Deryk smiled and sipped on his wine, skimming over his book.

Alex looked up at him curiously, ready to follow him for the rest of the tour.

(For once I didn't mean it like that...)

Sarah smiled, watching Deryk over the rim of her glass.

Grayson smiled, starting down the hall again."

Deryk blinked at her. "What?"

Alex followed closely behind him, looking around curiously.

Sarah blushes, smiling. "I told you, you're an interesting specimen for me to study.."

Grayson smiled as he watched Alex. "Enjoying what you see so far?"

He chuckled. "I suppose you can study away," he mused and took another sip of wine, going back to his book.

"Yes," Alex smiled, nodding. "You have a beautiful home."

Sarah blushed, smiling. She took another sip of wine, having drunk about half of it. "No worries, I will..." She watched him, especially his eyes. They way the flickered across the page, the way his eyes lit up when he read something he liked.

Grayson smiled. "Well thank you. It's been in my family for 200 years..."

[DEJA VU! o.o;]

He chuckled at her response and turned the page; he'd already read the book, but it interested him greatly.

Alex blinked. "Wow, that's a long time."

(huh?)

Sarah smiled, watching him. She finished off her glass, setting it to the side. She tilted her head, keeping a good lock on his eyes.

Grayson smiled. "Yeah. We've done renovations of course, keep the house in shape..."

Deryk read, engrossed in his book as he usually got, in a total different world.

Alex nodded; it made sense. "It's beautiful," she repeated. But it was true.

Sarah smiled, resting her chin on her arms as she watched him. He was incredible, in every aspect.

Grayson smiled. "Thank you..." He moved into the front hall and stopped in front of two sets of stairs. "The left goes directly up to the third floor, where you, me and the others stay. The right set goes to the second floor, where the bathing room and laundry room is."

Deryk continued reading until well after the storm was gone. Finally, he yawned and looked at his watch. "Goodness," he blinked and looked at Sarah to see if she was still there or had fallen asleep.

Alex nodded. "Do you have a lot of other slaves," she asked him quietly.

Sarah smiled, having had another glass of wine already. "You're really interesting Deryk..."

Grayson shrugged. "Not really, I have about 5 or so others..."

Deryk chuckled. "I thought you would ahve gone to bed. I'm sorry... When I read, I get really into the book."

Alex nodded. She wondered if he would be getting any more, but that was rude to ask.

Sarah chuckled. "I don't sleep much as it is... I like having things to do... And watching you was a good thing to do.."

Grayson smiled. "What'd you want to ask? I can see it on your face..."

He chuckled. "Well, I'm glad you think so."

"I... I-I was gonna ask.... if you were going to.. take in any more slaves," she said quietly, looking down at her feet.

Sarah chuckled. "I do... I bet you're going to go to bed now..."

Grayson chuckled. "I might.. Who knows? Right now, I'm content with who I have though..."

He chuckled. "You read me like a book," he said. "I think I'm going to sleep in tomorrow. I'll let you know the schedule of things in the morning."

Alex was relieved he didn't yell at her for such a rude question. She wondered what her jobs would be as his slave.

Sarah smiled. "That sounds like a good idea... Thank you..."

Grayson smiled. "I'm not a typical slave owner I guess... I don't hurt my slaves..."

He smiled and nodded. "Would you like me to walk you back to your room?

Alex looked up at him curiously, with relief in her eyes.

Sarah smiled. "I'd like that, yeah..."

Grayson smiled. "I have more respect for people than that..."

He smiled and offered her his hand after he wiped down the bar.

Alex nodded, hiding a small smile. "Yes. For that I am thankful," she said quietly.

Sarah smiled, sliding her hand smoothly into his. "Thank you."

Grayson chuckled, starting up the left set of stairs. "Well, do you want to see your room now?"

"You're welcome," Deryk smiled, walking towards her room with her.

Alex nodded. "Yes... May I have a bath first," she asked timidly. "I feel filthy in your clean home," she explained quietly, following him.

Sarah smiled some, her eyes adjusting to the dark hallways they walked through. It felt different with Deryk, safer somehow.

Grayson smiled. "You may do what you wish until dinner. I'll send up Joleen to come get you..."

Deryk found her room easily in the dark hallway. "Here you are," he smiled softly at her. "I'm sorry I basically ignored you," he smiled sheepishly.

Alex looked up at him. "Really? I can do what I want...?" She didn't believe it - after all the masters and mistresses she's had, she'd never been able to do what she wanted to do.
