Harry nodded his head. " Our baby" he said gently. He didn't know what to do. Plead her father for forgivness or take Annie far away from London and England. Go to the French and start a new life there......So many ideas flooded his mind but they were the basic concept of taking Annie and thier precious baby to a new world.

She wasn't afraid, though. Somehow, she just knew that things would be alright. Maybe it was just the feeling that their baby was only going to bring them closer. It didn't seem logical for her to be so sure that things would turn out alright. Mary Anne knew that she would have to tell her parents soon, but she didn't know how. She couldn't just run away from home. She had an inheritence and a fiance. And while she didn't want the latter, they both needed the inheritence to help take care of their baby.

" How are we going to explain this to your parents" he said softly holding her in his arms.

"I don't know." Mary Anne admitted softly, resting her head upon his shoulder. She really wished that she did have an answer, though. However, unbeknownst to them, a servant had caught them holding eachother, and had quickly gone to gossip about this with the other maids. And unfortunately, Mary Anne's mother ended up getting an earful of her daughter's affair with her personal butler. It wasn't very long before she went to her husband to alert him of this.

Then there was a loud " WHAT!!!!!!! MARY ANNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HARRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Harry flinched. " Uh oh..."

Mary Anne gasped softly, and felt herself hold tighter on to Harry. Suddenly she was very afraid and felt very much at threat by staying in this house. "W-well.." she murmured softly against his chest, "At least now we don't have to worry about telling him.." she muttered, reluctantly walking with him to her father's office.

Her father was trying to be calmed down by her mother.

Harry came in with mary Anne.

" You better talk first dear" the father said to his wife trying not to kill anyone.

Mary Anne's mother knew what it was like to be in a loveless marriage. She was currently cheating on her husband with the baker. Society is what had pinned her to her husband, a man who she really could only see as a friend. And she could understand if Mary Anne wanted to be with another man, but why couldn't she have simply waited until after she was married to start an affair with Harry? Clearing her throat, Mary Anne's mother began. "W-well," she said, "It would seem that the miads belive that you and Harry are having an affair.." This was very painful for her to say. "May I please ask how serious this affair is?"

Mary Anne was quiet, not quite sure how to explain that she had slept with Harry- several times- and was now pregnant with his child. "It's very serious, Mother." she answered softly. Her voice seemed to catch in her throat, and it was a long time before she spoke again. "I'm pregnant."

" What!!!!!!!! I would have over looked if was minor kissing or holding!!!!!!!!!!" Her father bellowed.

Harry flinched.

" And there is no way we can pass the child off as your fiance's! harry is too much of a sewer rat and no doubt the child will look like him!" He bellowed. " What were you thinking!?"

Mary Anne frowned at her father, not appreciating the way that he was insulting Harry. "I was thinking that I love him! And I could never marry my fiance! I know that your marriage to mother was arranged, but I also know that you both cheat on eachother every chance that you get, and I do not want that!" Mary Anne answered.

Her father looked away, " Sometimes life isn't about being happy"

harry frowned, " Sir...."

" Quiet! You're lucky I haven't fired you yet!" He spat

"I've never been happy in my life." Mary Anne answered back. And that was the truth. The only time that she was ever happy was when she was with Harry. She hated being done up like some show dog and then forced to trot around at parties trying to find a rich husband who would never even love her. Hearing her father yell at Harry, she took a deep breath, and then did perhaps the boldest thing that she had ever done in her life. "If you continue to insult Harry, then I will tell my fiance that I am pregnant with Harry's child." She didn't care if her reputation was ruined and she would lose any chances for a rich husband. She only wanted Harry. Her parents, on the other hand, who cared about their reputation, would be devastated.

" Do you even care that you could end up in some leaky run down boarding out stuck with 12 children an living off a bulter's salary!" Her father bellowed, " I will not have ou family name dragged through the mud like that!"

"I do not," Mary Anne answered, "But you obviously do." She was sick of playing Little Miss Nice Girl. It was time to take a stand. She would not marry her fiance. And she would not keep Harry away from his baby. It was just as much his child as it was her child.

The father sighed and looked out the window. This wasn't easy at all. She was so determined to have this....rat as her own and h ave its offspring.

He didn't need this. He needed her to be the heir of the estate....

" Mary Ann, you better not make me regret my choice.....I'm going to give Harry a job as head banker and you are to marry Harry before you have this baby and Harry you do not have alot of time to build reputation. You're training as a head banker starts now. You are not to leave this library till I say otherwise. Your wedding will be held after you have gain some meager reputation. We're going to hide this mishap."

Mary Anne almost couldn't believe her ears. Not only did she not have to marry her fiance, but she would be marrying Harry! Finally they would be able to be together without wretched Society flicking their noses at them. She knew that her parents would probably begrudge her for this for most of, if not her whole, life. But she didn't care. Just as long as she could be with Harry.

And with that, her mother had taken her out of the library, and Harry and her father were alone.

To some up the whole library atmosphere it was rather like sticking your hand in battary acid. Her father glared at him with the up most venom in his eyes. But he taught Harry and he wasn't a pleasent teacher to say the least.

Mary Anne's mother didn't really know what to say to her. She had stood up to her father and was actually getting what she wanted. This had to be the first time that she had ever met a woman who had gone against Society's rules only to come out winning. With a sigh, she looked at Mary Anne briefly before leaving to go to her own boudoir.

A sigh of relief passed Mary Anne's lips once she was finally alone. She was happy that for once people were listening to her and that things were going her way, but she was also afraid for Harry. How would Society recieve him? She didn't want his life to become more difficult because of her.

It was hours later before her father released Harry. " Tomarrow morning we are shopping for new clothes and you're room is to be shared with Mary Ann. Right now in my eyes you are her husband you have full responsibilty over her."

In actual truth her father was so tickled bout Mary Ann growing back bone. She would be a good Heiress. He couldn't have been more prouder. Years later she would learn of her father's more cooler side as you will.

Mary Anne would find trouble believing that her father enjoyed her being defiant to him. A small sigh passed her lips as she placed the book down that she had been reading. She had had been in her sitting room, and she paused now to place her hand to her stomach. For a moment, she smiled. Her baby. Their baby.

Harry walked in holding his pillow, blanket, suitcase and teddy bear while in his night gown, slippers, and night cap. " I've been premoted to husband bulter, how may I help my pregnant wife" he smiled chuckling.

Mary Anne looked up as the door opened, and chuckled seeing Harry walk in. Of course, a small blush appeared on her cheeks. She hadn't expected him to be allowed to move into her bed chambers so soon. "I can think of a few ways." she said softly, getting up from her seat and walking over to him to kiss him.

Mary chuckled softly. "I'm sure that you know." she murmured, gently pulling away. Smiling, she then helped him put his things away, and then laid down on the bed. Under her father's eyes, they were now married. And their actual marriage would happen soon enough.
