It's a Love Story

Jon looked at his friend and nodded. "Yeah sure." he smiled then looked at Ren. "Want something to eat?"

Ren looked at Jon and shook her head. "I don't have any money," she told him. "I'll eat later."

"I'll pay." he offered. "If you're hungry, I'll get you want you want."

This didn't surprise his friends - Jon was a nice person to begin with, so they couldn't tease him about paying for a girl's food. He did it often anyway.

"You won't give up until I eat something, will you," she asked him with a small smile.

He smiled, shaking his head. "Nope."

She chuckled, smiling. "Okay, then. I give up."

"That's the only thing to do." he smiled, standing, grabbing his stuff then holding his hand out to her.

She blushed and smiled, taking his hand and standing, too, slinging her book bag over her other shoulder.

He kissed her knuckles and smiled. "Come on."

Jon's friend all but dropped his jaw at the sight of him kissing her knuckles. That wasn't something Jonny did to anybody. "Wait-wait-wait-wait-wait. Are you two a thing," he asked.

Ren blushed, not wanting to answer. She didn't want to embarrass Jon.

Jon looked at Ren then at his friend and nodded. "Yes, I think we are." He said with a nod. This particular friend was his best friend so he trusted him not to pick on Ren.

His friend, Jason, laughed. "Well, Jonny-boy's got himself a girl. Don't worry - I'll keep my eye on him for ya," he grinned at Ren.

She blinked, not sure if he was picking on her or teasing Jon.

Jason smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. Takes a while to get used to me. I'm Jason, by the way. Ren, right," he smiled.

She nodded, "It's nice to meet you," she said with a smile.

Jon smiled and looked at Jason then at Ren. "Good. Let's go."

"You were at the party last night, weren't you, Ren?"

"Yeah. Jon took me home," she nodded.

"I didn't even know he talked to you before then," he said, looking at Jon. He knew Jon had liked her for a little while now.

"I haden't." he said, walking and holding onto Ren's hand. "All this happened last night."

"Well, well, well. You lucky dog," Jason teased. He noticed the jocks staring at them. "You know what this means, though, right," he asked in a low voice, serious now. They'd get bullied - big time. At least Ren would.

Ren held his hand tightly, acting like she didn't notice the jocks' gazes as they passed.

"Yes, I know." Jon said, letting go of Ren's hand and moving his arm over her shoulders, pulling her close.

"Hey, Crybaby," one of the jocks called.

Ren pretended like she didn't hear, looking up at Jon. "Can I have some frosted flakes," she asked him, looking at the cereals.

Jon looked from the jocks to Ren then at the cereals. "Yeah, of course." He said, asking the worker for the cereal she wanted and then for a bagel and cream cheese for himself.

She smiled, taking the cereal with a smile, thanking the worker.

"Didn't you hear us, Crybaby? Or did Picasso stick paintbrushes up your ears?"

"I don't know anyone named Crybaby," Ren told them. "And Picasso has been dead for over a thousand years. Can't you at least come up with original names? I mean really. Crybaby? A five-year-old could think of that."

Jon smiled and kissed her cheek. "Good job." he said softly, doing his best to walk away but those guys were getting on his nerves.

"Why don't you pick on someone your own size, jerks," Jason frowned, going to stand in front of Jon and Ren.

"Like who, you? You're a waste of time and space, blondy. Go do everyone a favor and jump off a bridge."

"I did yesterday. Bungee jumping is fun," he grinned. "Exhilarating."

"I'll show you exhilarating," the jock's hands balled into fists.

"I think I'll pass on that one. I'm not into fat, ugly jerks. Pretty girls are more my thing," he grinned, and received a punch to the gut.

"Hey!" Jon yelled, letting go of Ren and punching the guy who had punched Jason in the face.

Roman saw the beginning of the fight and sighed, running towards them. "Jon! Stop it!!" she yelled, standing next to Ren.

Rosie saw Jon punching one of the jocks and blinked. "Jon!" She ran towards them and stood beside her sister and Ren. "Jonny, stop it!"

Ren frowned and all but jumped on the jock's back to keep him from hitting Jon. She tried her hardest to pin his arms behind his back, but he was too strong and knocked her to the ground.

As Ren was knocked to the ground, Rome frowned and got into the fight also, trying to pin a jock down.
