Damon growled and knocked on their dorm door. "Girls, please hurry. I have a feeling this isn't from natural causes. Are you two alright in there?"

Failry opened the door to show they were alright and nodded. "We're almost done getting what we can't live without. It's in one box, but it's heavy. Can you get it while we get our jackets?"

Damon nodded and grabbed the box, which wasn't heavy in the least to him. He hoisted it over his head and held it with one hand on the bottom with no effort. "Come on," he ushered them with his free hand.

Baily grabbed a few more things as did Fairly and then walked out ahead of him. It was slow moving as there were so many people in the hall and it soon became filled with smoke and became hard to breath.

Damon cursed, growling. "Take my hand," he told them. "Don't let go. We're gonna push our way through."

Baily coughed but nodded, taking his hand and then taking Fairly's.

He held onto her hand, not letting go as he shoved his way through the crowd. Finally, they made it outside and to the van. "Are you two alright," he asked, putting the box down inside the vehicle and turning to them both.

They were wet and coughing badly but Baily nodded, looking back at the dorm where they could see flames coming out of windows. She could hear sirens now, getting closer.

Damon got a couple blankets out of the back of the van and wrapped them around the girls' shoulders. "Let's get back to the compound," he murmured to them. "We'll wait for Niko and he'll take you back. I'll meet you there."

Baily looked at Damon. "Can't you take us?" She asked.

"I need to feed," he reminded her. "And I'm going to figure out who started the fire."

Baily nodded. "Alright..."

Niko ran up to them. "What the hell happened," he growled, looking at the flames and at Damon.

"I don't think it's from natural causes. I'm going to find out now. Take them back to the compound. I'll head there as soon as I'm done."

Niko nodded, taking the keys. "Careful, man."

"I will be," he said and prowled off to find out who did it.

"Let's head home," Niko said, getting in the driver's seat.

This time, Fairly got in the front seat and looked over at Damon. "What does he think caused that fire?"

"I'm not sure," Nikolai frowned. "A Rogue or Minion, most likely. Unless one of your classmates decided to play a sick joke."

Damon became one with the shadows, or so it seemed. He moved faster than the human eye could see, becoming only a slight breeze as he passed them. He found a Rogue with lighter fluid and growled, going in for the attack somewhere behind the school, away from human eyes.

"so people are trying to kill us... How come this hasn't happened before? Is it like, common knowlege what we are now?" she asked.

"They must have seen your birthmarks when you were outside," he murmured. "Either that or they're watching our every move. Damnit," he cursed, banging the steering wheel. His fangs were extending in his frustration, his green eyes turning amber.

Fairly scooted away from him in fear but didn't let it all show. "What are we going to do about it?"

He sighed, forcing himself to calm down, though his fangs stayed extended a little. "We? You are going to stay in the compound, or a Darkhaven where it's safe. You can continue your courses online. Going to school now would only put you in danger."

Both of them objected to that. "We can't do that!" Fairly said. "We can't just swich to online courses in the middle of the semester!"

He cursed. "Then I sure as hell hope you're not taking night classes."

"We're not! It's all during the day. We should be safe during the day." She snapped.

"You should be, yes," he countered and sighed, forcing himself to calm down again. "Just make sure you're both at the compound before sundown, yeah?"

"fine!" Fairly snapped and crossed her arms, looking out the window.

He muttered something in German, his native language, too low for the human women to hear as he arrived at the compound.

With the Rogue gone and no others in sight, Damon went to hunt for his meal. He came across an easy one - a female walking her dog alone. He mentally commanded her to come to him, sent one to her dog to keep quiet, and sank his fangs into her neck, drinking quickly. When he had what he needed, he sealed the wound with a lick and wiped her memory. "Go home now. The night is full of predators," he told her. She nodded and continued her walk as he ran towards the compound.
