It's a Love Story

Grandma Rose smiled at them, carrying a milk crate full of sewing supplies and fabrics. "They, you two lovebirds. Ready to help this old lady make you a new stocking," she smiled.

Lilli pulled away from Mike and smiled at Grandma Rose. "Sorry... I'm so ready."

Mike blushed, looking back at the cards in his hand.

Grandma Rose laughed and put the crate down. "Hows the shoulder, dear?"

"It's alright... It's throbbing a little and swollen..." she shrugged.

She nodded. "I hope Michelle has given you pain medicine?"

mike nodded. "Yep, she did."

"And Mikes been taking good care of me." She smiled.

"sounds like our mikey" she smiled.i

Lilli smiled and leaned over to kisss his cheek. "I love you." She whispered.

Mike smiled lovingly at her. "I love you, too," he whispered back.

Grandma Rose started emptying her crate of suplies. "Mikey, why don't you go get your guitar," she smiled.

Mike chuckled," alright," he got up and went to his room, coming out soon with his acoustic guitar. He sat down on the couch to tune it and smiled at lilli, asking what she anted to hear.

She smiled, slowly grabbing her sketch book while Mike was gone. "Anything." she shrugged to his question and started to draw him holding his guitar.

He smiled and strummed a few random cords. "What about you, Grandma Rose? You wanna hear anything?"

"Something soft and sweet," the elderly lady smiled at him, asking Lilli what colors she wanted in her stocking.

Lilli smiled, telling the older woman what she wanted, still drawing things in her book.

After he heard a tune in the random chords he was strumming, he began to play She's My Kind Of Rain by Tim McGraw.

He sang softly, gazing at Lilli as he did so.

Cassie smiled. "That was very pretty, Mikey."

He chuckled softly. "Thank you, Cass."

Lilli stopped drawing somewhere in the middle and just watched him sing to her. She smiled and leaned forward, kissing his lips lovingly. "I love you."

He smiled and kissed her back. "I love you, too."

He smiled and strummed the chords and began singing.

She smiled and kept drawing. Some pages of just his face, others with his hands and guitar. She drew Grandma Rose as she sewed and made her stocking. She felt amazingly at home, like this was normal.

Cassie smiled at Lilli. "You're very good," she said happily. "Ohh, brother, brother! Play you and Daddy's song!"

Mike chuckled and started playing.

"Driving through town just my boy and me

She smiled, listening to him. "You've got a sexy voice."

Mike blushed slightly, smiling sheepishly as he laughed. "Thanks, I guess." He didn't think he did.

She smiled, showing him some of the drawings she did.

He smiled and kissed her cheek. "You really are very good at drawing," he complimented.

She nodded, looking at the one of his hands. "I could do better on hands though."

"Nah, it's fine," he smiled and kissed her. "Your hands are a heck of a lot better than mine. I draw them as sticks."
