| "A little bit." she whispered softly, her voice tired. Already she was starting to feel the effects of pregnancy, growing tired sooner than she normally did. She was also having trouble having to depend on Adam to do things for her. Jean hated being a burden. |

| "I don't know." she whispered softly. "Just something to eat." Jean could hear the sound of her mother's bedroom door opening, and someone walking out. She sighed and buried her face against her pillow, embarassed. |

| Adam walked out and dodged the eyes of her father and ran downstairs.
Dawson blinked and shook his head. He went to Jean's room, " knock knock"

| Jean stiffened hearing her father's voice, and buried herself deeply underneath the covers. Lord in Heaven, she felt really dirty right now. She vainly believed that by hiding underneath her comforter, she would disappear. |

| Jean sighed hearing the slight anger in her father's voice. Very reluctantly she moved up from underneath the covers, and looked up at him. "Long night." she said simply, her cheeks flushed. By now she was able to tell that her mother was a vampire, for she could sense the aura of another vampire in the house. |

| Dawson walked in and sat on her bed beside her, " I'm sorry that it was that loud." he said softly. | |

| "I think the baby could hear it." Jean whispered, and then shook her head. There was no reason to make her parents guilty for basically loving eachother. They had been apart for so long, it should have been understandable that they would be like that. |

| "No," she said, shaking her head. Crawling out from underneath the corners, she hugged him. "I understand that you love mom and that you miss her." Despite everything she had heard last night, all of the dirty words and grunts, she had also heard his soft words of love to her mother. |

| Jean was afraid to. Ruby had always been her mother. It would be difficult now to see her looking as if she were twenty. "I'm not sure if I can." she whispered softly, unable to look at him. It just seemed weird. |

| Perhaps it was hypocritical of her to be able to be around her father who only looked a year or so older than she was, but she still could not change the way that she felt. Just as Ruby had watched Jean age throughout the years, Jean ahd watched Ruby had aged. Now she would be seeing her mother as younger and perhaps even more full of life. And as sexually active. Agh! It was incredibly painful to think of your mother as twenty and sexually active. She had hardly even seen pictures of Ruby as a teenager! This was a big step. But yet, she knew that she couldn't spend her whole life trying to avoid her mother. |

| "You're not going to leave, are you?" Jean asked, sitting upright in bed. When he had said that he was going to leave, she feared that he would be leaving forever. Perhaps it was irrational to think this, she couldn't help but fear it. Dawson had just come back into her life, and she couldn't help but be afraid that he could leave it just as easily as he had entered it. Neither she nor her mother needed to go through that pain again. Her mother especially. |

| " Oh honey, I'm not leaving leaving. I'm just walking out to see your mom is all. I'll stay and talk if you want me too. I dunno if you think you're too big to be held but I can hold you and talk to you" Dawson said. He wanted to be close to his only daughter. | |

| "You promise?" she asked softly, looking at him hopefully. She really didn't want to think about being away from her father. He had been away from both her and her mother so long. Jean wasn't willing to be away from him anymore. It had been a sad life growing up without her father. "I'd like to be able to talk some times." she said, smiling. |

| Jean smiled at her father and then hugged him tightly. "I love you, Dad." she said softly. It felt incredible to her to be able to say that after living a life where she'd never had the reason to. The bottom line was that she was happy to finally have a father. "How did you meet mom?" she asked him softly. |

| Dawson's eyes sparkled gently as he held his girl in his arms. " I love you too, Jean"
" Well, we met when we were teens. Your mother wasn't keen on pep rallys at school and niether was your dad. So we ended up bumping into each other in the school courtyard under a cherry blossom tree." Dawson explained. " I never seen such a sight. It was like looking at a beautiful landscape with all the curves, colors, textures. Needless to say your mother was a beauty. Enough to make me stop breathing and my heart to speed up at the same time."

| Jean chuckled softly as she listened to her father talk. Of course she was sure that what he was saying was at least a little bit frabricated, not that she was complaining. It was adorable to hear how he felt about her mother and how happy he had been when he had first met her. Was this how her mother had felt deep down when Jean started to have growing feelings for Adam? "How did you ask her out?" |

| Jean didn't recall seeing many pictures of her mother as a teenager. The house was filled with pictures of herself as she grew up; but none of her mother. Pictures from high school? If there were any at all they were cleverly hidden. It was because of this that Jean had difficulty pictuing her father's story. She couldn't see her mother as a young teenaged beauty. |
