"May I come?" she asked quietly. Serena was in a weird place with Dan mostly because she felt horrible for in a way binding him to her when all he had wanted was a one night stand. She wanted to tell him that he was free to date other women though at the same time she found herself pulling him closer, wanting to have some sort of relationship with him since they were already having a baby together.

"Sure.....but most likely I won't play well" he said

"I'll be the judge of that." she said looking up, offering him a smile. It was a small almost nonexistant moment between them, at least in her mind. Before things could really go further they had reached the doctor's office. Her smile was soon off her face again and she quietly got out of the car and started walking with her mother into the building.

He sighed and walked near her into the doctor's office

Serena sat down beside him in the waiting room and stared out quietly at the small aquairum on the opposite side of her. When the doctor called her name she got up, though she had goosebumps and the hair on the back of her neck was standing up. Once she was brought to the room she was told to get up on the bed. A nurse put a weird, warm gel on her body not too long after explaining an ultra sound and was starting to show them the baby. Serena was mostly listening to the nurse as oposed to actually looking at the screen when her mother gasped and she saw the worried look on her face.

"What? What's wrong?" she asked, looking over at the screen. Despite not knowing much about sonograms she knew that she was seeing two babies on the screen.

Dan's eyes popped out as well

"Um.......why are there two babies?" he asked the doctor

The nurse chuckled, though deep down she did pity the young couple who obviously weren't even ready for one baby together. "You're having twins." she explained, smiling. "Congratulations. It seems to be a boy and a girl." she added, trying to be light about this. She knew that the girl was too young and that the guy wasn't excited about the thought of having a baby. This obviously hadn't helped things.

"T-twins..." Serena stuttered, speechless.

This changed everything. This meant he would have twice the responsibility, and would have to pay twice the money

"O-ok" he stuttered

Twins? How could this have happened? It was already enough that she had gotten pregnant via a one night stand but to be pregnant with twins really took the cake! Breathing in shakily, she looked over at her mother who was doing her best to stay composed. Clearing her throat, she briefly looked over at Dan and then looked away, once again knowing that she had succeeded in screwing up his life.

On the way home he sighed

"Ok....see you later" he said, as he got out of the car, and began walking home, his head down

Despite her mother's protests (which were actually quite weak due to her shock of being a young grandmother of two) Serena got out of the car and ran after him. "Dan, wait!" she called out, reaching out and grabbing his hand. She stopped and looked at him sadly and then sighed before letting go of his hand. "I have no desire to stop your life before it's really even started..." she looked down, "If you want we can have some legal things drawn up so you won't need to pay child support or whatever. My family will be able to take care of the babies ten-fold..." She knew that he didn't want this and that he certainly couldn't have wanted the babies.

He sighed and turned to her.

"I can't do that. I don't want our children to be raised by an only mother. I have to be there" he said

She bit her lip and sighed before looking up at them. "Do you even... do you even want them?" Even Serena was having trouble with this question. For a while she had considered getting an abortion (despite her previous pro-life stance,) though now that she knew that there were two children as well as the genders she knew deep down she couldn't get rid of them. With that being said, she was still finding it hard to answer whether or not she wanted them like a mother should want a child. She was only asking Dan this now because she knew he must have been even more skeptical than she was.

"When I was born, my parents abandoned me at a shelter. For 8 years I rotted there, feeling like I am unwanted. Even now I feel that I am unwanted" he said

"I won't have any child feel that" he said

She was surprised to hear this small part of his past and it made her realize more than ever how little she knew about the father of her unborn children. "Dan..." she muttered, her voice trailing off. Sighing, she looked up and offered him a small smile. "Please join me and my family for dinner tonight." She wanted to get to know him a little better; she owed him that much.

"I'd love to....but I must practice" he said

"Some other time perhaps" he said, walking away

"O-oh..." she stuttered, looking at him with a weak smile. "I suppose another time." Serena sighed as she watched him walk off and then went back to her mother who was waiting for her outside of the house. It was a little silly of her to expect him to want to spend more time with her than he needed to. He was already doing so much and didn't owe her anymore.

"It's not you. It's just that music is a full time thing" he said to her

Serena nodded her head. "I understand." she said quietly. She had already asked to go to his music recital and now she fully intended on going to it. While he didn't owe her anymore she owed him a lot. "I can't wait to see you at your recital. I'm sure I'll understand just how important music is to you when I hear your perform." Saying goodbye to him, she went back to her house.

He said goodbye to her and walked home. He than sat at the piano and began to practice

During the next couples of weeks Serena tried to connect with Dan, trying to get a bit closer to him. Sometimes he would let her in and sometimes he would remind her that he needed to practise for his recital. When the big day finally came she found herself shimmying into a pair of jeans and a cute blouse, even going as far as to put on make up (something that she hadn't done since she'd found out she was pregnant.)

He was currently at the concert hall. He had played before people before......but most of the people he was going to play before tonight were music teachers, students, and critics. This made him very nervouse. He honestly spent an hour in the bathroom throwing up because he was so nervous

Serena wasn't really sure what she was supposed to bring for Dan to a piano recital. It would seem odd to bring him a bouqet of flowers. Her second thought was to go and see him backstage though she wasn't sure if he wanted to see her. Biting her lip she sat down quietly in the audience, her hands clasped firmly in her lap.

His teacher greeted the audience as cordially as he could. He was an imposing and intimdating man, that had the gait of a vulture. It turned out that Dan was the last of 11 students that would play at the concert, and so his first student took the stage.

Dan was still in the bathroom, his hair messy and his face pale

Serena glanced down at her watch, feeling a bit impatient. If he was going to be the last to perform surely he wouldn't mind if she went back to see him for a few minutes. Once the first pianist had finished performing Serena quietly got up from her seat and left the auditorium. Once she found one of the backstage doors she quietly walked in. She saw a few people in the back, though she hadn't seen Dan.
