Trace and Me Only!

"The rogues were saying your name," he easily lied. "They were calling you Beth. I assumed that was your name."

She just quietly nodded and turned to her sandwich.

Jess stayed with them, offering Beth some quiet female company, while Kade was fidgety, pacing and asking if she was comfortable about every ten minutes.

"Kade, let the poor girl rest," Jess told him sympathetically.

Bethany laid there, on the verge of falling asleep, her eyelids too heavy to keep open.

Kade went to her side as she stared nodding off, gently stroking her hair and murmuring comforting words to her.

She smiled softly to herself in her sleep, suprised that someone she only knew for a few hours seemed so caring about her.

"Sleep well, Beth," he whispered. He might as well have said 'i love you' from the way his voice sounded

She fell asleep and slept for the next 10 hours.

Kade never left her side, never let go of her hand, even as he slept.

When she woke up she rolled over and saw him at her side, she jumped a little in shock, "You're still here?" she asked hesitantly.

He'd just woken up so was a little tired. "Of course," he yawned. "How are you feeling," he asked softly.

"Better, but not like...amazing." she said stretching a little, she forgot she didn't really have any clothes on when the blankets fell. she gasped and pulled the blankets back up around her, "Can I...get some clothes?" she asked blushing.

He politely didn't look (though not without forcing himself). "Of course," he said and called Jess to bring her some clothes. "Are you hungry or thirsty," he asked Beth.

"A little bit." she said blushing, "Can I have some eggs?"

"Scrambled? Sunny-side-up? Egg sandwich," he asked, wondering what kind of eggs were her favorite.

"Just scrambled eggs." she said to embarrassed to look him in the eye.

"Scrambled eggs, it is," he smiled gently at her and squeezed her hand softly.

"Thank you." she smiled at him, "Do you cook?"

"I can," he nodded. "I haven't in a while, though."

"Are you any good at cooking?" she chuckled.

He chuckled. "I can make eggs perfectly fine," he assured her.

"Thats good, but Uhm, how long am I staying here?" she suddenly asked.

"As long as it takes to keep you safe," he told her softly.

"What about...My sister and her son?" she asked quietly, "Whats going to happen to them?" she asked biting her lip.

"My friends have recovered their bodies and cleaned them up," he told her gently. "We don't have the power to revive them," he said regretfully. "We haven't buried them yet, so you can say goodbye," he told her gently, squeezing her hand.
