A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.1

Ilane crouched with him, smelling the deer as if they were right next to her. 'can I go for the big one?' she asked.

He looked at her and sighed, nodding. 'Let me help you. They kick the hardest,' he told her. 'Stay here,' he said, and slowly started to circle around the biggest one.

She did as she was told, staying where she was. She would wait for his signal or something.

He positioned himself where she saw him, but the deer didn't. He nodded to her, ready to pounce the deer when he came to him.

Ilane nodded back and started running to the buck so that he ran to Nick and he could catch him.

Startled, the buck ran right towards Nick, who jumped up and bit his neck hard, bringing him down in five seconds, and broke his neck. It'd been a long time since Nick had hunted something larger than he was; he liked it.

The other dear ran away as the buck was killed. Ilane came running over to Nick, a goofy, wolfy smile on her face. 'that was fun!'

Nick barked a laugh. 'I know! It's been a long time since I've brought down anything bigger than me,' he wagged his tail.

She smiled, looking at the buck. 'how do we get it home?'

He grinned and picked it up by its neck, where he bit it. 'We drag it,' he chuckled and started walking forwards, skilfully not tripping over the carcus in his mouth.

Ilane walked next to him, wagging her tail happily.

When they got back, the whole pack howled and cheered, wagging their tails happily, clapping if they were in their human forms. Nick dropped the deer down onto the ground and shook his fur, grinning at Ilane. 'Take the first bite, love,' he said.

She looked at him, her eyes wide. 'Uncooked?'

'We can cook it if you like,' he said. 'Our wolf bodies are able to eat uncooked meat and not get sick. Very handy if we're in a hurry.'

She nodded. 'Is it a tradition to take the first bite raw?' she asked. She didn't want to break any traditions.

'Not really. You can do whatever you want, love,' he nuzzled her. 'It is your new body. Do what you want with it. Just don't die.'

She smiled. 'I'll try it raw... I've never had anything raw.' She said. She leaned down and took a bite right out of it's neck.

He took his bite next, tearing away the hide to get to the meat underneath.

She made a face but ate all of it. "I don't like raw meat.' she said.

He chuckled and licked the blood from his paws and muzzle. 'At least you tried it, love,' he nuzzled her.

She nuzzled him back and licked the blood off her chops. 'yeah... I did.'

He smiled and rolled onto his back, wagging his tail. He'd never been so happy in his life.

She smiled, laying down next to him, letting her head rest on her paws.

He rolled onto his side, grinning at her, his tail wagging happily, and licked her cheek. 'Are you happy, love,' he asked curiously. 'Do you like being a wolf?'

She nodded, laying her head on his paws. 'I really like this. I like running faster and seeing and hearing things better.' she answered.
