| He shook his head, " Jenny I'm a dangerous man. I can't let you get hurt, Jenny. I'm....a gangster" he said softly looking away. " Its no life for a woman like you. " He used woman to let her know he saw her as a woman not a girl. | |

| "What if I want a life that involves you?" she asked softly. It was obvious that Jenny had a crush on him but she wasn't going to force him to reciprocate the feelings. She just wanted to be close to him. Was that a crime? "I don't mind if I know you for fifty years and we are nothing more than two people sharing a cup of coffee. I just want to be with you in any way that I can." |

| " Jenny, I don't share, I take." he said looking away. " I take and I don't let go. I don't think this is a sort of life for you....being undergard all the time, me worring if one of the guys after me attacks you or any kids we have. I can't.... let that be your fate" he said | |

| "Let's just enjoy the time that we have now. Please don't push me away from you." she murmured softly, looking into his eyes pleadingly. "I know that you've already done so much from me, but I still need you." She looked down quietly and sighed. "In a month or so I'm going to be trapped in a loveless marriage for the rest of my life. The least that I could use as a friend." Even if he couldn't love her romantically she still wanted him there on the sidelines for support and comfort. |

| " And you expect me to sit there on the sidelines and watch you go through a worse life then this." he shook his head. " I guess love trades off with safety. At least you'll be safe....for the most part. While love can be found here you are not safe....." he shook his head. " I don't know if I can watch from the sidelines what that heartless man will do. I can't watch you cry because he doesn't even know you exist as a person, just someone he gets to bang at night." he looked away wincing because of his arm. " I don't know if I can watch you, heavily pregnant with HIS kids." he muttered. " I don't know. Maybe we're in too deep already......" He was realizing there was more to this than just a simple friendship. | |

| She listened to him softly, carefully massaging his arm when he winced. "Things like this happen all of the time. Even now it's still rare that people marry one another for love." Jenny said this thoughtfully and then carefully reached up and caressed his cheek. "I know where I stand with Reginald, that to him I'm just something to look at and to give him a couple of children. It can't be helped. But it can be helped whether or not your my friend." she looked at him softly. "I really want to be with you, even if it's only as friends, even if it's only for a little longer. Please give me that." |

| " Maybe I'm being selfish." he sighed closing his eyes. He didn't know what to tell her. | |

| "Just sat that you won't make me leave." she said softly. "I told you, I understand that we can't have anything other than a friendship. As long as I can be with you I don't care how." Jenny was insistent on having at least one thing in her life that she actually wanted to be there. "I don't have a lot of things in my life that I actually want in it. Please, I'm begging you." |

| "As long as you remember that I'm a grown woman. I'm sure that I can handle things myself." A soft yawn passed from her lips and she smiled, closing her eyes. She was happy that he was at least agreeing to let her be around him, even if it couldn't be romantically. In the end if they had wanted a romantic relationship it wouldn't have worked out. They couldn't exactly ignore Reginald and the fact that soon she would be his wife. |

| Danny couldn't follow his heart anyways. His life was no life for a woman. He couldn't put her in that danger. The odd thing was that she didn't freak out when he told her he was a gang member. He couldn't understand why she still wanted to be around him.
He couldn't keep girlfriends either. They always were over dramatic with him. When he wanted to be alone they always took it off the deep end. Or if he talked with another woman they always got jealous and it was a constant screaming match...them screaming at him more likely. Ah but he had the achilles heel for dames. He could be soft and loving around them. Love didn't exactly get the dough in his profession not to mention you couldn't sweet talk a cop to let you go. You had to blast his brains out.

| As the afternoon bore on it grew to be cold outside and eventually started to rain. Jenny had only left his side to go to the market to get some groceries for a proper meal (seeing that he hardly had anything good in his cabinets and small refrigerator.) When she returned to the apartment she was soaked from head to toe, not having been able to get a tazi as easily as she had before. Placing down the groceries she wiped some of the damp hair from her eyes before started to unpack the groceries. |

| She offered him a sheepish smile. "I suppose so." she admitted after a minute or two, crinkeling her nose in a cute manner. The truth was she was freezing and really did need a dry change of clothes. "I really care more about preparing something for you to eat, though." she would go get a change of clothes later once he was fed and taken care of. |

| " Food can wait. I don't want you getting a cold." he said as he got her some cotton pants and a shirt of his. He handed them to her. " Go get warm" | |

| Jenny was planning on preparing a warm soup for him to drink but of course was stopped before she could even open the can of broth. Sighing softly she accepted the clothes from him and then went into his bedroom to chance. She removed her dress, letting it crinkle around her feet before stepping out of it. She hesitated to remove her slip, but did and then put on the clothes he had given her. |

| Danny made himself usefull as he opened all the cans for her. He started to sing as he opened the cans.
I need Brazil, the throb, the thrill I've never been there, but someday I will Adventure and danger, love from a stranger Let me be surprised
Today there's sun, they said there'd be snow When all said and done, it's fun not to know What keeps my heart humming Is guessing what's coming Let me be surprised

| She adjusted the collar to the button down shirt before walking out of the bedroom. Jenny had decided against using the pants not only because they were too baggy for her but because the shirt was mostly big enough to hide her more private body parts. Thankfully she had been able to also wear her undergarments which were only slightly dampened by the rain. "Oh, look at you!" she remarked, smiling as she listened to him sing. |

| She smiled softly at him. "Thank you." Jenny said in reply, walking over to the small island counter. His shirt was baggy on her and thankfully did not show off any feminine curve. Even the leg that was shown was still not over the top out there and vulgar. Taking one of the cans from his hands she then walked over to the stove, lit it with a match and then poured the broth into a large sauce pan. |

| " yeah" he said gently as he walked into the living room. He winced. His arm still hurt a bit. He layed on the couch rubbing his eyes. | |

| Jenny had moved over to the cutting board and was now mincing some carrots and celery sticks. She watched as Danny left the room and walked over to the couch, grimacing when she heard the soft groan leave his lips. A small sigh left her and she shook her head. She wished that there was more that she could do to take care of him; It made her feel really useless that all she could do was make some soup. |

| He looked at his watch and sighed. He really shouldn't be laying about. He had to go back to the hideout. But he couldn't leave her and he knew she wouldn't let him go. Bah she was sounding like some sort of girlfriend. He grunted moving onto his side so his wounded arm was up. | |

| Jenny looked up as she heard him grunt and sighed, placing down the cutting knife she had been using. Stepping out of the small kitchen and into the equally small living room she walked over to the couch where he was lying down. "Let me help you," she murmured softly. "You shouldn't strain your arm." Reaching for the sofa pillows she placed them behind his head, helping him sit up. "Is there anything else I can do for you?" |

| " I was fine." he said gently as he reRE adjusted himself and layed down with his back to her closing his eyes. He was tired from the wound. | |
