Niko blinked, focusing back on the present, as Fairly stumbled past the surveillance room. He got up and walked to the kitchen, leaning against the door frame, looking away from her. "You remind me of her. You have her hair. Her eyes. Her smile. You're just as stubborn as she, the duchess she was. She had just discovered she was pregnant when she was taken from me and turned into a Minion. I was elated that she was having my child. I was responsible for both of their deaths. I won't be responsible for another death. I have to make it up to them," he said and left, having not looked at her the entire time he spoke. It was his form of an explanation for his actions. Possibly even an apology.

Fairly hadn't looked at him either, until he said that she was pregnant. She didn't know that in loosing her, he also lost a child. That made things a bit worse. Sighing, she walked after him, taking his hand before he got to far away. "I understand. I had a boyfriend, I thought, no. I knew he was the one for me. When we were 20, he joined the army, he was immediately shipped out. His first month in Afghanistan, he and the men he was with got hit by a car bomb, he saved as many men as he could before getting shot. He got the medal of honor. I still have it and the flag that was over his coffin." She took her hand out of his. "But you're still an ass and i'm still mad at you."

"I cannot change that," he murmured. "Your mate was a true warrior, putting his brethren before himself. You honor him well by keeping his memory alive."

She smiled slightly. "Thank you. But you need to lighten up and I need coffee. I'll see you later." she said, turning and walking away.

He stood there for a second before he went to his quarters and got in bed to sleep for the day.

Baily climbed into the bed with Damon and sat there, reading a book. She was just happy to be next to him, it didn't matter what they were doing.

Damon woke with a start as she crawled back into bed. "Where'd you go," he yawned, laying his head on her lap.

She smiled, she always thought it was sweet when guys laid their head in girls laps. "It's morning, I needed to go to the bathroom and get something to eat." she said.

"Mmm," he yawned. "Speaking of which, I'll need to feed tonight," he told her gently.

She was silent for a moment before speaking. "You wont kill anyone, right?"

"No, I won't kill," he promised and looked up at her. "Do you not wish me to drink from you," he asked softly.

She was silent for a moment longer. "does it hurt?"

He shook his head. "It doesn't. You'll feel a prick, then pleasure."

She nodded, "alright then. I mean, it's a little weird, but the thought of you drinking from some other girl... makes me jealous." she said, turning red.

He chuckled softly and sat up to kiss her cheek. "Then I won't drink from any other girl. Does that make you happy," he asked softly.

She smiled slightly and nodded. "Sounds good."

He smiled. "Would you rather me drink from you now or later," he asked quietly, his fangs already extended slightly from the thought. He wondered if she tasted as good as she smelled. He hated that he was out cold when she'd given him her blood.

"Uhm..." she tried not to be scared at the look of his fangs. They looked slightly sexy, but, deadly at the same time. She wanted something romantic, though, and that made her feel a bit stupid. He explained it as sort of intimate, drinking blood.

He hid his fangs under his lip. "I'm sorry," he murmured without moving his lips. "Involuntary reaction..."

"It's okay. Do you need to feed now?" she asked.

"Not right this minute, no. I can wait until tonight," he told her.

She nodded. "Is it to weird to ask for something romantic?" she asked.

"No, of course not," he smiled softly. "What did you have in mind," he asked.

She shrugged. "I really don't know. How are things like this done?" she asked.

"With mates, normally a kiss while he's holding her, then a bite. Then she would drink his blood and things would go further quickly. But that's when both are mated to each other."
