The phone had begun to vibrate. Mike had left at least five texts, apologizing for asking for them to go forward beyond their kissing. Still, Alex was quiet in his room, though his anger was bubbling beneath the surface.

Sami ignored the texts as she started crying. Deep down, she was still blaming her brother for this, and her parents. If they hadn't died then things would still be great. She'd be living in Australia still, happy as can be. Soon, she started crying harder, sobbing into he knees.

The rest of the night though, as Alex continued to hear Sami's cries from across the room, he groaned. Standing up from his bed, he opened the door to Sami's and peeked in. "Sami?"

"I hate them." She mumbled. "I hate them so much right now..."

"Who?" Alex asked, walking into the room but staying by the door.

"My parents and brother... I wouldn't be hurting like this if they hadn't died. My brother died and he promised not to." she cried. "I hate them."

"Yeah, you might hate em. But it's not their fault. I'm sure they were thinking of you, just before they kicked the bucket. I bet you." Alex muttered, thinking of his own mom.

She looked up at him, confused. "Kicked the bucket?"

"Left the building? Died?" Alex sighed, shaking his head. "It wasn't their fault. You can't just hate em for that."

"You don't know anything about me... You don't even like me." She said, crying harder now.

"I....I do like you. And I understand you hating your family for dying and leaving you with us. But I know that they wish they were here with you. To help you out. It's not a matter of who likes you and who doesn't. Just..move on." Alex muttered, feeling like his mom really did teach him something while she was alive.

She shook her head. "I can't move on... I don't know how."

"Then try. That's all I gotta say. I've tried, still am." Alex scoffed, looking away. "So, anything else on your mind you wanna get off your chest?"

"Are you ever gonna forgive me?" she asked softly, looking at him. Her saddened face made her look vulnerable.

"To be honest, I know I will, sooner or later. Most likely soon. It's just, eh, I'm just licking my wounds is all." Alex said, sighing.

She nodded. "I understand. I just... I don't want to loose you as a friend. I really like you, I don't want to loose you."

Alex nodded. "Nah, I know. But for now, let's just bury the hatchet. Ok?" he said, smiling weakly.

"What does that mean?" she asked.

"Like....just put it away? Forget it?" Alex muttered, raising a brow. He figured anyone knew the meaning.

She nodded. "Oh.. alright."

"Ok, good. So..truce?" Alex asked, smiling.

She nodded. "truce." She agreed.

"Ok, good. Now answer your boyfriend's texts, they're annoying the hell out of me with the vibrating." Alex said, rolling his eyes and leaving the room. Eventually however, even if on the outside he seemed fine, he wasn't inside. He still felt a bit angry, and so began a fight with his father. About everything, even including his mother's death. The whole house shook with how loud they seemed, and by midnight, Charlie had unfortunately and against his will, decided to send Alex to military school, to learn to control himself.

That night, Sami sat on Alex's bed with him as he brooded. "Alex please apologize to your dad. Please. I don't want to go to school with out you. You protect me." she said. She knew that Mike was there for her also, but, Alex was her friend and deep down, she still loved him.

Alex scoffed. "You got your boyfriend, plus, I hate it here. Having to stay here and see my dad suffer and yet act as if nothing's wrong. It makes me sick to my stomach!" he said, getting up and kicking his beanbag chair. "I just can't take it anymore!"
