| Dan hadn't got out of the bathroom. He was deathly nervous, and had lost at least 10 pounds in the last hour | |

| After hearing some people snickering about someone having been in the bathroom for the past half an hour. Serena wasn't exactly pleased with this answer and reluctantly found herself walking over to the bathroom and awkwardly knocking on the door before walking in. The bathroom seemed empty and she was about to leave when she thought she saw some shoes from under a stall. "Dan?" she called out. |

"You came" he said, his face very pale

| "Of course I did. I promised, didn't I?" She was surprised by how pale his face looked and without thinking she walked closer to him and rested her hand on his cheek. He felt all clammy and sweaty and she couldn't believe that this was all because he would be performing soon. "Oh, Dan." she muttered. He must have had really bad stage fright to be looking this awful and nervous. |

| "I don't like how nervous you are right now." she retorted, pulling her hand back from his cheek. "You've been practising so much." He had turned down several of her invitations to have lunch or to go shopping new things that the babies would need. "You shouldn't be like this." She wasn't sure how she could calm him down, not being much of a pep talker and not really being able to relate to his situation. "Is there anything I can do?" |

| An annoyed sigh passed her lips and Serena shook her head. "You've been alone this long and you look awful. You're all clammy and sweaty." He was constantly pushing her away and it was annoying her. She wasn't asking for his heart but she wanted there to be some sort of relationship between them, even if it was just a friendship. |

"Don't you get it?" he asked
"The best thing for me right now is to be left alone" he said

| She could only try and be close to him so much before she was stretched passed her limits. "Fine, Dan." she said, turning her back on him. "I'll be waiting to see you perform." Walking out of the bathroom she waited backstage with the other painists until it was clear for her to go back to her seat. |

| When it was finally his turn to play, he came on stage. He looked pale as a ghost. He nervously threw a glance at the audience, than at his teacher, than Serena. He sighed, shuffled in his seat nervously......and than finally began the peice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5IiC1kAdzM | |

| He still looked like a mess when he walked on stage, though it did look like he had washed his face and fixed up his clothes a bit before leaving the bathroom. As he took his seat she noticed how he shuffled nervously and she wished that he would have let her help him. However, when he started to play she understood. Closing her eyes, she listened, her hands resting on her stomach. She wondered if their children could hear and then hoped with all of her heart that they could. |

| The audience gave him a standing ovation. Everyone clapped.......except for his teacher, who stood in his seat. Dan was very surprised by the reception.......and got up and bowed to them. | |

| Serena was one of the last people to get up, but not because she hadn't enjoyed it. She was stunned by how well he had played. As she got up she clapped for him, harder and harder until her palms were pink. Now that she thought about all of those years ago when she had teased him for playing Clair De Lune she felt terrible, knowing now just how good of a pianist he was. Even her parents were impressed, despite previously looking down at him for being a musician. |

| He was very surprised indeed. He however threw a glance at his teacher, who sat in his chair, his arms folded. The smile dissapeared from Dan's face......and he walked offstage.
The teacher stood up and began to talk to the guests who approached him. Soon a huge crowd gathered around him
(can you play a parent who was impressed with him?)

| (Sure thing.) "Well!" Serena's mother cried out, still clapping her hands a bit. "Who would have guessed that you had it in you? You were so nervous at first!" She was genuinely amazed with how he performed, though she had noticed that the last person who had looked to had been Serena. Being the kind of parent who viewed her daughter as a sort of goddess she couldn't help but also believe that Dan was starting to fall for her daughter and view her as a sort of muse. "You were amazing and I can understand your choice to be a musician." she smiled. |

| Despite all of the people around him Serena noticed one man in particular who seemed to be ignoring Dan. Shaking her head, she stepped forward and smiled at him softly. "You were great, Dan." she gently rested her hand on her stomach. "I can only hope that they'll be as talented as their daddy." she whispered softly, only wanting him to hear. |

| Serena shook her head. "I'm sorry that my opinion isn't as important of the opinions of others." She was trying to be supportive to him but she wasn't getting any results. What did he want her to do? She wasn't his piano teacher and sadly she wasn't a pianist herself. |

| Soon the parents of other students began to flock to him, asking about Dan
"Dan did what he was supposed to do. He did nothing special or nothing to hard. He just needs to get a backbone and cut the melodramatic nonsense" said his teacher, nonchalantly but loud enough to make sure Dan would hear
Dan sighed, even more dissapointed

| Serena sighed. "Look, I know that it's hard getting that kind of feedback when you've worked so hard on something, but in the end isn't constructive critisism a good thing?" She wanted to help him with his practise and to make him smile. If he would only give her a chance. |
