Maria heard the garage door open and the traverse pull out, driving away. ''Well you got your wish baby...''

He sighed, wincing because it hurt. "Let Vince out of the house. Have him carry me and the other survivors inside. We need to heal quickly as possible," he told her.

''Are... Hmm, okay...'' She slid out from beneath him as gently as possible, then started to run up the hill. She reached the door, kicking it open since it was locked from the inside. ''V! He needs you!''

Vince busted out of the house and ran to Alex, sniffing his wounds and shifting into his human form. "You okay?"

"I'll live... I think," Alex sighed. "Get me and all the survivors from our pack inside. More are coming."

V nodded and lifted him up gently, carrying him inside. "Stay with Alex," he told Maria as he passed her. "He needs you with him," he told her gently.

Maria nodded, walking inside. She rushed to him, taking his hand in hers. ''I'm here sweetie... How can I help?''

"Just talk," he murmured. "Let me know you're okay."

She nodded, sitting next to him. ''Well, I'm a little scratched up, but I promise you I'll live.'' She smiled some then sighed, resting her head on the couch next to him... ''Baby, what happened?''

"All the neighboring packs within a hundred miles attacked without warning. They just wouldn't stop coming... That's why it took so long. We beat them. Barely," he sighed.

Maria sighed, kissing his cheek. ''God Alex, what now?''

"When I heal, I'm gonna take you away. Somewhere safe," he told her gently. "there's no promise... but I'm thinking about turning you once we get there... This has turned dangerous and there's no turning back now..."

''Sweetie, whatever you think is best...'' She sighed, kissing his cheek. ''How can I help you heal?''

"I need sleep... and food," he told her. "Lots of each."

''Well, what do you want to eat? I can get you food, then you can sleep amd I'll tend what wounds I can...''

"Soft food that's easy to chew. I don't have much strength," he admitted.

Maria nodded. ''Half of the things I eat are yogurt... Lots of vitamins and fruit if that's okay...''

He nodded. "That's fine," he said, sounding tired.

She nodded and stood, kissing ghe unbruised part of his forehead as she disappeared into the kithen. She returned a few moments later, caring one of her sets of yogurt, a spoon, and a basket filled with medical odds-and-ends.

"Help me sit up, please," he asked his love, feeling horrible for having her helping him so much.

Maria nodded and sat her things down, helping him sit up as gently as she could. ''Is that good?''

He nodded. "Yeah," he winced. "Perfect. Thank you, love."

Maria nodded, kissing him deeply. ''Its no problem sweetie...'' She placed one cup of yogurt in his lap, along with the spoon as. ''Are you strong enough to eat on your own? I don't mind helping anyways...''

He managed to lift his hand. "I think I can," he said.

Maria nodded, digging her stitching needle out. She sanitized the needle, threading it before she sighed. ''You're not super-sensitive to pain are you?''

"At this point, I don't care. Most every bone in my body is broken. do what you need to, love."
