A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.2

Ilane smiled. "I'd like that. Just keep the blanket around me. I don't have anything on."

Brados nodded and lifted her, making sure the blanket was secure and looked over to Sam. "Do you want to ride on my back, love? Or would you rather walk?"

"I can walk." Sam said softly.

Ilane's ribs moved as she was picked up and she clung to Brados, wincing in pain.

"Sorry," Brados held her gently, moving gracefully so he didn't bounce her as he walked to the creek.

Sam walked next to them as Ilane held onto him, trying not to move to much.

Brados gently sat Ilane down by the edge of the water and kissed Sam's forehead. "I'll be nearby if you need me," he told them and left to give them privacy.

Sam and Ilane both bathed and Sam helped Ilane get some actual clothes on. Soon, Sam went to Brados. "Hey. You can carry her back now."

Brados nodded and kissed her before he went to pick Ilane up very gently.

Ilane winced again then looked at Brados. "Have you ever had anything broken?" She asked.

Brados nodded and slowly started back towards her den. "Many times. Before I joined this pack, I was in a very different, more violent-run pack. My bones were broken on a near daily basis."

"Wow... Are you happy that you moved?" she asked.

He nodded. "Most definitely. I was always angry in my other pack, always looking for a reason to fight. Eventually, I'd had enough and left, then stumbled upon Rika and Sam, and I never looked back. I've never been happier than I am now," he smiled. "I'm very lucky that Sam loves me. I don't think someone like me would ever find a true mate."

Sam smiled. "I love you, baby." she said.

"That's good." Ilane said. "As long as you're happy that's all the matters."

Brados smiled happily down at her. "I love you, too, sweetheart." He looked at Ilane and smiled. "Were you human before? I can smell some human on you," he admitted. "How did you and Nick meet?"

Ilane smiled. "He was my pet." She said, letting that linger for a while.

Brados fought a smile. "Your...pet...." he repeated dumbly.

She nodded. "I didn't know he was a werewolf. I just thought he was a really good dog."

"That's a big dog," Brados chuckled, reaching her den and gently laying her in her bed.

She winced then sighed. "Yeah... I like 'em big."

He chuckled and pulled the blanket over her. "Do you need anything else?"

She shook her head. "No. I'm good. Thank you."

He smiled. "Do you want company or sleep," he asked, thinking she needed her rest, but wanted to leave it up to her.

"I'm tired. I'd like to sleep for a little while." She said softly.

"Alright. One of us will bring you some food later tonight." Sam said.

[My sister came in, and I'm going to bed here in a few anyway. I've got such a headache and I'm so tired.]

Brados nodded, smiling softly at her, and took Sam's hand. "Sleep well, Ilane," he murmured. "I won't let anything happen; I promise."

"Could you guys sit... like, close?" She asked. "I'm still kind of nervous."
