"How can I believe that when you were gone for such a long time?" she whispered. Her whole body ached with feelings she hadn't feel since she had been a teenager. He always made her feel like that. Dawson had been the only guy who she'd ever felt so vulnerable around.

"You shouldn't assume things." she said softly. Sighing, she noted his damp hair and shirt, and realized that he must have been out in the rain. "Do you need some dry clothes?" she asked him, getting up from the bed. Anything to change the subject.

A soft blush lit her cheeks, but she quickly shook her head and went to get him a sweatshirt to wear. It was wrong to be attracted to him. He looked around Adam's age! Sighing deeply and brushing some hair from her eyes, she returned to the bedroom and handed him a baggy green sweatshirt. It would be best to hide his body.

Ruby paused, surprised that he knew about their daughter, and then sighed. "Her name is Jeanette." she answered softly. "Jean for short." Taking a seat at the foot of the bed, she sighed softly to herself.

"Well, she's beautiful because of you." Ruby murmured softly. "She has your eyes, and your smile..." She always saw him in Jean. Ruby remembered times where just looking at Jean had made her want to cry. But she had still remained a good mother, always being there for Jean when she had needed it.

"I didn't think that you were a monster." Ruby stated, her voice low and a little sad. "Yes, I'll admit that I was afraid at first, but who wouldn't be? Out of no where I was finding out that such things as vampires were real!" she refrained from telling him that Jean was pregnant with the lovechild of a werewolf. No need to smother him with information. "It was a little overwhelming for me. I was only eighteen." A soft sigh passed her lips.

"And I didn't tell you because I didn't know where you were. I tried looking for you, but by the time that Jean had turned five, I had given up and assumed that you didn't want to be found. At least, not by me." she answered, her voice quivering slightly as she said that last part.

"You should assume things." she said for the second time that night. Sighing softly, she forced herself to look up at him. It was raining hard outside, and while he was there, she might as well offer to let him stay the night. "Do you need a place to stay?"

"I think that she deserves to have the right to see her daddy. It's only fair. She had to go through her whole life without having a dad. It's only fair that she get to see you at least once." Ruby reasoned, getting up from the bed. "Do you want to meet your daughter?"

It wouldn't have been fair of her to try and keep him away from his own flesh and blood. As they reached the stair case, she sighed softly. How in the world had Dawson suddenly been thrust back into her life? Walking into the living room, she looked softly at Adam and then at her daughter Jean. "Jean, I have someone who I want you to meet."

However, Dawson hardly needed any introduction. At first Jean had been confused seeing the man, but when she looked closer at him and saw his eyes, she needed no further explanation. "Daddy..." she whispered softly, getting up and going over to him. Looking into his eyes one more time, she then hugged him.

Dawson looked back at her " Jean" and when she hugged him he hugged her tightly. He kissed the top of her head and rocked her gently in his arms.

She didn't feel any anger like other people would have felt. What could she say? Jean was happy to see that her father was alive, and that he was with her. "I thought that you were dead." she whispered softly, hugging him once more. Her mother had never really talked a lot about her father, and Jean knew that this was because it upset her.

Jean listened to him quietly, only interupting every now and then to ask him to clarify things, like how he had met her mother and why he had left. Every now and then she would look at her mother, and she would understand why her mother had refused to date after she was born, and why she was against physical behavior with men. She had never gotten over her father.

Anyone could see ( And hear by the way he said Ruby) by the way he looked at Ruby that he was still in love with her.

" I came back to see her. I wasn't sure if she wanted to see me...it was kinda on accident that she came upon me looking at some of your baby pictures on the dresser.." Dawson said. He didn't want to let go of his daughter. There was so much he missed out on and he wanted to learn everything about her. He wasn't concerned about the wolf boy.....yet.

Well, that wolf boy was the father of Dawson's unborn grandchild. Jean listened to him softly as he spoke. Her mother had left the room a while ago, and Jean could see in her eyes that she was hurting again. It was no secret that her mother was celibate and hadn't been with a man other than Jean's father. Jean had assumed that she was planning on dying alone; not someting that she enjoyed thinking about.
