Me and Steph!

Jack sighed, putting the pasta on foil and placing it inside the oven. If he heated it up in the microwave, it would just dry. At least in the oven it would keep some of it's moistness. He then looked over at Lilli, silent. "What did you expect me to do? First you're with that idiot, you don't believe what I said, and then after being dumped, you come back to me begging for forgiveness and to be with me. What kind of f-ed up sh*t is that? It only happens in the movies, Lill." he said, sighing again.

"That's not true, it happens in role plays also..." she said then sighed. "I loved him okay. I couldn't believe what you had said. "I tried to apologize, tried to make things better, but you just walked away. What kinds of shit is that? After all the years of friendship, one stupid little fight like that and you walk away..."

"Oh really? Should I remind you of the words you used to tell me you didn't believe me? You thought I was using some sort of pathetic excuse to get with you. You were f-cking smug! Then you just really broke off our friendship! How did you expect me to forgive that and just say 'Ok, let's get together now!' ?" Jack said, tears rimming around his eyes. It was obvious he was going to cry, but he kept it in.

"I didn't want a lover Jack! I wanted my friend! I went to you to tell my friend that I was sorry. To tell my friend that I was stupid!" she yelled, obviously upset.

Jack sighed, looking away. "Whatever. Just what do you want from me now? I forgive you, but it doesn't mean that we have to act weird....We're friends, nothing more and nothing less." he said, closing his eyes and biting his lip. Just thinking about it hurt.

"Alright, just friends. All's forgiven and we're fine." she mumbled.

Jack grunted, walking over to her and pressing her up against the wall. "Just what do you want from me? Please...I just want things the same again if even remotely close.." he asked, staring into her eyes.

"I want you to love me!" she said before she could stop herself. Lilli sighed and since she already said it, she wrapped her arms around his waist. "I haven't been able to get over you... I've always loved you, you know that. If you can't love me back then at least just be my friend."

Jack sighed, pressing his head against hers and chuckled weakly. "I've loved you too....God, I've lied to myself too much.." he said, kissing her softly. His hand cupped her cheek, caressing it.

Her stomach got butterflies and she smiled at him. "I shouldn't have been so silent about it..."

Jack sighed, looking down and smiling weakly. "Yeah, what a perfect situation in which we both finally kiss and mean it. I just..ugh, I had so much pent up. It's stupid, and fast, too. So, let's just really go off on this 'relationship' when that psycho is behind bars." he said, hugging her and nuzzling her neck.

Lilli looked at him. "Are you serious? I just told you that I loved you and you tell me that you want me to wait? No way, I'm not doing that."

Jack lost the smile, grunting his response. "I....Sh*t, you know I don't do well with confrontation." he mumbled, looking up. "What do you suggest I do? Especially with a psycho on the loose after my girl." he asked, staring into her eyes and holding her face within his hands.

"I expect you to protect me and to love me. there's no confrontation here... Not with us." she said, resting her hands on his hips.

Jack sighed, loving how she worded everything. "Ok....I'll cool off, especially with the gun and all that. Still, I donno. That guy just creeps me out and I'm just afraid one morning I'm going to wake up and you'll be either dead next to me or gone. You were trying to leave, weren't you? Earlier?" he asked, kissing her head and hugging her tightly.

She nodded. "I was scared that if I told you that I loved you as much as I do that it would screw things up again."

Jack chuckled, shaking his head. "Things are different now, we're adults. Come on, Lilli." he mused, smiling and kissing her softly. "Would it be dangerous you think for me to take you to the movies tonight? What do you think?"

"I think it should be okay." she smiled.

Jack grinned, nodding. "Ok, well then, since last time..which was a long time ago, I think it's your turn to pick something for us to watch. Hopefully it's early, too." he said as he backed up and went back into the kitchen, warming up the pasta slowly in the oven.

"you mean you''re letting me pick the movie?" she asked, smiling as she followed him.

Jack smiled, looking over his shoulder and nodding. "Yeah, why not?"

"Any movie?" she asked.

Jack grunted, turning over and staring. "You just messing with me or is it hard to believe I'm letting you pick a movie?"
