"What good are you against a vampire," he asked, his eyes narrowing. "Do you know what your ability is?"

Damon opened the door for her and sat inside with her, closing the door.

"I- I can heal things. And thus, with a bit of practice, I can take energy away." Fairly said.

"Will they really do that to us?" Baily asked, looking over at Damon.

"Until you learn to control the weapon of your ability, don't try anything stupid," he said coldly.

"If given the chance, they will succumb to their lusts, yes," he murmured softly, nodding.

Her eyes narrowed also. "Who are you to tell me what I can and cannot do?" she asked.

"That always scares me... My mother was raped..." she said, bringing her knees to her chest.

"The guy who's protecting you," he snapped back. "Why are you so f*cking stubborn!?"

He looked at her and rested one of his hands on hers. "I won't let that happen to you," he murmured sincerely. "You're safe with me."

"Why are you?" She snapped back.

Baily looked at him. "Thank you." she said. "I know this is a little weird, but, I could use a hug..." she chuckled.

"You knew all along I was trying to protect you and suddenly you're fighting me. It's frustrating and a little maddening."

He nodded and scooted nearer to her and gently wrapped her in his arms. "Is this good," he asked.

"Maybe I just need to yell at someone! My dorm was burned down and I'm living with two vampires! I'm just as frustrated as you."

"Yeah." she sighed, cuddling into his embrace.

"So naturally you choose me to yell at," Niko rolled his eyes. "Women."

He stayed quiet, looking down at her as she cuddled into his embrace like a frightened child. The warrior - no, wait. Was it the warrior or the man in him that wanted to protect the frightened Breedmate? Either way, he held her close to comfort her.

"Convenience okay? And there's no way that I'm going to yell at Baily." She said.

Baily let her eyes close as she listened to his heart and his breathing. "Thank you." she whispered, sounding as if she was drifting off.

"I'm glad I'm so convenient," he muttered. "Can we go now?"

"You are welcome," Damon murmured softly. He didn't want to wake her up from her light doze, so he stayed still.

"I'd love to." she said, going around to the passenger side and climbing in, slamming her door.

Baily jumped slightly but didn't sit up, only started falling aleep again.

Niko got into the driver's seat, mumbling curses in various languages as he drove towards the compound.

Damon shook his head at the two and looked back down at Baily. She looked peaceful in her sleep. As innocent as a kitten.

Fairly turned around and looked over Baily and Damon. "Did she fall asleep?" she asked.

Damon nodded. "Don't drive too recklessly, Niko."

"I wouldn't dream of it," he said, being sarcastic, though he slowed down.

"No... because vampires never drive recklessly..." Fairly said sarcastically, sitting back in her seat.

What was with this female? She acted nothing like his lost mate, but Niko couldn't help but admire her for it. Though, knowing she wanted to help fight against the Rogues was more than a bit frustrating.

Damon chuckled once, shaking his head. They really did act nearly the same.

Fairly shook her head, letting everything drop for now. This man was frustrating, he wouldn't let her help and wouldn't let her practice her.. whatever she had. She wanted to protect herself and he wouldn't let her, he expected her to hide like some little girl? No way!

"What are you laughing at, back there," Niko asked.

"Oh, nothing," Damon grinned.

"Right," Niko sighed, arriving at the compound and pulling into the garage. He got out and opened the door for Damon so he could carry Baily out and to her room.

Fairly got out and almost slammed the door as she walked out of the garage and into their compound out whatever it was.

Damon blinked at Fairly. "Are you alright," he asked her, speaking softly so he didn't wake Baily up as they stepped into the elevator.

"Your friend or brother or whatever he is, doesn't think the women like me can defend themselves. He wants me to hide if we're attacked." She said, crossing her arms.

"He is protective of Breedmates in general. He doesn't want the same thing to happen to them as it did to his mate," he said quietly.

"But I'm not his mate. I never will be." She said shaking her head.

"Even so, he is still protective of you."
