Niko looked after her curiously but continued cleaning up.

Ryder stayed with her mind. He began to get curious. What was it like to not be thirsty all the time? Did he used to be like that?

Lilli could feel him searching and started to get uncomfortable. In the hall, she stopped, trying, but having no idea how, to block out Ryder.

Ryder froze in her mind. Did she sense him? Was she about to attack his mind?

"You can be in there, just quit fishing." She mumbled.

Who are you, he asked, his mind-voice gravelly like his real one would be.

I'm Lilli. she replied.

Lilli... he repeated. You look familiar... I know you....?

lilli shook her head, trying to make the quickly forming headache go away. You're Ryder

Baily sat up in the bed. "Ryder is talking to Lilli..." she mumbled to Damon.

Damon looked over at her. "What..? How? I figured he'd be raving mad from Bloodlust."

Why don't I remember my own name, he asked her.

"In her mind." She said, listening now but not saying anything, she didn't want Ryder to hurt Lilli anymore and she also didn't want to scare the poor girl.


Because something happened. she said, her head ache getting worse.

What happened, he asked, his gravelly voice softer. Her headache was making his pain worse. Maybe if he spoke softer, it wouldn't hurt.

"Damon, can you go out there and make sure she doesn't collapse?" Baily asked, looking at her mate.


You were attacked. Sent into a blood lust. she explained.

Damon nodded and kissed his mate before going out and finding Lilli.

You are afraid of me now, he said, sensing some fear in her.

Lilli was silent for a moment, her head pounding with pain. Yes.

Damon found Lilli at last. "Lilli, are you alright," he asked, kneeling down to see if she was hurting. She looked like she was in horrible pain.

Ryder felt a possessiveness over the girl who was afraid of him. Why? He had no idea. But he had claims over her. He didn't want this man touching her. He lashed out at the man, making him double over. "Ryder," Damon growled through the pain.

Tears fell down Baily's eyes and also Lilli's. Ryder, he's your father. Baily thought to her son. And I'm your mother. He was just trying to protect Lilli in your absence. she said.

Ryder growled in their minds and howled in confusion, hurt, and hunger before he receded back into his own mind and locked himself away.

Lilli collapsed, to hurt emotionally and physically to stay awake anymore.

Baily walked out of their room and into the hallway where Damon and Lilli were.

Damon gently picked Lilli up once the throbbing in his head calmed down. "Let's get her to bed," he murmured to his mate.

"I'm going to go see Ryder." Baily said softly. "I'll be back shortly."

"Be careful, love," he told her gently.

"I will be." she promised and kissed his lips softly, heading towards her son.

Damon reached Lilli's room and laid her down on the bed gently. "Watch over her, boy," he told the dog quietly so he didn't wake her up.
