A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.1

He nodded. "What do you want to take," he asked. "I won't need anything."

"I don't really know... What will I need?" she asked.

"I'm not sure... maybe clothes," Nick guessed.

She nodded, pulling out a small bag. "I guess clothes would be useful." she said as she started packing. Then she stopped and turned to him. "Are you going to turn me into one of you?"

He thought a minute. "I... I don't know... If... You want me to... Or if it makes you safest..."

She smiled and went to him and kissed his lips softly. "You're cute when you're flustered."

He blushed and froze, not knowing how to respond. "Uhm... Thank..you?"

She smiled and started to pack again.

"Do you need me to help with anything," he asked, looking around.

She shook her head. "I don't think so. I think I'm done..."

He nodded and took the bag. "I'll carry it for you," he offered, taking her other hand in his.

She smiled. "Thank you." She said as she walked out of her apartment with him. "Wait..." she mumbled, going back inside then coming back with a pillow wrapped in a blanket. "These are some of my favorite things. If I'm sleeping in the forest, I'm gonna want them."

He nodded and offered her his hand again before walking to where his brother said he would meet them.

His brother was already there, waiting for them. He smiled, seeing them. "I was starting to wonder if you were going to come or not." he said. Next to him, he had piles of food and blankets of his own. "You ready?"

Nick nodded. "Yes," he said, feeling excited and scared again. They were really going! "Lead the way, brother."

Al smiled, picking up the bags. "Alright. It's a long walk. you two ready for it?" He asked.

Ilane smiled. "I can walk anywhere you can." She said.

He chuckled and nodded. "Alright then, let's go." he said, starting to lead the way out of the city.

Nick followed his brother, walking alongside Ilane to make sure she didn't get left behind, and to protect her if something happened to jump out.

Nothing jumped out and the three of them left the city safely. They made it to the forest with no troubles. "It's only a little farther. Ed'll be so excited to see you Little Brother."

"Ed? Who is older, you or him," Nick asked curiously, helping Ilane through the thicket.

Ilane stayed silent, letting the brothers talk as she walked with them, accepting the help.

"You don't remember..." Al mumbled to himself. "Ed older, them me, then you."

"Has the pack been safe since... while I was in the city," he asked.

He nodded. "We've grown bigger than what you probably remember. We've been safe, but the humans are expanding, so we need to move."

Nick nodded. "I hardly remember anything," he admitted. "I remember someone... Either you or Ed, maybe, telling me that I had to stay in my wolf form and live with the humans for a while. I remember a little bit about mom and dad..."

"Ed was explaining that to you. He was trying to keep you safe." Al said softly. "Mom and Dad died a few years ago."

Nick pursed his lips and nodded. "I understand," he replied quietly.
