! Everyone knows that everything I cook is amazing!"

"Everyone knows that you brag about it, too," Ed chuckled.

"There's no bragging when it's the truth." Al said.

Ed and Nick chuckled, then Ed turned to Ilane. "So, are you the one who took Nick in when we dropped him off," he asked softly.

Ilane nodded. "I found him as a puppy I guess on the side of the road. He sort of attached himself to me." She said, smiling.

"No wonder either." Al said then nudged Nick happily. "You picked good. She's pretty."
