Claudia walked into the room quietly, looking over at Andrew with a sad expression on her face. Gently walking over to him, she hugged him, and rested her face against his hair for a few second. She forgave Richard and knew with all of her heart that he would never willingly let Antionette get hurt, but that didn't take away the pain of knowing that her daughter had been tortured.

Andrew sighed, hugging Claudia and nuzzling her neck. His face was wet from tears and already it seemed his face was hot from holding back so much anger. "How could I have not noticed? I'm no father..." he said, sighing and shaking his head.

"There was no way that we could have known." Claudia murmured softly. When Darlene had taken over Antionette's position, she had ended any of Antionette's usual visits to see her parents. She'd hardly even written back to them during the holidays. "And I don't think that Richard could have known either. Between his slave driving parents always forcing him to work so hard to keep his inheritence." Claudia whispered. She didn't want Andrew to have Richard.

Andrew sighed, closing his eyes tightly and hugging Claudia. He knew that Richard had nothing to do with it, but how could he be so proud of himself, as a parent? His own daughter was taken and he never noticed something was up, especially with the discontinuance of visits or even letters. "I must've been a real bastard, huh?" he muttered.

"Sweetheart, I understand." Claudia said, and then gently kissed his lips. "It's not your fault. It isn't anyone's fault. And don't ever forget that. What happened is unfortunate and terrible, but a person cannot stop what they can't predict. For Antionette and Richard's sake, we need to move on."

Andrew nodded, understanding Claudia's words. He had to move on. This was a long while ago. No wonder Richard tried to keep it under wraps. It was an ugly reality! "I know....I'll try my best, I just need to be alone." he mumbled, taking a deep breath.

"Alright." Claudia said softly, kissing his cheek, and then leaving the room. She was hurt that Antionette had not told her about it, but she could understand why her daughter hadn't been able to. Claudia paused for a minute to sigh and look down at her own hands. She knew what it was like to carry a shameful secret on your shoulders.

Richard sat down on one of the chairs, rubbing his face with one hand. "I just hope your father can forgive me." he mumbled. Andrew however took at least an hour to calm down and try to forget. Standing, he went downstairs, looking to his son in law and hugging him tight. "I'm sorry, son." he said, sniffing and patting his back. They both patted each other's backs. It seems things were resolved for now.

Antionette and Richard would need to understand that it would still take Claudia and Andrew a while to get over it. Heck, Antionette was still getting over it. They would not say anything about it publicly, but they would keep it to themselves, and try to resolve it. Try to understand it and get on with life.

Of course, it would take a long while to get over. The only one of the four that couldn't ever forgive what happened is probably Richard. He still was trying to understand how he couldn't differentiate between the two cousins. It was his wife for gods sakes! After a long while, he looked to Antionette. "We should get going. Autumn is probably awake by now."

Antionette nodded her head shakily. "Y-you're probably right." she murmured softly. Autumn was now around sixteen months old, and they had very reluctatnly agreed to leave her with a nanny for a few hours to go and visit Antionette's parents. After quietly bidding goodbye to her parents, she left the farm with Richard.

Richard nodded, bidding goodbye to Antionette's parents and leaving the farm. As they got in the cart and began being taken home, he held her hand, kissing it. He swore, that night he would be very grateful to have his rightful bride by his side again, and this time the right one. "I love you..." he said, his eyes glossy from coming close to tears.

Antionette knew that she would never be able to resent him for what had happened to her. Many a woman would, but she couldn't. What mattered to her was that he still wanted her and that they were together again. They were happy and healthy, and also had a beautiful baby girl. Gently brushing some of his hair out of his eyes, she smiled. "I love you, too."

Andrew however still remained silent as he stared at the floor, wondering how Antionette's own cousin could do such a thing. "Did it ever strike you that Darlene could do such a thing?" he asked Claudia, feeling eerie just talking about the subject.

Claudia had known Darlene since the day that she was born. She was only a year or two older than Antionette. She sighed before looking up. "Darlene was never a kind girl." she finally answered. And that was the ugly truth. "She was always willing to do whatever it took to take what she wanted.

Andrew nodded, groaning. "I never really noticed. She didn't come around much to the farm and when she did, she was very respectful. It was all a front I guess." he muttered, nodding again. "So, how do you feel about all this?" he asked.

"I feel indredibly shocked." Claudia admitted. She had always known that Darlene was out of it, and that Gregory was a little tweaked, too, but she had never guessed that something like this could have cultivated. Gregory had at one point planned to join the cloth and become a priest. How had this happened?

"Well, seeing that Antionette had married a man of wealth, it must've hurt them deeply with their egos." Andrew shrugged, sighing and getting up. "Either way, let's put this away for now, they're gone, as far as we know." he said, smiling and hugging Claudia. "Now, why don't we enjoy the rest of our afternoon?" he chuckled, kissing her cheek.

No one aside from Antionette and Richard really knew how Gregory and Darlene had died. And if all went well, it would stay like this. There was no reason why anyone needed to know. They were terrible people, and they deserved to be dead. Sighing softly and brushing her hair from her eyes, Claudia nodded her head. "That would probably be the best."

Andrew yawned, hugging Claudia. At least Richard had brought his daughter back, safe and sound. All he worried about now was Autumn. Would anything like this happen to her? He hoped not. As Richard and Antionette arrived home, he could hear Autumn crying in her room, one of the caretakers trying to calm the baby down.

Antiontte wasn't too surprised that Autumn was acting up. This reallly was the first time that they had left her home alone. Normally the shopping for food was done by the servants. And if either Richard or Antionette needed to go into town, they either brought Autumn with them, or left her with the parent who was staying home. Walking into the nursery, she excused the servants, and carefully cradled Autumn. "What's the matter, baby?" she cooed.

Richard wouldn't want to imagine when Autumn is two. He had heard that those are really tough years. Sighing, he followed Antionette in and smiled as the baby calmed down in her mother's arms. Cooing, she cuddled and hugged her around the neck loosely. "Well, looks like everything's fine now." he chuckled, kissing his daughter's head and smiling. "Hungry, dear?" he asked, kissing her cheek.

By the time most children were two they were already able to walk and talk. They would have to start putting up the more valuable knick knacks and what not. Not mention they would have to keep her away from the top of staircases. It certainly would be hard. But they would make it. Somehow. They always did eventually.

Exactly. Soon the years will come by and it'll be easier. Richard however wondered whether there'd be more children in the future. He shook his head, not wanting to repeat it. Antionette would tell him if she wanted more. For now, one was enough. Getting a servant to tell them to start lunch, he hugged the two. "Hm, lunch is being started, girls." he chuckled, trying to still talk to Autumn like an actual adult, he was told that babies would learn better that way.

Antionette couldn't resist cooing at Autumn or using baby talk. It was hard to let go of. Autumn was her first born child and it already felt like she was growing up way to fast. She looked up at Richard, smiling, and then nuzzled his cheek. "Sounds good." she murmured.
